Wrongful Death Body of Amish Minister’s Wife Exhumed For Tests

A Kentucky Amish minister is facing murder charges after confessing that he poisoned his wife back in 2006.

Samuel Borntreger made his confession to authorities in Barren County this week.

He told investigators he poisoned Anna Borntreger while they lived in Missouri.

She was buried there and now she is being dug up.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

The Sheriff in Harrison County Missouri learned about the confession Sunday.

Borntreger, 39, admitted to giving his wife antifreeze in her drinks and putting battery acid in her body between November and December of 2006.

“I was overcome with emotion to think that you would do that to somebody,” said Harrison County, MO Sheriff Josh Eckerson.

He had been a well-known cabinet maker through the year and made the cabinets in the Harrison County Courthouse.

He is from Kentucky and after his wife’s death moved back to Metcalfe where he became a minister just before the confession.

“He just wanted to clear the air and let everybody know what was hiding in his closet,” said Eckerson.

Authorities plan to transport Anna Borntreger’s body to Kansas City to test for chemicals.

Samuel Borntreger remains in the Barren County Jail right now. His first degree murder charges are in Missouri, he is set to appear in court there for an arraignment Wednesday, January 20.

Private Detective: TX Man Added to the US Marshals’ Most Wanted List

One Texas man has been added to the U.S. Marshals’ Most Wanted List and while he was on the run, he lived in Kentucky.

William Greer found a job in Georgetown, joined a church and was even baptized during his six weeks he spent in Georgetown. He was on the lam for murder and no one in Georgetown had any idea.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

He even had a girlfriend with while he was in Kentucky in 2007.

Greer had successfully blended in to his Georgetown neighborhood.

His cover was blown when America’s Most Wanted aired his photo and described his bizarre drunken behavior after he’d allegedly shot and killed his then girlfriend, Tammy Esquivel, in Texas in 2006.

Greer hit the road after that, leaving behind his trademark cowboy hat and marble.

He later came back to Kentucky in 2008 and that is where he moved in with a woman.

In 2008, LEX 18’s Kristen Pflum sat down with that Northern Kentucky woman who said that she knew Greer as Billy Renaker. She dated him for a while and they lived together.

She says she had a lot of suspicions and her questions were answered with a few clicks on the internet where she found out he was a fugitive.

“I found an ID.  It was his name, but not the same picture.  When I questioned it, he said he was wanted for tax evasion,” she told Kristen.

There has been no sign of William Greer in Kentucky since then, but in the 10 years he has been on the run, he has been spotted in Georgia and Louisiana.

U.S. Marshals are trying to end Greer’s decade on the run.

The U.S. Marshals’ Office is now offering a $25,000 reward for his capture.

Police describe Greer as extremely vain and skilled in martial arts. They say he has a cocaine and alcohol addiction, chain smokes and is missing a right toe.

Cold Case From 1982 Reopened For Missing 14 Year Old in Fremont, CA

Fremont police have reopened a missing person case from three decades ago and are asking for the public’s help.

Daniel Naylor, then 14 years old, went missing around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 5, 1982, after an argument with his parents at his home on Nightingale Place, police said.

Naylor was last seen leaving his house in an unknown direction. Neighbors conducted a search and were able to locate his bike along the Alameda Creek Regional Trail.

http://liarcatchers.com/cold_cases.html

About one month after his disappearance, investigators allege when no one was home, Naylor returned to his house and took every piece of property belonging to him. He was neither seen nor heard from after the incident and the case went cold.

Last summer, Fremont detectives said they were contacted by the Folsom Police Department stating they had located a man in their city that looked similar to an age-progressed photo that had been released of Naylor at age 44.

Investigators said, after an extensive investigation, it was determined through forensic evidence that the man was not Naylor.

Following the Folsom incident, Fremont police said they decided to reopen the case and are investigating leads that Naylor may be missing because of foul play rather than running away.

Naylor was last seen wearing a gray half T-shirt, red shorts and high top tennis shoes. At the time, he was 5 foot 9 inches, 160 pounds, had brown hair, blue eyes and was wearing braces.

Anyone with information may contact Fremont police Detective Jacob Blass at (510) 790-6900 or email ColdCaseDetective@fremont.gov.

Wrongful Death OH Triple Homicide Suspect Had History of Drug Charges

Federal court documents say Wendell Callahan grew up without a father figure and has spent most of his adult life behind bars.

Callahan remained hospitalized Wednesday under police guard. He was charged with three counts of murder Tuesday.

Columbus police investigators believe Callahan somehow got inside the apartment of his former girlfriend, Erveena Hammonds, and stabbed Hammonds and her two daughters to death. Investigators say Callahan was then confronted by Hammonds’s current boyfriend, Curtis C. Miller. The two men fought and both sustained stab wounds. Callahan was critically injured. Miller was treated and released.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

In 2006, Erveena Hammonds told Columbus police that Callahan assaulted her. The police report says Callahan grabbed Hammonds by the throat, “picked her up off the ground with her feet dangling in the air”…. “began kicking, stomping and punching her.” Hammonds told police she believed Callahan would have killed her if a Good Samaritan had not come by.

Not long after that Callahan went to federal prison on cocaine charges, sentenced initially to 150 months. His sentence was reduced – first to 110 months and then down to 100 months because of retroactive changes in federal sentencing guidelines.

Callahan successfully completed a number of prison programs including training in “rational thinking.”

It’s not clear yet what prompted the stabbing rampage early Tuesday or whether there had been any warning signs.

Hammonds’s sister in law, Natasha Hubbard-Taylor, says Hammonds had not mentioned any concerns.

“If she was afraid of him, she never expressed that to me and maybe because of our close relationship she didn’t want me to feel like it was something to worry about,” Hubbard-Taylor said.

Sue Villilo, executive director of CHOICES for domestic violence victims, says it’s not uncommon for victims to keep things to themselves.

“They don’t want to share with people that ‘this is happening to me’ because they feel like they’re to blame,” Villilo said. “Part of the victimization is convincing the victim that they deserve what’s happening to them so that this becomes very hard to share with someone else.”

Villilo urged victims to speak up before it’s too late.

“If they’re already physically harming you or emotionally harming you or threatening to kill you or a family member, that’s not something to write off,”Villilo said. “You should take that seriously and you should get help.”
