Identity Theft Dallas, TX Woman Sentenced to 10 Years

An Ellis County jury sentenced Sophia Martinez Castillo, 44, of Dallas, to 10 years in prison and a fine of $10,000 for identify theft on Wednesday.

Castillo was specifically charged with possessing the victim’s name, date of birth, address and social security number.

On May 5, 2014, Castillo used stolen identification to rent a moving truck and attempted to purchase more than $4,000 worth of shingles from a building supply company in Ennis. The building supply company suspected a fraud and contacted Ennis police. Castillo falsely identified herself with the victim’s information to the police but there were outstanding warrants for the arrest of Castillo’s victims, which were executed by the police. Only after Castillo was arrested was her true identity established.

A search of the rented moving truck found multiple notebooks containing identifying information of several people along with an estimated 100 credit card numbers. Castillo has several prior felony convictions for forgery, tampering with a governmental record and fraudulent use of possession of identifying information.

Pointing to Castillo’s criminal history, assistant county and district attorney Rickey Sipes asked the jury for the maximum sentence. He argued that she received probation in 2003 and short prison sentences in 2009 and 20012 from the Dallas and Tarrant Counties courts.

“It is now time to send her to prison for the maximum punishment allowed,” he argued.

The jury returned with a maximum sentence after deliberating for 15 minutes.

Private Detective: Corbin Couple Asks For The Public’s Help To Find Their Trained Dog

A deaf couple in Corbin is asking the public to help them find their missing dog that was trained to help them.

Baby Girl was last seen at a Marathon Gas Station near the Whitley and Knox County line.

The past two weeks have been very hard on Larry and Flossie Evans.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“He don’t want another dog, he wants Baby Girl back because she knows that Mamaw and Papaw are deaf and she knows, she was very smart,” said Lisa Smith, Larry and Flossie’s daughter.

The dog went missing October 14th. Lisa told LEX 18’s Megan Moore that her mother took Baby Girl with her to get gas for the lawnmower, when she got the container out of the van to fill it up, the pump wasn’t working so she went inside to alert the attendant and forgot to close the van door.

Baby Girl has not been seen since.

Baby Girl would help the couple, she was trained to let them know when someone was at the door or if someone was around the house.

Larry Evans asks that someone please bring the dog back because they are handicapped and need the dog at home. They ask that if anyone see Baby Girl, to call (606) 620-0195.

Private Detective: Manhunt Ends After 6 Days

After six days, three shoot outs and nearly a dozen police agencies later a Cumberland county community is at ease Friday night.

The convicted rapist and robber, Floyd Ray Cook, was shot and killed Friday morning.

“It’s sad, it’s very sad,” said Susan Cross after police shot and killed the dangerous career criminal who had been on the run since Saturday.

It was her tip that led investigators to Cook when she spotted him on her brother’s property Thursday night.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“What I did, of course the lights come on, and he stood right here just as still as he could be,” said Cross. “I thought I was seeing something.”

Cross immediately went inside the house and called police.

“We were able to tighten up our perimeter look in a smaller area and eventually came into contact with him,” said Trooper Billy Gregory, Kentucky State Police.

Trooper Gregory said the helicopter was able to spot Cook with a thermal camera.

He was lying in an embankment, armed.

When two troopers and a U.S. Marshal approached Cook, he opened fire.

“I said get in the bathroom,” Cross said. “Get in the bathroom away from the windows.”

Hours later, the Cumberland County Coroner pronounced Cook dead at the scene.

“Regardless of who he was and what his history was we hate that it ended this way,” said Trooper Gregory. “That’s not what we want ever.”

With Cook shot dead and his alleged accomplices behind bars people in Cumberland County say they’ll sleep a little better.

“I hate it,” said a neighbor.”I hate it but he had to go.”

“I hate it had come to this but you know we didn’t know what he was gonna do,” said Cross. “He had a chance to turn himself in and he didn’t.”

Troopers say Cook was shot several times, no officers were hurt.
