Wrongful Death New Developments in Death of Colorado Boy

There are new developments in the case of a murdered Colorado boy. The La Plata County Sheriff’s Department says it’s investigating new activity related to Dylan Redwine’s death.

At the time, the 13-year-old boy lived with his mother in Monument, just north of Colorado Springs. Redwine was visiting his father in the southwest corner of Colorado in the town of Vallecito when he disappeared. His remains were discovered nearby on Middle Mountain nearly two years ago.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

To date, no suspects or persons of interest have been named. The La Plata County Sheriff’s Department refers to it as a murder investigation.

In regards to the ‘new activity’ being investigated, the La Plata County Sheriff’s Department said it would not discuss anything related to the case.

“There are new pieces of information that we know and unfortunately because this is an ongoing investigation I can’t really speak to what they are,” Elaine Redwine, Dylan’s mother told us.

Elaine Redwine has been her son’s biggest advocate. Although her Dylan’s case has grown cold over the last year, it’s about to heat up once again. Elaine Redwine just got back from taping a new, updated episode for the Dr. Phil Show which will be shown on national television.

A few months before Dylan’s remains were discovered Elaine Redwine appeared on the talk show. She and Dylan’s father, Mark Redwine, lashed out at each other over their son’s disappearance.

Elaine blamed Mark and Mark blamed Elaine. Dr. Phil wanted to make it easy on them, so he offered both parents a lie detector test. Elaine passed her test, and 20 minutes into his, Mark Redwine said he didn’t feel he could complete it due to a lack of sleep and having consumed a half bottle of Jim Beam the night before.

This latest episode is said to be more revealing.

“There’s  a plea from Dr. Phil to Mark to take the polygraph again. Dr. Phil was going to send [his lie detector test] out to wherever Mark was to take it. And Mark declined,” Elaine Redwine said.

Mark Redwine doesn’t appear on the latest episode in person. He did however call into the show.

Mark Redwine also declined to discuss the show with us. He said, “I could say something, but it probably would be inappropriate”.

The new Dr. Phil episode is expected to air in May.

Private Detective: Lexington Police Investigate 3 Shooting in 4 Hours

The Saturday sunset brought out plenty of violence in Lexington. Police responded to 3 shootings in a span of just a few hours Saturday evening, which left two people with gunshot wounds.

The first shooting happened around 6 p.m. near Loudon and Winchester Road, in what police are calling a road rage incident. A friend of the victim says he was a passenger in his friend’s truck. As the two approached Winchester and Loudon, a white SUV came up behind them and hit them.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php
He says his friend flipped the driver of the vehicle off, and then someone in the SUV fired shots hitting the driver in the hand.

Just two hours later near the intersection of East 6th and Mustang Crossing, there was another call for shots fired.

Police still haven’t released many details on who may have been shooting or any injuries but Ronald Burns says he was just in his car talking to a friend when he heard the gunfire. Next thing he knew, his car was hit by a bullet.

“In the trunk right up under the license plate, and what saved me was a bag of towels I just got from a good friend of mine,” said Burns.

Around 9:30 Saturday night, a homeowner was shot in the hip during a home invasion on Bryan Avenue.

John Lewis doesn’t live far away and says as someone who walks a lot, it is hard to feel safe.

“I don’t want to get hit by no stray bullet by someone arguing with someone. They pull out a gun, shoot and miss and hit me,” said Lewis.

He now echoes the same cry that many people have.

“Stop the violence. That is all I want to add. Stop the violence,” he said.

Police say no arrests have been made in any of those three cases. If you have any information that could help, you are asked to call the police department.

Wrongful Death Man Pleads Guilty to Killing Girlfriend and Hiding Body

A Pulaski County man has pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend and hiding her body in a sinkhole.

Police told The Commonwealth Journal that 35-year-old Johnny Ray Hendrix left the residence on an ATV following a fight between the couple. He was gone about two hours, and relatives of the victim, 34-year-old Monica Wells, had no contact with her after that.

A ground search of the area turned up Wells’ body in a 12-foot-deep sinkhole.

Hendrix was arrested in October. Hendrix was convicted of murder and evidence tampering with the plea this week. Prosecutors recommended a 25-year prison sentence.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Eddy Montgomery said Wells’ family wanted to avoid a jury trial.

Police say there had been a substantial history of domestic abuse with the couple.

Pedophile Tracking West Michigan Sex Offender Charged

A man who admitted to police he molested up to eight boys in the 1980s was sentenced to prison on Friday, but not for the child sex abuse.

“The things he did to us we’re going to live with forever. We’ll get over them and move on, he changed the course of a lot of people’s lives,” said Brad White, one of Randall Doctor’s victims.

Doctor was sentenced to two years in prison on a gun charge and 30 months in prison on drug charges.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

In July of 2014, for the first time, one of Doctor’s victims went to authorities and Michigan State Police launched an investigation. MSP was able to find eight victims, all of whom had nearly identical stories.

“Here we have eight victims, eight men that came forward 30 years after theses assaults took place. I would stake my reputation that there are many, many people out there that do not want to come forward because of the embarrassment and they just don’t want to have to deal with it anymore,” MSP Detective Sgt. Gregory Poulson says.

According to the victims, Doctor would take them on rides in his truck to secluded locations and give them alcohol and drugs, often marijuana, and then molest them.

“We had to stop him because he was still going to hurt another kid and I don’t ever want anybody to live what we lived through,” Brad White said.

Last summer, police raided Doctor’s Muskegon County home and found guns and a marijuana growing operation, which led to the charges for which Doctor was sentenced on Friday.

Doctor can’t be brought up on child sex abuse charges because at the time the sex assaults occurred, Michigan had a statute of limitations on that type of crime. The law changed in 2001 to remove the statute of limitations on child sex crimes, but the change was not retroactive.

“Given the limitations of the changes we were able to bring against Mr. Doctor, in this case we are very pleased with the decision the judge made,” Muskegon County Assistant Prosecutor Rachael McEnhill said.

During questioning, Doctor admitted to authorities he had sexually molested the boys in the 1980s. Authorities also found a man with a similar story from the 1990s, but he told authorities he couldn’t remember if Doctor had molested him.

“For all those years, we lived with thinking we were bad people and just that there was something wrong with us,” White said.

Also during their investigation, police found that in the summer of 2014, Doctor took a 14-year-old boy that lived across the street from him on a trip to either Sleeping Bear Dunes or Silver Lake Dunes — the boy couldn’t remember. Police said they did not find any illegal behavior, but McEnhill said in court on Friday that she believed Doctor was grooming the boy.

Legislation in Lansing put forth by state Rep. Holly Hughes, R-Montague, would make Michigan’s 2001 law regarding child sex abuse cases retroactive. That would allow victims from when there was a statute of limitations to come forward and prosecutors to issue charges.

It’s a change the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office supports.

“The victims in this case and the community is aware (Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J.) Hilson and our office is supporting the legislation that would change the statute of limitations, thus allowing us to charge this case and pursue those criminal charges against Mr. Doctor, which we want to do,” McEnhill said.

“I feel justice has been served for this part of the process. I think it’s a good day for all of us as victims. We can put this day behind us and say, yeah, this is a stepping stone to get this law changed and help prevent this from happening to other victims in the future,” victim Bryan Derr said.

Doctor spoke to his victims in the courtroom Friday.

“I want to apologize to all the victims from years back. I’m very, very sorry for what I’ve done. I understand the pain you’ve been though because I’ve been though it myself. I didn’t realize how wrong I was at the time, but once I’ve gotten my head straightened out I tried to change now I know I’ve caused harm and I’m very sorry for what I did,” he said.

His victims and the prosecutor said the judge’s sentence of Doctor on Friday was a win.

“At least for the next few years, Mr. Doctor will not be able to perpetrate on the children on Muskegon County and to me that is a victory today,” McEnhill said.

“Now he’s gone and Muskegon is a safer place today because the children of Muskegon are safer because Randy Doctor is locked away,” White said.

Drug Dog Sweep More Than 11 Pounds of Marijuana Found in Stow, OH Hotel

Two Oregon men face felony charges after drug task force agents raided their Stow hotel rooms and found more than 11 pounds of marijuana, according to court records.

Howard Huang, 22, and Thai Ngo, 31, both of Beaverton, Oregon, are charged with second-degree felony drug trafficking. Both posted 10 percent of a $50,000 bond after their initial appearances in Stow Municipal Court.

The Summit County Drug Task Force reported they received a tip on April 9 that Huang was selling drugs from inside the Courtyard Marriott on Bridgewater Parkway, off Steels Corners Road.

http://liarcatchers.com/drugdogsweeps.html

Investigators checked with the hotel and found Huang rented two rooms, one of which was occupied by Ngo, court records say.

Task force officers watched the hotel the next day. They waited until Ngo left the hotel to bring a drug-sniffing dog inside the hotel.

The dog alerted police to drugs inside Huang’s room, according to court records.

Officers knocked on Huang’s door and he allowed them to search his room. Officers reported finding a black backpack that smelled like raw marijuana and text messages on Huang’s cellphone related to drug dealing, court records say.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper stopped Ngo on his way back from Wal-mart. He told the trooper that he was staying with a friend from Mogadore and denied knowing anything about drug dealing at the hotel, according to court records.

The trooper found Ngo had just purchased a suitcase, tin foil and citronella oil, which is used to transport drugs without detection, court records say.

Huang told police he had been traveling with another person for three days but didn’t know the man’s name. Ngo called Huang while police were searching their hotel rooms.

Officers found four cellphones, more than $2,600 and the marijuana during a search of the rooms, according to court records.

Wrongful Death Two Arrested in Connect With Death of UK Student

As a campus community mourns the murder of a beloved student, Lexington police wasted no time in charging two suspects in the death.

18-year-old Justin Smith and 20-year-old Efrain Diaz have been charged with the shooting death of UK student Jonathan Krueger. Krueger and a friend were walking on East Maxwell Street early Friday morning. Krueger was shot multiple times. When police arrived on scene the found Krueger lying in the street.

They transported him the UK Hospital where he died from his injuries.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Police have said nothing about the motive of the shooting but have said that it was a completely random incident.

Krueger was from Ohio and was a photo editor for The Kentucky Kernel, the UK student newspaper. He was also a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. A candlelight vigil was held honoring his life at the Newman Center Friday night.

Friends of Krueger weren’t the only ones shocked by the turn of events. Donald Hampton, a neighbor of Smith’s, was completely shock by the arrest and murder charges.

“…seemed like a polite young man to me,” says Hampton.

Smith and Diaz have both been charged with murder and robbery. Smith is also facing charges of tampering with evidence and fleeing and evading.
