Police say Rice ran over 22-year-old Joshua Childers back in December of 2013. Officers say Rice was fighting with his girlfriend when Childers tried to break it up. The two men wrestled, and Rice hit Childers as he drove away from the scene. Childers later died at UK Hospital.

Rice was originally indicted on a murder charge.

Wrongful Death Bodies of Two Women Found In Pittsburgh, PA Home

Two women — one of whom had been reported missing — were found slain Thursday afternoon inside an East Hills home that Pittsburgh police continued to examine late into the night.

Officials have not said how Valorie Crumpton, 72, and her granddaughter Tionna Banks, 19, died, though some did hint that the crime scene — Ms. Crumpton’s house on Karl Street — was more complex than most.

“Inside that house is not a pleasant setting right now,” said Sonya Toler, Pittsburgh public safety spokeswoman, Thursday afternoon. “Right now, all I can tell you is that there was evidence of blood away from the bodies.”

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Allegheny County medical examiner Karl Williams, who typically delegates the crime scene processing to his staff, said he made a preliminary visit to the home Thursday afternoon.

“The longer they’re out there, the more complex it is,” he said, declining to say how the women had died before autopsies could be completed. Those exams are scheduled for today. Police have described the deaths as homicides.

Local real estate records show Ms. Crumpton bought the green, single-family house in 1984, and court records indicate that Ms. Banks had lived there in recent months, though she was most recently listed as living in the Hill District.

Ms. Toler said a worker at a social service agency contacted police Tuesday after Ms. Banks missed an appointment at an assigned time that day. A detective in the bureau’s missing-persons unit asked officers in the city’s Zone 5 station to look for her at Ms. Crumpton’s house Thursday afternoon.

When officers arrived shortly before 1 p.m. and knocked on the door, no one answered. “They smelled an odd odor that caused them concern,” Ms. Toler said. “They heard music coming from the inside of the house as well. With those two things going on, they decided that that was enough to force entry into the home.”

Inside, she said, officers found the two women, who appeared to be dead.

They heard the volume grow louder on the music and “immediately backed out thinking that there may have been somebody else inside of the structure and they called for SWAT,” Ms. Toler said.

The SWAT team, aided by a robot, checked the house and found that no one else was inside, she said,

Relatives and neighbors gathered outside the house, crying and occasionally yelling while detectives examined the scene.

Some neighbors said they had heard gunshots at various times the night before, but didn’t call police because the sound is common in their neighborhood and they weren’t entirely sure where it was coming from.

Robert Lumsden, 62, who lives nearby, said he was watching TV when he heard four or five shots about 9:30 p.m. Another neighbor, Renee Johnson, 60, said she heard about a half-dozen shots around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday and they seemed to come from the same direction as the Crumpton house.

Police have not released any information about a motive or suspects in the shootings. Court records show both women had previously obtained protection-from-abuse orders against different people.

Ms. Johnson said she had recently seen Ms. Crumpton with Ms. Banks’ child, though she did not recall exactly when. The whereabouts of the child could not be determined Thursday.

She knew Ms. Crumpton as “Miss Valorie” and described her as a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother.

“Whatever difficulties the children had, she would seek whatever she could,” Ms. Johnson said. “She was just a wonderful lady. You would hear her coming from the time she got off the bus because she would sing.”

Missing Person Lance Buckley of Stafford County, VA

The search for missing Stafford County father Lance Buckley continued Thursday in Northern Virginia, Washington D.C. and Maryland. Buckley, 33, was last seen by his family at around 8 a.m. Tuesday when his mother dropped him off at the Staffordboro Commuter Lot off Route 610 in Stafford where he slugs, or gets a ride with a stranger, to school at Howard University some 40 miles away.

Police released new information Thursday that may provide a clue into the father of two’s whereabouts.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

“Late yesterday afternoon, as the investigation continued, the phone that belonged to Lance Buckley was electronically located, very briefly, in the area of Blockhouse Point Conservation Park in Montgomery County, Maryland,” Stafford County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bill Kennedy said. “The Montgomery County Police Department initiated a search in that area but Lance Buckley was not located. The investigation continues.”

The park is about 30 miles from Howard University. Buckley, who was completing his PhD in microbiology, may have a handgun with him, police said. But they added he was “absolutely no danger to anyone.”

Wednesday, Buckley’s wife made an emotional appeal for his return.

“Lance, I love you so much no matter what I just want you to come home,” Amy Buckley said.”I just want you home, baby. I love you. You’re the love of my life.”

The Buckleys have two daughters, one of whom is less than two weeks old.

Deputies do not suspect the drivers who drove Buckley to D.C. were involved in his disappearance since records showed an ATM withdrawal and a text message from Howard’s campus. Buckley is described as a white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighing 150 pounds. He has brown hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark colored t-shirt and gray Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers.

Anyone who has seen Lance Buckley or knows his whereabouts was asked to contact the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office at 540-658-4400 or Crime Solvers at 540-659-2020.

Pedophile Tracking Killeen, TX Man Gets 50 Years

A Killeen man was sentenced to 50 years in state prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl.

Clayton Vincen Hale, 25, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault Wednesday in Judge John Gauntt’s 27th Judicial District Court.

Leslie McWilliams prosecuted the case that resulted in Hale’s conviction.

According to Paul McWilliams, Bell County’s first assistant district attorney, there was no plea bargain offered by the state.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

“It was an open plea,” he said.

According to an arrest affidavit, in July 2013, the victim’s parents came forward to police after the victim made an outcry of being sexually assaulted by Hale.

The female victim, now 8 years old, told investigators and a sexual assault nurse examiner that Hale performed inappropriate sex acts on her.

The affidavit said the sex acts began when the child was 6 and continued until she was 8.

When police interviewed Hale, he admitted having sex with the child. McWilliams said cases where a child’s innocence is lost are among the most heinous.

“That’s basically the argument that we make,” he said. “However long that defendant gets, the child is sentenced to life essentially. They’ve got to live with that the rest of their lives, especially when we’re talking about little bitty kids between 6 and 8.”
