Wrongful Death Scott County Murder Case Continues

Police investigators continued their testimony in a Scott County murder case. Mindy Turner is charged with stabbing her boyfriend, Maxwell Pomeroy, at her stepfather’s home back in 2010. Turner told police that three black men broke into the house and stabbed Pomeroy to death, she was also wounded. But not long after that, police and other officials started questioning the home invasion story.

According the the Georgetown News Graphic, Scott County Coroner John Goble was the first to question Turner’s story. Goble told police that Pomeroy’s body temperature when he was found would indicate that he had been dead for about 2 hours before Turner called 911.

The News Graphic is also reporting that Police did not find any indication of a break in at the home. Half a dozen officers have testified so far in the trial. The trial resumed Wednesday morning.

Nine men and five women are on the jury and two jurors will be dismissed once the case is turned over to them for deliberations.

Missing Person Body of AZ Man Missing 3 Years Found

A Bucks County man who went missing in Arizona almost three years ago, has been found dead, his family confirmed on a missing person’s Facebook page.

Brian Histand went missing on May 15, 2013 in Phoenix, Ariz.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Histand, 25, was a professional BMX rider from Middletown Township. He was “disoriented and acting strangely” before he disappeared, according to the Inquirer, who identified Histand’s father as a Lower Makefield police officer.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on May 15, Histand was contacted by police sitting in a field in Phoenix.

“Brian was cogent and able to answer questions and said he didn’t need or want police assistance. Brian provided the officer with the phone number of his out-of-state family and they were notified. Brian has not been seen or heard from since. His vehicle was found nearby, locked, and was towed on 5/17/13,” according to the National Missing Person Directory

His friends and family have speculated Histand may have been confused due to a possible concussion he got while BMX riding, multiple reports say.

Pedophile Tracking Teacher and 9 Other Men Arrested in Denver Sting

Ten men, including a Denver school teacher, were arrested last week in a child predator sting operation by federal agents and Adams County authorities.

Homeland Security Investigations say three of the men were also found to be Mexican nationals living in the country illegally and that they might be deported.

Those arrested all face felony charges, including attempted child sex trafficking, solicitation of a child prostitute and attempted child sex assault.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

HSI spokeswoman Karissa Marcum said the county sheriff’s office, Commerce City police, the Colorado State Patrol and prosecutors were also involved in the operation.

The undercover sting took place Thursday and Friday. Marcum declined to talk about the details of the operation.

Prosecutors say the teacher arrested was 35-year-old David Joseph Hocker, who works at Warren Village. He is accused of two counts each of attempted child sex trafficking, soliciting a child prostitute and attempted child sex assault.

Warren Village, in a statement released Tuesday night, said Hocker was employed at the learning center for eight days as a substitute teachers aide for school age children.

“The alleged incident did NOT take place on the Warren Village campus and we are confident that no wrong doing occurred at Warren Village,” the release said.

Warren Village did typical background and referance checks on Hocker, including through the sex-offender registry.

” All background checks and vetting reviews came back clean,” the release said. ” There were no red flags from any vetting efforts.”

According to an arrest affidavit, Hocker agreed to pay $300 for sex with two girls — ages 11 and 14 — for an hour. Officials say the teacher didn’t know he was really talking with undercover officers after responding to an ad placed onBackpage.com.

Prosecutors asked that Hocker’s bond be set at $100,000 — well above the $20,000 standard for the charges he faces — because “he is a danger to the community.” In a motion, the district attorney’s office said Hocker has a history of working with children.

Federal agents say they believe Hocker could have more victims from his work with children and ask anyone with information on him to call HSI’s toll-free tip line at 1-866-DHS-2-ICE.

Another man arrested, 34-year-old Surat Suvanprateep, is an employee at Aurora Public Schools who works in a warehouse position that does not put him in contact with children, prosecutors say.

“To protect the most vulnerable in our society, we must be proactive — identifying and apprehending predators who have decided to take advantage of our children,” David A. Thompson, special agent in charge of HSI’s Denver division, said in a statement.

Pedophile Tracking FL Man Accused of Sexually Abusing 12 Year Old Portland Girl

A 42-year-old Florida man is accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl he met through the social media site Instagram.

Police believe Sergio Zambrano met the girl on Instagram three weeks ago and lied about his age and convinced her to send him nude photos of herself and engage in sexually-explicit chats with him.

Zambrano flew to Portland and spent the weekend with the girl, who told her parents she was spending the weekend at a friend’s house, according to Portland police.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

When the girl’s parents learned their daughter wasn’t at the friend’s house, they reached her on her cell phone and Zambrano took her home, police said. The victim’s parents had their daughter taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment and called the police.

Patrol officers, working with detectives from the bureau’s Child Abuse Team, located and arrested Zambrano at a room he rented at Motel 6, at 3104 S.E. Powell Blvd.

He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center at 4 a.m. Monday, accused of second-degree rape, two counts of second-degree sodomy, four counts of first-degree sex abuse, two counts of unlawful sexual penetration, two counts of encouraging child sex abuse, using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct and luring a minor.

Zambrano is scheduled to be arraigned in court Tuesday afternoon.

The Portland Police Bureau encourages parents to talk to their children about appropriate activity on social media and the dangers that exist in the virtual world.

Families wanting to learn more information on how to prevent child sexual exploitation are encouraged to visit the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, http://www.missingkids.org

Private Detective: Christmas Cards Stolen From Post Office Drop Box

Lexington Police are looking for a man who might be able to help them figure out where dozens of stolen Christmas cards containing gift cars ended up before the holiday.

One Lexington woman says she dropped off nearly 40 cards to the Bluegrass Station post office but would later learn that several of them never left the drop box on Lansdowne Drive.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“She went and did her own investigation and found out that one of the gift cards that she’d sent had a Walmart gift card in it as a gift to someone and it never made it, but it had been cashed,” Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department told LEX 18’s Kristen Pflum.

Using the code on the card, police were able to trace it to a man who drove to the Walmart in Hamburg to use the card.

Detectives wonder if he knew it was stolen.

“This could be something that he bought at a pawn shop through a third party, or online. So we don’t want to say right away this is the person who stole the mail, but we do want to talk to him about how he came into possession of a stolen gift card,” said Thomas.

If the man didn’t steal it, police wonder who did.

“If mail is being stolen at a post office, not only is that a felony, but that affects peoples’ confidence in the postal service,” said Thomas. “So we want to make sure if we have someone that’s inside that’s stealing mail that’s been dropped off for delivery that we catch that person.”

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.

Call the Crime Stoppers tipline at (859) 253-2020.
