Pedophile Tracking Daniel Nemanich of San Diego

Daphne Hearn, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the San Diego FBI Office, announces the arrest of Daniel Anthony Nemanich of San Diego.

Nemanich was arrested early Friday morning, July 27, 2012, at his residence without incident. Nemanich was arrested by FBI agents assigned to the FBI’s Cyber Crime Squad.

According to the criminal complaint filed in this matter, Nemanich is charged with violating Title 18, United States Code (U.S.C.), Section 2252(a)(2), receipt of images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The FBI initiated an investigation into this matter earlier this year after receiving information from a security engineer with a local company. Based upon this information and additional investigation, the FBI obtained a search warrant for the residence of Daniel Anthony Nemanich.

On February 22, 2012, FBI agents served a federal search warrant at Daniel Anthony Nemanich’s residence. Seized during this search warrant were computers, external and internal hard drives, and other loose media and digital devices. Subsequent forensic analysis of the digital media seized from Nemanich’s residence revealed thousands of images and videos depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Following his arrest, Nemanich was booked into the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) where he remains in custody. Nemanich is expected to have his initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge on Monday, July 30, 2012.

This investigation was conducted under the FBI’s Innocent Images National Initiative (IINI). The mission of the IINI is to reduce the vulnerability of children to acts of sexual exploitation and abuse that are facilitated through the use of computers; to identify and rescue child victims; to investigate and prosecute sexual predators who use the Internet and other online services to sexually exploit children for personal or financial gain; and to strengthen the capabilities of federal, state, local, and international law enforcement through training programs and investigative assistance.

Since its inception, the IINI program has continued to grow exponentially, seeing an increase from approximately 80 pending cases in fiscal year 2001 to approximately 5,900 through fiscal year 2012. Also between the years of 2001 to 2011, the IINI program has recorded the following statistical accomplishments:

Approximate number of informations and indictments: over 10,000
Approximate number of arrests: over 11,000
Approximate number of convictions: 11,400

This case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Missing Person Nathaniel James Lewis of Cherokee County

Cherokee County Sheriff’s officials are asking the public for help finding a man last seen more than two weeks ago.

Nathaniel James Lewis, 33, reported missing July 24 to the sheriff’s office, was last seen July 16 by his boss.

“Lewis worked at Mazzio’s in Tahlequah,” Cherokee County Undersheriff Jason Chennault said. “He came to work and was sick, so they sent him home. As far as we know, that’s the last anyone’s seen of him.”

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Lewis is described as being 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

With no leads to go on, the sheriff’s office is asking anyone with knowledge of Lewis’ disappearance or whereabouts to contact their office.

Chennault said Lewis lived with his grandmother in the Grand View area north of Tahlequah. Lewis’ grandmother went to Georgia to stay with Lewis’ mother the same day Lewis went missing, Chennault said. A repair man went to Lewis’ home July 19 to fix a faulty air conditioning unit, but said he found the front and back doors of the home opened.

“A cell phone and (Lewis’) glasses were found inside,” Chennault said. “But Lewis and his truck were gone.”

Chennault said the pickup, a brown Ford F-150 with the license plate 428GLS, hasn’t been located and authorities don’t have much to work on.

“We’ve entered him as a missing person, and hopefully someone comes across him or something will turn up,” Chennault said. “But right now we have no idea. Nothing at all.”

Chennault said Lewis has some cousins in Tahlequah, but they told authorities they hadn’t heard from or seen Lewis.

Lewis’ mother is in now Tahlequah, Chennault said.

Missing Person Patrick Joseph Mikes, 55

Troy police are looking for information about a missing city man who was last seen Friday biking from his house, where police found evidence of an assault Sunday.

Patrick Joseph Mikes, 55, left his residence in the 2000 block of Homewood Street riding a Cannondale Super 6 road bike with black frame and red handlebars about 5:35 p.m. Friday, Capt. Robert Redmond said at a news conference today.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

About 10:50 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a report of a missing person. They found evidence indicating an assault took place at Mikes’ house, but Redmond declined specifics on the evidence.

He said police are trying to determine if the assault is related to Mikes’ disappearance.

Police have a person in custody, but Redmond declined specifics on the person — even the person’s gender. The person is being questioned to possible involvement in the incident. The person has not been charged, Redmond said.

Redmond said Mikes’ two sons, ages 16 and 21, are at the house. He said Mikes’ wife is deceased.

Mikes’ bike has not been found, Redmond said.

Police are seeking information about Mikes’ whereabouts, general bike routes or general routines as well as locations he might frequent.

Redmond said that Mikes would ride 50-60 miles on the weekends.

He said police did not know Mikes’ direction or path when he left his house Friday.

Redmond declined to say if there were any prior problems at the house.

Police also are looking for information about Mikes’ associates; why someone might want to hurt him, or anyone who had recent contact with him.

Redmond said Mikes is an avid bicyclist. He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt and black spandex shorts. He is 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, with short gray hair, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 248

Wrongful Death Suspect Injecting Butts with Fix-A-Flat

MIAMI — A South Florida resident previously charged with injecting people with Fix-a-Flat in a black market buttock-enhancing business was arrested Thursday on a charge of manslaughter, authorities said.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said Oneal Morris, 32, was arrested at her mother’s house in Coconut Creek on one count of manslaughter. Morris, who is transgender, identifies herself as female, but was booked into jail as a man, the Miami New Times reported.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Shatarka Nuby, 32, died in March in Tallahassee from what an assistant medical examiner called “massive systemic silicone migration” as a result of the cosmetic silicone injections, authorities said.

“Shatarka Nuby would pay a transvestite she knew as Dutchess up to hundreds of dollars to come to her house and inject her buttocks, hips, thighs and breasts with an unknown substance. Then Dutchess, sometimes wearing medical scrubs and a stethoscope, would seal the injection sites with super glue and cotton balls,” the Broward Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Morris has been arrested multiple times on allegations of performing cosmetic procedures with no license in both Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

The alleged victims have stories similar to Nuby’s, who wrote a letter to the Department of Health shortly before she died. Nuby was the only victim whose complications were fatal, authorities said.

Nuby told friends and relatives that the injection sites became hard and hot and her skin turned black. Another alleged victim had to undergo surgery after an injection, authorities said.

Morris had previously turned herself in to authorities in March to face charges of medicine without a license and practicing medicine without a license resulting in serious injury. She was released the same day.

Arson Investigation Portsmouth Slaying Site

Arson was reported for a second time in eight days at a house where three men were killed earlier this month, the fire department said. The fire was reported at 1:19 a.m. Monday morning at 827 Lincoln St. and was under control at 1:42, said firefighter Anna Silva, a department spokeswoman. A sheet of plywood securing the back door burned, she said. Silva said the house is vacant. Someone set a fire on the porch of the house July 23, the fire department said. Both fires remain under investigation.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

Elijah M. Randall, 27, Marcus Allen, 28, and Marcus Parker, 30, died on July 13 after they were shot in the house in a case that remains under police investigation. The home is on the border of the Prentis Place and Prentis Park neighborhoods. Detective Jan Westerbeck, a police spokeswoman, said detectives could not comment Monday on what authorities think is the reason for the fires. Meanwhile, detectives continue to investigate the triple murder. Randall was ordered to be on good behavior for two years last September after he pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon, court records show. He was arrested again March 29 and charged with third-offense carrying of a concealed weapon. A friend of Randall’s said she believes that case might have been a factor in the triple murder.

Electronic Surveillance Captures Flash Mob Stealing

A Chicago clothing store owner is hoping YouTube viewers will help identify a flash mob he says stole around $3,000 in designer jeans.

Luke Cho, the owner of Mildblend Supply Co. in Wicker Park, posted a surveillance video of more than a dozen teens walking into the store Saturday and stuffing their bookbags with jeans before walking out, MyFoxChicago reports.

http://liarcatchers.com/electronic_surveillance.html

“They came marching in and basically ransacked the place and tried to grab whatever they could,” he said.

Cho says he has dealt with a dozen shoplifting incidents since his store opened six months ago, but none as sophisticated as the “flash mob” robbery, MyFoxChicago reports.

Chicago police are investigating the incident.

Identity Theft Frank Chester Brown Sentenced to 30 Months

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 57-year-old Deer Creek man was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison last Thursday in Minneapolis Federal Court in connection with a case where he tried to use another man’s identity for a passport.

Frank Chester Brown was charged on Nov. 8, 2011, on one count of making false statements on a passport application, one count of false representation of a Social Security number and one count of aggravated identity theft. He pleaded guilty on March 2 to the charges.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

According to the plea agreement, Brown admitted that on June 29, 2004, he attempted to apply for a passport with the name, Social Security number and birthdate of another man. He also admitted that since 1993, he was using somebody else’s identity without their knowledge. The identity he stole was the one he attempted to use on the passport application, according to court documents.

In support of the application, Brown supplied an expired passport under the same false name. Authorities began investigating the case when the victim applied for a passport on May 3, 2010.

Brown also admitted that in 1994, he fraudulently got a Social Security card number using a stolen identity and a different birth date. He used the card to apply for credit to finance a motorcycle from a bank. He was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service on Oct. 5, 2011, in Alabama.
