Wrongful Death Convicted Killer Has Message For Victim’s Family

Mindy Turner was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Friday for the murder of her fiancé Max Pomeroy Jr.

During a 20 minute conversation with LEX 18’s Jessica Reyes, Turner maintained her innocence.

She said that the jury put an innocent person behind bars and a killer is still walking the streets a free man.

Turner told LEX 18 that as a mother herself, she sympathizes with the victim’s family but insists she did not kill Max.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

She claims she still remembers the faces of the three men who broke into their house five years ago and killed her fiancé as he tried to protect her.

Turner says police have the wrong person and that she plans to file an appeal. She plans to spend the rest of her life fighting a conviction she says is wrong.

“I think that I was found guilty because the jury was exhausted, and I don’t think the jury stuck to their convictions because the first time it was a hung jury and the second time it was a guilty verdict,” said Turner.

Max’s mother spoke in court today.

“As a mother I will never wish this on another mother. I’ve had to watch my husband cry and watch my children cry,” Gail Pomeroy said.

Mindy had a message for Max’s mother, “that I love her no matter what she thinks. I love her and the rest of his family, but I didn’t do this.”

Arson Investigation Lexington Firefighters Investigate Arson Spree

Fire investigators in Lexington said there have been five arsons in 48 hours. Alarming numbers that have Lexington Firefighters demanding that the crimes stop. The majority of the fires happened near Jennifer Road on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

“A lot of people live here with children. That’s very dangerous for people to have nothing better to do than start fires,” said Ashlee Burden, who lives in the Jennifer Place Apartment complex.

Investigators said the first fire happened at a vacant home on Versailles Road on Wednesday. Later on Wednesday night, two separate fires were set in the same utility closet at the Jennifer Place Apartments, followed by another at a nearby bus stop.

The fifth fire happened Thursday night at the vacant Continental Inn in East Lexington, about a block from Jennifer Road.

“It’s frustrating that somebody would want to go to such extremes to destroy property and to possibly injure or kill somebody,” said Captain Chris Bartley, with the Lexington Fire Department.

Firefighters said they think a different arsonist may have been at work in first fire on Versailles Road. However, they are urging the public to keep a sharp eye, report anything strange, and help catch these criminals.

The Lexington Fire Department asks the public to call the police if they have any information or see anything suspicious. Arson investigators can also be reached at (859) 231-5672.
