Pedophile Tracking Wisconsin Man Faces 20 Years

A Wisconsin man who made pornographic photos of an underage girl and traveled to Knoxville in hopes of meeting a 12-year-old girl faces a 20-year federal prison sentence.

Eric M. Johnson, 29, of Janesville, Wis., was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Knoxville by U.S. District Judge Pamela R. Reeves.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Johnson, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee, pleaded guilty in April to using a minor to produce child porn and traveling interstate to have sex with a minor.

After trading emails about his interest in having sex with a 12-year-old girl with an undercover officer, he was arrested in October 2014 in Knoxville. He’d traveled from Wisconsin to East Tennessee, thinking he’d be able to meet up with the girl, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Authorities, using a search warrant, checked his cell phone. They found video recordings in which he’d molested an underage girl, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The Knoxville Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations worked the case.

Pedophile Tracking Convicted Sex Offender Charged For Babysitting

A convicted sex offender in Randolph County is facing even more charges after deputies say he was babysitting for multiple families.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office charged 34-year-old Anthony J. Green of Asheboro with 11 counts of felony babysit by/home sex offender. He’s also charged with sex offender/child premises after he attended a social function at a playground in Ramseur. Green faces one charge of failing to report new address as a sex offender as well.

Deputies arrested Green Wednesday afternoon. He is currently at the Randolph County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond. If he is able to get out on bail, he will have to wear an electronic monitoring device.

“If you’re charged with crimes against children you certainly can’t be around kids as the part of the registration process, which is way those laws are in place to protect our children. And this guy knew that, just didn’t abide by it,” Lt. Bernie Maness with the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives with the sheriff’s office said Green and his wife babysat children on numerous occasions. Sometimes, Green was watching the children by himself. Detectives said he has babysat at least ten times for three different families. More than three children under the age of 12 were involved. None of the families knew Green was a registered sex offender, according to deputies.

“This is something that’s on paperwork, this is something that’s told face to face to each individual offender and then just common sense, you know, do you think you can babysit kids if you’re felony convicted of crimes against kids?” Lt. Maness said.

The sheriff’s office said Green’s wife does not face any charges at this time. Detectives say Green misled his wife about whether he was allowed to be around children. The couple is no longer together.

Green became a registered sex offender in 2003 after serving 17 months in prison. He was charged with first degree sex offense involving a girl under the age of 13 and felony indecent liberties with a child.  He was just about to have a hearing to get off the registered sex offender list when deputies charged him.

The sheriff’s office is contacting the families who were provided the child care to determine the status of those children and if he had further contact with any other minors.

“There have been some statements by the kids that are cause for great concern. We’ve addressed that with the parents directly,” Lt. Maness said.

If you have any information, call the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office at 336-318-6699.

Arson Investigation Owners of NY Music Store Charged

A married couple who owned a music store and pawn shop in New York’s capital region has been charged with burning it down for insurance money after an investigator examining the claim noticed signs of arson.

Gary and Audrey Lane didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment Saturday at their Gloversville home following an indictment Friday on charges stemming from the April 10 fire at Dad’s Musical Instruments and More in Johnstown, about 45 miles northwest of Albany.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

But Fulton County District Attorney Louise K. Sira told The Daily Gazette of Schenectady (http://bit.ly/1iodsLu) the couple filed a $151,000 insurance claim for damaged instruments and destruction to their store shortly after the fire. They weren’t paid.

“In approximately five months’ time, this investigation was efficiently and thoroughly conducted,” he said. Sira wouldn’t comment on how the fire was started or the evidence of arson, first spotted by a Travelers Insurance investigator.

No one was injured in the blaze that destroyed the Lane’s building, which was once a church built in 1896. It took firefighters six hours to put out the blaze.

Gary Lane, 80, and his 56-year-old wife, Audrey, have been released on $10,000 bond each.

News photographs of the scene following the fire show neighbors pulling blackened and charred guitars from the rubble.

“It’s a total loss,” Gary Lane told The Daily Gazette then, adding the store had between $250,000 and $300,000 in inventory at the time of the fire.

If convicted, Gary and Audrey Lane each face between five and 15 years in prison on each felony count.
