Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating a Central Islip teenager who was reported missing last month.

The mother of Katy Zavala, reported her 15-year-old daughter missing on March 26. Zavala was last seen at her home, located at 371 Locust St. in Central Islip, on March 25 at 7 a.m.

Zavala, who is a student at Central Islip High School, is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, 125 pounds with blond, wavy hair and brown eyes.

LEX 18 has learned that a Knox County woman arrested for child abuse has had her day care business investigated a dozen times for multiple violations.

Former employees of a Knox County daycare say they were not surprised when the owner was arrested. Tracy Fore was arrested for child abuse charges. She is the owner of “Rainbows and Lollipops” daycare in Corbin. The latest investigation by the state is the twelfth since 2012.

Complaints ranged from floors described as “soiled and dingy”, to inadequate food, to children taking care of other children. More than 30 pages outlined the findings of the investigation into Fore’s business. State workers described ant infestations, a lack of food and even allege that a supervisor fell asleep while watching children.

“I would come in and there would be 5 and 6 year olds in the nursery holding the newborn babies. The 5 and 6 year olds would be cutting coupons for her,” a former employee told LEX 18 off camera.

Investigators also say that classrooms were kept at 51 degrees during the winter months.

Fore was arraigned in court Monday on allegations of abuse. She pleaded not guilty to the charges. Her next court appearance will be April 22.

Kentucky State Police in Elizabethtown is searching for the public’s assistance in locating two escapees from Dismas Charities in Louisville.

According to a release, Nicholas Salyer and Justin M. Fields walked away from the facility on April 9. Salyer is from Georgetown and Fields is from the Painstville area.

A Richmond man, who previously admitted to making images of child pornography available for download on the internet, has been sentenced to 144 months in federal prison.

U.S. District Judge Joseph M. Hood sentenced 53-year-old Mark Douglas Taylor for distribution of child pornography and ordered him to be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for 10 years following his release. Under federal law, Taylor must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.

According to Taylor’s plea agreement, an undercover investigator with the Office of the Kentucky Attorney General, downloaded several files from the internet that she suspected contained child pornography. Law enforcement later identified Taylor’s computer as the source of the child pornography files.

Then, in February 2014, law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence and located numerous images depicting prepubescent children engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his computer.

Harvey, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Jack Conway, Kentucky Attorney General; and Howard Marshall, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI, jointly made the announcement today. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Office of the Kentucky Attorney General. Assistant U.S. Attorney David A. Marye prosecuted this case on behalf of the federal government. –

Madison County deputies have arrested a man accused of abusing a child.

Deputies arrested John Wood, 23, on Saturday. According to the arrest citation, Wood “tortured and abused” a 7-year-old girl between November 2014 and January of this year.

Deputies charged Wood with criminal abuse of a child under 12. While criminal abuse covers a wide range of things, authorities tell LEX 18’s Maisie Insko that the focus of the investigation is cruel punishment. They had been searching for Wood since January

Officials did not release any further details about the abuse.

The St. Louis County Police Department is searching for a missing man last seen Thursday.

Quan Le, 50, was wearing a white sleeve t-shirt, black pants and black shoes. He left his place of employment at Vicky’s Nails, located at 12321 Old Halls Ferry Road at approximately 10 a.m. He was driving a 2007 Honda Accord with Illinois plates G893092.

None of Quang’s friends or family have seen or heard from him since that time. The family did not give any reason why he would go missing and do not know where else he would be. Anyone with information is asked to contact the St. Louis County Police.

Police have been looking for a Wayne County man accused of a disturbing crime against a child for almost a month. Now, the victim’s family speaks out about the man’s out-of-state arrest.

Officials say John Fawcett is accused of raping a child and then disappearing, until he was found and arrested in Florida.

“It is a big relief. We did tell the victim that he has been caught and she was happy,” a family member of the victim told LEX18 by phone.

The family of the victim asked LEX18 not to reveal their identity to protect the child’s privacy, but they say after learning of the recent arrest, the healing process has begun.

“Now she can rest. She was scared to death he was going to come back and get her so that’s a big relief on her,” said the family member.

Jaqueline Fawcett has already been indicted for allegedly helping John Fawcett abuse the child. That’s when the victim’s family took to social media to help find the other suspect.

“Praise the lord that he has been caught so he doesn’t hurt another child,” said the family member.

John Fawcett was picked up in Panama City on unrelated drug charges. Fawcett is currently at the Bay County Jail in Florida. No word yet on when he will be extradited to Kentucky.

A murder investigation is underway in Christian County after a gunshot victim died from his injuries.

Hopkinsville police say 23-year-old Damario Bennett was shot Monday evening outside of Campbell Place Apartments. He died Saturday.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for the alleged shooter, 23-year-old Anthony Leverne Brown. Brown is described as a black male, about 6’3″ and 190 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Investigators say when Brown is found, he will be charged with murder.

A Lexington pizza delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint Saturday night.

Officers say that around 10:00 p.m. a Papa John’s driver had just made a delivery on Laketower Drive when he was approached by two white men who pulled a gun on him and demanded cash. The driver handed over the cash he had and the robbers ran off.

Police describe one of the men as about six feet tall wearing jeans and black boots with a black sweatshirt. They say the other man was also six feet tall wearing a brown Carhartt jacket and a red knit cap.

Police tell LEX 18 they do not have any suspects at this time.

Kentucky State Police have made an arrest in the murder case of Francisco Martinez-Castillo.

Martinez-Castillo’s body was found in a creek off Lake Wilgreen in Madison County on Wednesday night. Troopers tell LEX 18 that early Saturday morning they arrested Billy Chadwell, 35, of Richmond and charged him with murder.
