Private Detective: Man Accused of Sexually Abusing Unconscious Woman Set to Begin Trial

The trial of man accused of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman at a Lexington adult club will begin Tuesday.

Police say Melissa Smiley, 37, passed out due to a respiratory illness inside Fillies Gentleman’s Club in July of 2013. The business was closed at the time, but people were working inside. Investigators say instead of calling for help, Clyde Sexton, 71, sexually abused Smiley for about 30 minutes.

Smiley later died.

Police charged Sexton with sexual abuse and evidence tampering. He was not charged for Smiley’s death.

Family members say Smiley could have been treated and saved if she’d received immediate help.

According to court documents, Sexton admitted to fondling Smiley, and part of the incident was captured by a surveillance camera.

Sexton’s trial is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Wrongful Death San Diego Police Search for Homicide Suspect

San Diego police homicide investigators continued to search Monday for a man suspected of fatally shooting his wife Saturday in Scripps Ranch and fleeing in a Corvette.

The victim, Tressa Green, 37, had just left a meeting with her husband, Jeremy Green, when she was shot about 2:10 p.m. in the parking lot of a commercial complex on Business Park Avenue near Old Grove Road, police homicide Lt. Paul Rorrison said Monday.

Rorrison said he could not disclose the nature of the meeting. He said earlier that the shooting apparently followed a domestic dispute.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Investigators have worked nonstop on the case, he said, and law-enforcement officials nationwide have been notified about the suspect and the car, a 2007 silver Chevrolet Corvette with a black roof. It has a California license plate of 5YGE642.

“We’re not going to stop. We’re confident we’re going to get him in custody,” the lieutenant said.

Witnesses told police that a man pulled out a gun and shot a woman multiple times while they were arguing. Tressa Green suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and died at the scene, Rorrison said.

Investigators on Sunday found a shotgun at Marian Bear Memorial Park, near Genesee Avenue and state Route 52, that may be connected to the shooting, Rorrison said. The park is about 8 miles from where the shooting occurred.

Court records show that Tressa Green filed for divorce in April, citing irreconcilable differences. She was living on Turtleback Road in Rancho Bernardo, and homicide detectives searched the home Saturday night.

According to court records, the couple married in October 2005 and have two children.

Jeremy Green is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, about 185 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.

Rorrison said Green is considered armed and extremely dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone with information on his location can contact San Diego police, any local law-enforcement agency, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (888) 580-8477.

Wrongful Death Investigation in Tigard, Oregon

Investigators are trying to learn what led to a homicide outside a home in Tigard.

The apparent shooting death Sunday night is the third homicide in Tigard this year – a statistic police say is extremely rare.

Jim Wolf, spokesman for the Tigard Police Department, told KATU that officers know the house on Southwest Hamlet Street well.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

They responded to four calls there last month alone, including a disorderly conduct call on May 22 as well as a call about suspicious behavior on May 12 and a domestic-related call the day before that.

Wolf said someone inside the house called 911 just after 8 p.m.

“It was a call stating that someone believes that they had heard a gunshot,” said Wolf.

When officers arrived, they found a body on the side of the house, and discovered a man named William Schultz, 26, had been taken to the hospital with a wounded leg.

Schultz was treated and released by doctors and then arrested on a charge that’s unrelated to the case, a parole violation.

Wolf said there’s no indication this was a random act, and that neither of the victims was residents of the home.

“We don’t know, for whatever reason, why both of these individuals found themselves at this location,” said Wolf.

Neighbors, including one young man who asked to remain anonymous, described the house as “sketchy.”

“A lot of suspicious activity, a lot of people rolling in,” said the young man, who KATU is calling Sam — “just a lot of cars rolling in, people come up and down the road.”

Sam said he graduated from Tigard High School last year and that he went there with a boy who lives at the home.

“I knew him in the 8th grade and then after I found out he was getting into a lot of stuff, I just kind of stopped hanging out with that group of people,” said Sam

At one point Monday, a KATU crew saw an SUV pull in to the home’s driveway.

A woman and a teenage boy got out.

The crew tried to talk with them but the boy told a KATU reporter to leave as he and the woman ran inside.

Sam said he has no idea who was killed.

“It’s shocking to hear that something like this would happen so close to my house,” Sam said. “I’m kind of like emotionally distressed, just kind of in shock that everything went down the way it did.”

Police said they’d identified the person who died but were waiting to notify family members before releasing the victim’s name.

Lt. Michael Rouches, spokesman for the Hillsboro Police Department, said a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run on a mailbox there last night is registered to someone who’s had some sort of contact with the people at the Tigard home.

Rouches said officers have seized that vehicle and are looking for the driver.

Wrongful Death Two Women Plead Not Guilty in Death of Elderly Woman

The two women accused of murdering an elderly Rockcastle County woman appeared before a judge Monday to enter their pleas in the case.

Kimberly Slusher and Tabitha Howard pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, robbery and burglary in a Rockcastle County courtroom. The two are charged in the death of 86-year-old Mary Alice Hinton. Hinton died from blunt force trauma.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Neighbors say that Hinton was a kind, Christian woman and that her trusting nature may have been her undoing. Hinton’s relatives who flew in from Texas for her funeral also attended the arraignment.

“She had made the mistake several times of taking for granted that everybody was as good of a person as she was. She trusted in everybody and people took advantage of her sometimes,” the victim’s nephew, Danny Hinton told LEX 18 in an interview.

The hearing was delayed two hours after the defense attorney was trapped in I-75’s fatal crash.

Hinton’s funeral is also Monday.

Slusher and Howard will be back in court two weeks from today. Their bond remains at $750K.
