Floyd County Sheriff’s deputies uncovered a meth lab in a vehicle during a traffic stop Saturday night.

Deputies were acting on a tip that a makeshift lab was operating inside a late model gold Lincoln with three occupants.

Deputies located the described vehicle and conducted a traffic stop along in Allen.  As deputies approached the vehicle they immediately detected a very strong odor coming from inside the vehicle.  Deputies also noticed a garbage bag in the rear floorboard with what appeared to be a white fog and vapors coming from the bag.

During the search, three separate one-step meth labs were discovered from inside the bag with additional bi-products from the manufacturing of crystal meth discovered from other areas of the vehicle along with pre-cursors such as liquid Drano, salt, batteries, butane lighters and other items.

The three occupants were de-contaminated on-site before being transported to the Floyd County Jail. Two of the arrested were Benjamin Ruben Davis and Charles Hall Jr. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department did not identify the third person.

A Pender County man was sentenced to 50 years in prison after he was convicted of several child sex offense charges.

Roy Lee Stubbs, 48, of Burgaw, was found guilty Wednesday by a Pender County jury  on charges of three counts of sex offense with a child, one count of 2nd degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and two counts of felony secret peeping, according to a notice from District Attorney Ben David.

The trial involved testimony from two of Stubbs’ victims, both of whom were abused for years.

The jury found that Stubbs sexually molested the female victim between 2010-2013, while she was between the age of 9 and 12 years old. The other victim, now an adult, was able to provide testimony regarding her abuse by Stubbs over a decade ago.

Assistant District Attorney Jason Smith credits the conviction to the actions of two brave victims for confronting their abuser and the hard work of Detective John Leatherwood with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office.

“This type of case involves the safety of our youth and is a top priority for both investigators and the Office of the District Attorney. We will continue to work together to bring these crimes to light, prosecute predators, and prevent future victimization,” Smith said.

Stubbs was sentenced by Judge Jay Hockenbury to 50-65 years in the N.C. Department of Corrections. He will also be subject to satellite-based monitoring and have to register as a sex offender upon release from prison.

Lexington police are searching for the suspect involved in a robbery at the Walmart on Richmond Road Sunday night.

According to police, the suspect followed a woman to her car around 6:45 p.m. He allegedly grabbed her arm, demanded money and implied he had a weapon.  During a short struggle, the woman hit the alarm button on her car keys, scaring the suspect off.

Family members tell LEX18 the victim is a 77-year-old woman.

The suspect is described as a white man with facial hair and about 24-years-old. He was last seen wearing a blue UK hoodie, black pants, and white shoes.

Lexington Police are working to locate two missing children.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on December 12, officers responded to the 400 block of McConnell’s Trace in reference to two missing children.

The first child, a white female, 14, was identified as the mother of the second child who is a one week old boy. Both children were found to be missing from the home at approximately 6:30 p.m. The children are originally from Louisville and have no known ties to the Lexington area. The mother may be attempting to travel back to the Louisville area.

A pastor says someone broke into his Lexington home while he was out of town and stole presents from right underneath the tree. Now, the family is hoping for a Christmas miracle; to recover some of the estimated thousands of dollars worth of valuables that are now gone.

It was the message no one wants to receive. Pastor Cristobal Napoleon says he was out of town last week for a family emergency when his house was broken into and ransacked.

“They pushed the garage and you know, opened up,” said Pastor Napoleon.

The garage is located in the back of the house, facing Hummons Lane. Once inside the garage, Napoleon says those responsible used his own tools to break in the interior door.

“This area is, you know, is not very safe,” said the pastor.

Pastor Napoleon says many things were taken including a tv, several Christmas gifts under the tree, and personal also identification papers.
Napoleon says the thieves took the church’s tithe money as well as tools he used as a mechanic in his secondary job.

“They take all my tools, two air compressors, one heater, a blow heater,” he said.

Napoleon estimates a loss of nearly $10,000.

A Pulaski County man was arrested on charges related to child sexual exploitation Thursday after Kentucky State Police served a search warrant at his home.

Daniel I. Jarrin, 21, is charged with six counts of distribution and one count of possession of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor.

Each charge is a Class-D felony, punishable from one to five years in prison.

Jarrin was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. Detectives with the KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after observing Jarrin sharing images of child sexual exploitation online, including images of prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts.

The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Jarrin’s residence in Somerset on Thursday, December 10, 2015, by the KSP Electronic Crime Branch. Troopers from Post 11-London assisted on scene. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s Forensic Laboratory for examination.

Jarrin was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

The Tallahassee Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is seeking information on the location of Ms. Tykia Love.

Ms. Love was last seen on December 12, 2015, at approximately 1:25 am, in the 2400 block of Mission Road in Tallahassee. Ms. Love was last seen wearing black panties, a peach and white bra and a leopard print robe. She is driving a 1996 Buick Regal, maroon in color, with Florida tag of #GAAF12.

The Nelson County community is holding a candlelight vigil Saturday night for a Kentucky teen killed at a post office earlier this month. Police say Rasheed Javon Wickliffe died December 1st during what they say was a drug deal.

During the vigil, community leaders will share a message of strength and plan to talk to young people about the importance of standing together.
The vigil is being held tonight at 6 o’clock at the post office where Wickliffe died.

Wickliffe graduated from Bardstown High School earlier this year.

18-year-old Alexander Roberts has been charged with his death.

A man in Clark County has been indicted on 105 counts of child pornography.

The Winchester Sun reports that Christopher Lee West, 33, was arrested by KSP in October.

The paper says troopers were alerted by Winchester Police after someone online told them that West was trying to lure kids to participate in sexual encounters.

Detectives say they were able to trace in IP address to West’s home, where they found child pornography.
