Wrongful Death Man Expected to be Charged in Wife’s Murder in Dayton, OH

A Dayton man is being held unofficially on murder charges in connection with the death of his wife, whose decomposed body was found more than a month after she went missing last year.

Once Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck approves, Dominique C. Mays, 23, will be charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence in the death of his estranged wife Amber Owens, 23. Mays has been in the Montgomery County Jail since January after being arrested for probation violation for domestic violence involving Owens, and he was scheduled to be released Monday.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

However, he’s being held an additional 48 hours until Heck approves the charges. Heck’s office has asked investigators to gather more evidence before the charges are approved, spokesman Greg Flannagan said. He noted that detectives are scheduled to meet with prosecutors Tuesday morning.

At the time of her disappearance, Owens’ relatives said they suspected someone harmed her. She never reported to her job at Waffle House on Oct. 21. Three days later, her family filed a missing person’s report. Her twin sister Alicia Owens was the last person known to have seen her alive. Alicia said they went to a party on Genesee Avenue in Dayton and that’s the last time she saw her sibling.

On Nov. 4, Owens’ vehicle was found on Arlene Avenue in Dayton, and a month later on Dec. 4 her remains were found in Trotwood.

In an exclusive interview with WHIO in December, Mays admitted that the couple had a volatile relationship, including a history of domestic violence, but he did not harm her. They had three children and were not living together at the time of Owens’ death.

Private Detective: Possible Indictments Forthcoming in Pappy Van Wrinkle Theft

New information regarding the bourbon heist that made international headlines will be released next Tuesday, according to the Franklin County Sheriff.

The sheriff’s department has been hot on the trail of the stolen Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon and Sheriff Pat Melton now tells LEX 18 that the case is bigger than anyone ever expected. The story begins with the theft of the Pappy back in October of 2013 Then, Gilbert Toby Curtsinger was arrested last month after deputies found five stolen barrels of bourbon from the Wild Turkey Distillery in Curtsinger’s home. Deputies also found a big stash of steroids and guns at the residence.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Curtsinger was an employee of Buffalo Trace Distillery. That is the same distillery which produces Pappy Van Winkle. LEX 18 has learned that Franklin County deputies have also recovered bottles of Pappy Van Winkle linked to Curtsinger. Coincidence? LEX 18 has uncovered facts that point to an organized theft ring between employees at two different distilleries.

At least one employee of Wild Turkey is under investigation for allegedly working with Curtsinger to move the barrels out of Wild Turkey.

The Franklin County Sheriff will hold a news conference on Tuesday April 21 to discuss the case. The initial press conference was to be held on April 14 but developments in the case delayed that date a week.

LEX 18 has been told there will possibly be several indictments, including at least one employee who works at Wild Turkey.

Pedophile Tracking Richmond Man Sentenced to 144 Months For Child Porn

A Richmond man, who previously admitted to making images of child pornography available for download on the Internet, has been sentenced to 144 months in federal prison.

U.S. District Judge Joseph M. Hood sentenced 53-year-old Mark Douglas Taylor for distribution of child pornography and ordered him to be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for 10 years following his release. Under federal law, Taylor must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

According to Taylor’s plea agreement, an undercover investigator with the Office of the Kentucky Attorney General, downloaded several files from the Internet that she suspected contained child pornography. Law enforcement later identified Taylor’s computer as the source of the child pornography files. Then, in February 2014, law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence and located numerous images depicting prepubescent children engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his computer.

Kerry B. Harvey, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Jack Conway, Kentucky Attorney General; and Howard Marshall, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI, jointly made the announcement today.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Office of the Kentucky Attorney General. Assistant U.S. Attorney David A. Marye prosecuted this case on behalf of the federal government.
