A man in LaRue County has been sentenced for sexually abusing three children.

According to the LaRue County Herald News, Abe Hershberger, 41, will be spending five years in jail each on three counts of first degree sexual abuse. He will also have to register as a sex offender.

Hershberger is in the LaRue County Detention Center.

The FBI is asking for help in locating a 16-year-old Mooresville girl last seen Dec. 9.

Elisabeth Danielle Mayo, who also goes by “Lissie,” stands at 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs around 230 pounds. She has red hair with hazel eyes.

She was last seen leaving her home Dec. 9 wearing black stretch pants with white print, a gray or pink zip-up hoodie and a black beanie, the FBI said.

Her hair is shaved on the right side.

Mayo has not been heard from since she left her home early Dec. 9.

She is known to frequent the Mooresville library and local parks.

A businessman who prosecutors say stole more than $100 million in insurance premiums to live a life of luxury has been sentenced to 37 years in prison.

Forty-year-old Jeffrey Brian Cohen of Reisterstown, about 25 miles northwest of Baltimore, was also ordered to pay restitution at sentencing Thursday in Baltimore federal court, prosecutors said in a news release.

Four days into his trial in June, prosecutors say, Cohen pleaded guilty to wire fraud and other offenses.

Cohen used the premiums to buy a multi-million dollar house in Florida, three homes in Maryland and expensive cars such as a Bentley.

Two brothers who were arrested late last month by Las Cruces police on suspicion of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old boy have been indicted by a Doña Ana County grand jury.

Jorge “George” Uriostigue, 39, and Francisco “Frank” Uriostigue, 41, are each charged with first-degree criminal sexual penetration (child under 13) and second-degree criminal sexual contact of a minor (child under 13), according to indictments filed Thursday in 3rd Judicial District Court in Las Cruces.

The brothers also are charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, assault on a peace officer, and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.

The brothers were arrested Nov. 27 at a home in the 1500 block of Dodgen Court. Their arrest came a day after the boy disclosed to a family friend that he had been repeatedly sexually assaulted by the men, who also allegedly forced the boy to watch pornographic movies, according to criminal complaints filed in Doña Ana County Magistrate Court.

In court documents, Jorge Uriostigue is described as the boy’s stepfather. At the time of the alleged assaults, which police said occurred within the past year, he had been in a relationship with the boy’s mother. Police also said the brothers lived with the woman and her son at the home on Dodgen Court.

On Thanksgiving Day, the boy disclosed to a family friend that he was “inappropriately touched” by the brothers. The boy also told the family friend that his stepfather, Jorge Uriostigue, would expose his genitals to him and that Francisco Uriostigue would force him to watch pornographic movies.

The boy later described another incident in which he said he was sexually assaulted by the two brothers.

During their arrest, the brothers became so combative with police that the officers had to deploy stun guns. At one point, Jorge Uriostigue allegedly charged at an officer, who, “in fear for his safety,” began striking the man with his duty baton, the court documents state.

The brothers were booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on bonds set at $100,000 each. Both remain in custody, online records show.

The brothers are scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 21 before District Judge Manuel Arrieta in 3rd Judicial District Court in Las Cruces.

Charges in indictments are merely accusations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

After more than two weeks, police still have no leads as to the whereabouts of a local resident.

According to the Lewisville Police Department, James Bryan Smith was last seen at his home in the 1500 block of Dogwood Trail on Nov. 20. His roommate, who was the last to see him, said Smith was cleaning out his van in order to do mechanical work on it. The roommate said Smith was talking about buying a car.

“We don’t know if he walked away from his house or left with someone,” said Capt. Dan Rochelle.

Rochelle said the roommate didn’t know if Smith was meeting someone to buy a car.

“He left his van, wallet, keys and cell phone in the house,” Rochelle said.

Smith has not been seen or heard from since that day. It is unknown what clothing Smith was wearing when he was last seen, but he is known to wear blue jeans, work boots and a work jacket. His sister reported him missing Nov. 27 after he failed to show up for Thanksgiving.

“We’ve talked to neighbors and family. They have told us he wasn’t having problems with anyone and hadn’t been in any recent arguments,” Rochelle said. “According to them he has never wandered off like this before.”

Smith is a 50-year-old white male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches and 180 pounds with brown eyes and hair. He has been clean-shaven and has had a close-cut hairstyle since April. He also has a tattoo on top of his left forearm of the letters “ZEP.”

Police said there is no evidence of foul play, and Smith has no history of any mental or health issues.

Smith moved to Lewisville a few months ago and met his roommate through his church. Prior to that he lived with his sister and is originally from North Carolina.

Rochelle said police are asking for the public’s help in locating Smith. He said police have also put Smith’s information in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) in case any law enforcement locates Smith. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a routine Sex Offender Compliance check early Wednesday morning December 9. 2015.

Approximately 50 peace officers from several agencies were assigned to 10 teams and attempted to check approximately 110 Registered Sex Offenders living within Cherokee County, excluding the City of Jacksonville.

During the compliance check, Cherokee County Detective Martin Pepin, along with Rusk Police Department, Smith County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Public Safety (DPS) went to a residence in the 5000 block of FM 1857, southwest of Rusk.

Inside the residence, officers located two males and a female.  The female subject was attempting to conceal a small child when the officers arrived.  During the investigation it was found that the child was not related any of the occupants of the residence and had been left at this location by the child’s mother, approximately four days prior.

Child Protective Services (CPS) was contacted, arrived on scene where they took custody of the child.  The mother of the child has since been identified.

Located inside the residence were firearms.  A vehicle was located on the property that was reported as stolen through the Rusk Police Department.

The following were arrested at the scene and the bonds were set by Precinct two, Judge Tony Johnson:

31-year-old Timothy Andrew Gorko, Rusk, charged with Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Felon, bond was set at $25,000. Gorko was also charged with Violation of Parole. He is being held without bond on that charge.

29-year-old Elizabeth Marie Gorko, Rusk, charged with Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Felon, bond is $25,000, Gorko is also charged with Violation of Parole.

28-year-old Brandon Scott Jones,of Rusk, charged with Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Felon. Bond was set at $25,000

The incident on FM 1857 is still under investigation and additional charges are pending.

Jacksonville Police Department administers the Registered Sex Offenders within their City.

Each team was responsible to locate and interview the individual Offenders and verify addresses and other information required by law.

Several are being investigated in reference to charges of non-compliance with the State Sex Offender Registration Program.  This agency will pursue any criminal charges for non-compliance as set out by State Laws of Texas, in regards to Duty to Register.

A Pulaski County man was arrested on charges related to child sexual exploitation Thursday after Kentucky State Police served a search warrant at his home.

Daniel I. Jarrin, 21, is charged with six counts of distribution and one count of possession of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor.

Each charge is a Class-D felony, punishable from one to five years in prison.

Jarrin was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. Detectives with the KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after observing Jarrin sharing images of child sexual exploitation online, including images of prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts.

The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Jarrin’s residence in Somerset on Thursday, December 10, 2015, by the KSP Electronic Crime Branch. Troopers from Post 11-London assisted on scene. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s Forensic Laboratory for examination.

Jarrin was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

A Rancho Tehama man has been sentenced to 40 years in state prison for sexually abusing three 4-year-old girls, and showing them pornography.

Edward Charles Madden Sr., 58, received the sentence in Tehama County Superior Court by Judge Jonathan Skillman this week.

In a plea agreement with the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office, Madden admitted to committing the abuse and pled guilty to two counts of continual sexual abuse and one court of lewd act on a child by force, according to court documents.

Madden was arrested at his Elder Creek Circle residence in Rancho Tehama on April 2 by a Tehama County sheriff’s deputy. He was booked into the jail on charges of sodomy with a child, sexual penetration of a child, showing harmful matter to a child, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of brass knuckles, prohibited possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, and other charges. Bail was set at $4 million.

Court documents state Madden’s abuse of the girls, two which are related to him and the other a family friend, included sexual intercourse, sodomy, oral copulation and other sexual abuse, occurring between Sept. 1, 2014 and Feb. 27, 2015.

Tehama County Dep. D.A. Randy Alvey prosecuted the case.

A man was shot during a home invasion that happened around 6:00 p.m. in Lincoln County Thursday.

The invasion happened on Ester Spur Road and the homeowner was shot in the leg. He was flown to UK for treatments of his injuries.

Police say they are looking for one suspect, a man in his early 20s. He was dressed in camo and wearing a mask.

United States Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr. today announced the 30-month prison sentence of a New Albany, Indiana, man who previously pleaded guilty to charges of interstate transportation for prostitution, by Chief Judge Joseph H. McKinley, Jr. in U.S. District Court.

David McNeary, age 34, pleaded guilty to three charges in a grand jury indictment on August 3, 2015. He was charged by grand jury indictment on May 20, 2015, and was arrested Friday, May 22, 2015, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. McNeary was placed on home detention with work release.

According to the plea agreement, between January 2014 and March 2014, McNeary, knowingly transported four different adult females during at least three different trips from Indiana to Kentucky, with the intent that they engage in prostitution.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Amanda Gregory and was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
