Missing Person Kenneth Wayne Wallace of Syracuse

SYRACUSE — Police are searching for a 41-year-old man who has been missing since Sunday.

Kenneth Wayne Wallace, of Syracuse, was last seen leaving his home, which is in the area of 1000 West and 3000 South, between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. on foot. He was wearing a lightweight black jacket, black hat, blue jeans and flip-flops, Syracuse Lt. Tracy Jensen said.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Wallace is listed on the National Crime Center’s system as a missing/endangered person.

Jensen said that with storms coming in, officers, friends and family are concerned about Wallace’s welfare.

Jensen said Wallace has not used his debit card since Sunday morning and did not take his car or his cellphone.

Wallace also has had no contact with family members, friends or coworkers.

“This is uncharacteristic of him,” Jensen said.

Wallace, who is white, is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs about 170 pounds, and has a goatee, brown hair and brown eyes.

Jensen said police have searched the area south of where Wallace was last seen, which is “a lot of open space.

“We saw nothing.”

Officers also have conducted grid searches in the Syracuse area with a command post at Jensen Park. They have searched homes, trailers, fields and outbuildings in the area. Rescue K-9s also searched the area but found nothing, Jensen said.

A reverse 911 was sent out Tuesday notifying neighbors that Wallace was missing, giving his description and asking for help. Officers have followed up on every lead, Jensen said.

Jensen said there is some concern that Wallace might be having some mental health problems and could be suicidal, but “we can’t confirm that until we talk to him.”

“We’re just running out of options, and we are concerned he may have hurt himself,” Jensen said.

Jensen said Wallace could have gotten a ride with someone, or someone may have picked him up while he was out walking.

Anyone with information is asked to call Syracuse police at 801-825-4400.

Wrongful Death Man Arrested in CA Killing of Woman and Toddlers

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. (AP) — Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday arrested the 19-year-old brother of a man whose wife and two young children were found brutally slain inside their suburban Sacramento home a day earlier.

The department’s spokesman, Sgt. Jason Ramos, said “something bad was brewing for some time” between the suspect and his extended family.

The suspect, Grigoriy Bukhantsov, was taken into custody early Wednesday morning and was being booked at Sacramento County Jail. Ramos said he was the only suspect in the Tuesday killing of the woman, her 2-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

A 6-month-old boy was found unharmed in the Rancho Cordova duplex.

The husband found the bodies when he returned home Tuesday afternoon, then ran to a neighbor, who called police. Authorities have not identified the husband, but they say he is not a suspect and has been cooperating, despite being distraught.

The identities of the victims also have not been released pending a coroner’s investigation.

California Department of Motor Vehicle records show Aleksey Bukhantsov was the registered owner of a 2005 Chrysler minivan that had been stolen from the family’s home after the attack. Authorities had been searching for the vehicle and spotted it about 2 a.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of a Denny’s restaurant in Rocklin, a suburb to the northeast of the state capital.

They found the suspect sleeping inside a booth in the restaurant with a plate of chicken-fried steak with gravy. He was taken in for an interview.

“Based on that interview as well as what we have learned throughout the investigation since yesterday afternoon, we have arrested him for the murders of all three victims,” Ramos said. “We believe he is the only person responsible for this. We’re not looking for any outstanding suspects at this time.”

Ramos described the manner of the attack as a “sharp force trauma” such as a “stab, slashing, slicing,” but declined to say what kind of weapon was used or go into further detail pending a coroner’s inquiry. He said there was no forced entry into the home.

He said Grigoriy Bukhantsov was somewhat nomadic, living temporarily with various family members and may have even stayed with his brother’s family in the duplex where they lived.

The suspect’s relationship with the rest of his family was strained, Ramos said, stressing that authorities had not identified a specific motive for the attack.

“Everything we’ve learned throughout the course of the investigation suggests he just didn’t have a good relationship with family members, and there have been suggestions that something bad was brewing for some time,” Ramos said. “But I don’t think anybody, obviously, could have foreseen an act like this.”

The suspect and his brother had other family members in the area, Ramos said. The neighborhood where the killings occurred has a large Ukranian and Russian immigrant population.

The slain mother was described as “a good lady” by a neighbor who declined to give her name but identified herself as a distant cousin of the slain woman. “And they’re a good family,” she added.

“I’ve been giving haircuts to her husband,” the woman said. “They’re a good family. It’s so sad.”

Maria Murguia, who lives next door to the home where the slayings occurred, said she didn’t know the family well, but would often say hello to them, especially when she saw the children playing in the backyard. She said she never heard any yelling or fighting coming from the home.

“They were a normal family. I heard the babies playing in the backyard and saw their mother giving them food sometimes. I never see anything,” she said. “I don’t know what happened, and I’m so sad because those are little kids.”

Wrongful Death Arrest Made in Jessica Ridgeway Case

The mother of a Colorado teenager admitted Wednesday she made the phone call that led to her 17-year-old son turning himself in to authorities in the abduction and killing of a 10-year-old girl who vanished earlier this month.

“I made the phone call, and he turned himself in. That’s all I have to say,” Mindy Sigg, Austin Reed Sigg’s mother, told the Associated Press, before she broke down in tears and hung up the phone. This is the second report of a mother alerting authorities about her son suspected of murder.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Sigg was arrested after police reportedly received the phone call from his mother on Tuesday night that led them to his home near Ketner Lake, about 1.5 miles away from where Ridgeway, 10, disappeared.

Sigg, who had aspirations to become a mortician, confessed to his mother prior to his arrest, KDVR.com reported.

Ridgeway disappeared Oct. 5 while walking to school in Westminister, Colo. Her body was found five days later in a field at a park.

“We worked on this case nonstop, around the clock, since Oct. 5, the day of her abduction,” Police Chief Lee Birk said at news conference. “I believe we’ve made a significant step towards justice for Jessica.”

The break in the case came a day after police said her abduction was linked to the May 28 attempted kidnapping of a 22-year-old runner at another park, the Ketner Lake Open Space.

In that case, a woman fought off a stranger who grabbed her from behind and put a rag over her mouth that smelled of chemicals. Westminster investigator Trevor Materasso said Tuesday police haven’t been able to determine if the substance on the rag was meant to subdue the woman.

Authorities didn’t say why they think the two cases are linked, but they noted Sigg will be charged in both crimes. His first court appearance is set for 8 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities said they notified the Ridgeway family of the arrest Wednesday morning.

“We hope and pray that this arrest brings them some measure of closure in dealing with this enormous loss that they’ve suffered,” Birk said.

Jessica was walking down a quiet street in her modest neighborhood when she was last seen alive. Her school backpack was found three days later in Superior, another Denver suburb about seven miles northwest of her home.

After her disappearance, more than 1,000 officers and 10 agencies, including the FBI, investigated the case, following up on more than 4,000 leads.

While authorities searched for her killer, high school students volunteered to walk younger students to class to keep them safe and more parents were waiting at bus stops with their children and dropping them off at school.

The number of suspected abduction attempts reported to police also increased, possibly because more children and parents were on alert for suspicious behavior.

Arson Investigation More Info on Lexington Woman

There is an update on the Lexington woman accused of attempted murder in a bizarre arson case.

Lamonica Hill is charged with attempted murder, and on Wednesday in court more details were revealed. Hill, 41, burst into tears during her preliminary hearing where investigators laid out the evidence they have in the case against her. She’s charged with arson and attempted murder after a fire at Circle View Apartments.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

According to investigators, Hill told them she was dreaming of grilling out and awoke to a fire in her bedroom. Authorities say the story was a lie and that hill actually had an elaborate scheme set up.

In court Wednesday, investigators say Hill sent a suicide note and will to her step mother postmarked the day of the fire. There was also, according to investigators, a text message sent to her ex-boyfriend saying she wanted to kill herself and family because he broke up with her.

Perhaps the most telling testimony came when the investigators talked about what happened after Hill allegedly drugged her son with 20 sleeping pills.

“He indicated that he was awakened by Ms. Hill on top of him, covering his mouth and nose, and that he had to push her off of him,” said Captain Carrie Bowling of the Lexington Fire Department during testimony Wednesday. “He also indicated that he was the one who called 911.”

Hill is due back in court on October 31.
