Private Detective: Man Arrested After Allegedly Firing Shots At House

A Lexington man has been arrested after shots rang out Sunday morning in a Lexington neighborhood off Versailles Road.

Police say Hunter Craig opened fire on a house from his car around 8:30 Sunday morning. Now, he’s being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

Lexington police say a Chevy pick-up truck pulled up in front of a house. After exchanging a few words, a man in that truck used a hand gun to fire the two shots, one of them towards the house and the other possibly in the air.

Officers did recover shell casings on scene and later arrested Hunter Craig on a wanton endangerment charge. Two people were outside and a small child was in the house at the time of the shooting.

The woman at the house tells police there have been “ongoing issues with an ex boyfriend.”

Fraud Investigation Man Duped Patients By Pretending To Be Clinical Psychologist

More than 100 patients were duped by a “dangerous scam artist” who posed as a clinical psychologist, met with patients in his basement and prescribed antidepressants, prosecutors said Friday in announcing his arrest.

Donald Lee-Edwards, 43, pleaded not guilty Thursday to criminal impersonation, drug sale, scheme to defraud and other charges.

Prosecutors say the former flight attendant routinely treated patients in a makeshift office in the basement of the Staten Island home he shares with his parents, which was outfitted with treatment rooms, a waiting area and high-tech security equipment.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

Authorities say Lee-Edwards would meet with each patient for about two hours and in some cases called pharmacies to fill prescriptions, avoiding the need for a state-issued prescription pad.

They allege he skirted the state’s electronic database that doctors use to prescribe controlled substances by calling in prescriptions for a common generic antidepressant that isn’t required to be entered into the database by either medical practitioners or pharmacists.

“This so-called ‘doctor’ is a dangerous scam artist who never completed any medical school or doctoral program,” Acting Richmond County District Attorney Daniel Master Jr. said. “He merely bestowed upon himself the professional titles of clinical psychologist and medical doctor; he is neither trained nor licensed to provide any mental health or medical services.”

Defense attorney Matthew Blum said there is no evidence Lee-Edwards ever harmed anyone.

“They’re alleging he was some sort of doctor who was operating on people,” Blum said. “They’re turning this guy into a monster. He was really just trying to help some people in his community.”

He declined to say whether Lee-Edwards had attended medical school.

Detectives began investigating Lee-Edwards in June after patients told authorities that his unorthodox bedside manner made them question whether he was really a doctor. The patients were suspicious because he had discussed other patients and boasted about graduating high school when he was 13 years old and also attending law school, authorities said.

When investigators raided his office, they found medical equipment, dozens of blood vials and a homemade identification card.

Lee-Edwards was being held Friday in lieu of $75,000 bail. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.

Private Detective: Babysitter Shoots at Children in Whitley County

Deputies say a Whitley County babysitter started shooting at the children she was watching. When officials arrived on scene, they say the loaded gun was still in her hand.

Police say two 8-year-olds ran into the street in the middle of the night and ended up at the home of a neighbor.  That’s where they told the people inside their babysitter was shooting at them.

According to an arrest citation, Lorie Cornett was watching the two children this past Sunday at her home on Skaggs Branch Road.  Police say they were told at around 11:15 that night the two kids came running to another home on Skaggs Branch, asking the people to call police.

Deputies say Cornett told the children she was going to kill them.

When deputies arrived at Cornett’s home, they say she opened the door holding a cocked and loaded pistol, leading authorities to believe that the children were telling the truth.

“The deputies took the gun and it had two spent cartridges in it and three empty cartridges were laying on the table inside. The kids were not hit fortunately, but they went through a lot,”  Sheriff Colan Harrell told LEX 18.

Police say she was under the influence of medication and alcohol and told police she had no knowledge of the kids being with her. Cornett was arrested and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center but bonded out the next day.

Private Detective: Two Elderly People Bound and Robbed in Home Invasion

An elderly man and his 97-year-old mother say they were tied up in their Covington home for an hour as two weapon-wielding thieves ransacked their house.

The incident occurred when two men came to Bill Rice’s door and said they wanted to use the phone. But Rice soon realized they wanted to get their hands on something else.

Wednesday afternoon, Bill says he went to the store when he came back two men were talking to his 97-year-old mother at the front door. Police say the pair asked for money but when Rice and his mother said they didn’t have any, the men barged into the home.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“They put a gun to my head and they had a knife also and they made me go upstairs and tied me up,” said Rice.

The thieves then tied them in the home’s bedroom.

For an hour the crooks ransacked the place. They eventually left, but not before threatening to kill both Rice and his mother.

His mother was eventually able to free herself and call police.

He says they took a lot of his mother’s jewelry, $100 and his cell phone. Both had bruises from being bound but neither Rice nor his mother were seriously hurt.
