Private Detective: Meade County Police Warn of Fake Road Blocks

Police in Meade County have a warning after a strange robbery there. Officers have dealt with at least two incidents where they say fake road blocks were put up to get drivers to stop.

Police in Brandenburg say a person got out of their car to move a barricade in the road, then 3 or 4 people walked out to him. That person was lucky, he had a gun and the would-be robbers ran away.

A few nights later, a woman reported some out of place construction cones on a road where there was no construction.

Police are asking people to extra cautious when they see something in the road.  If something is blocking your path, don’t get out, turn around and call 911.

No arrests have been made in those two cases.

Private Detective: Western KY Man Stole Jewelry From Corpse

Police in Western Kentucky say a man stole jewelry from the body of a dead woman.

Officials say on Friday at the James Daviess Funeral Home in Owensboro that a man was behaving oddly and was asked to leave. Shortly afterward a mourner called police to report his phone was stolen from his car. That’s when Darren Simpson’s name came up.  Officers questioned the 22-year-old at a motel. Authorities found a diamond earring and Simpson then admitted stealing the phone. An iPod was also found and another earring was stuffed into the seat of the police cruiser.

Wrongful Death Body of Man Found Buried Behind Home in Throwbridge Township, Mich.

Authorities in Allegan County have arrested a 25-year-old suspect after a man was found dead on a property in the 1100 block of 26th Street.

Investigators say they received a phone call from the apparent victim’s mother who went to check on the victim’s well being at the home around 1:30 Friday afternoon.

Authorities say she arrived to the mobile home on the property off 26th Street near M-89 to find furniture overturned, blood, and broken glasses normally worn by the victim, but her son was not there.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“She found a significant amount of blood and the fact some of the furniture had been disturbed, and the glasses of the individual that generally wears them every waking minute, not being around, obviously that showed signs of a struggle,” said Capt. Mike Larsen, with the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities later arrived to begin looking for the 37-year-old son and found a 25-year-old relative of the victim who was apparently sleeping in a home also on the same property.

That 25-year-old was taken into custody on preliminary charges of open murder after authorities located the 37-year-old victim in what was described as a recent ‘dig site’ toward the back of the property.

Neighbors living nearby are telling FOX17 the victim and the suspect involved are believed to be brothers.

“I’m surprised, he’s a really nice guy, he wouldn’t harm nobody,” said Robert Mosely who lives nearby.

“He likes to talk a lot, seemed to get along with everybody really good… I don’t see why anyone would want to hurt him.”

Police said they will not release the suspect’s name until he is arraigned in court, which will likely be Monday.

Authorities are not revealing how the victim was killed, or the motive involved.

“He (suspect) gave statements that were consistent with evidence found at the scene,” Larsen said.

Neighbors told FOX 17 cops had been called to the home a few times in recent months but police on scene wouldn’t confirm the number of times, only saying  there had been “recent police contact.”

The suspect is currently lodged at the Allegan County Jail.

Pedophile Tracking Woman Gets 30 Years for Prostituting Child For Drugs

A woman who got free methamphetamine in exchange for providing a drug dealer with a 12-year-old girl whom he repeatedly sexually assaulted was sentenced Thursday to 30 years in prison.

On Wednesday, a jury convicted Leticia, 33, of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.

She elected to have state District Judge Scott Wisch assess her sentence, which he did on Thursday. She is not eligible for parole, according to the 2007 statute under which she was sentenced. She will get credit for two years served in jail before her trial, a Tarrant County prosecutor said.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The Star-Telegram is using only the defendant’s first name to avoid identifying the girl because the newspaper generally does not identify sexual assault victims.

Leticia shook and cried in her chair after her sentence was read. The girl, now 14, looked down at the floor and wept, too.

Thomas Crick, the drug dealer who sexually assaulted the girl, was sentenced in September to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking of a child/engaging in sexual conduct. Crick, 31, of Fort Worth, is eligible for parole but will have to serve half his sentence first, according to prosecutors.

“The disparity is shocking,” said Wes Ball, Leticia’s attorney. “Crick can walk out of prison in 15 years. He was on parole and on a monitor when he committed this offense. Leticia will have to spend 10 more years in prison than Crick at best. That’s what the [Texas] Legislature has done with this law.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever had a sadder case than this one.”

Crick, who told the girl and her family that he was a member of the Aryan Brotherhood, had sex with the girl for almost four months beginning in September 2012. Crick sent the girl home with free meth for Leticia in exchange for her blindness to what was happening to the girl, prosecutors said.

In passing sentence, Wisch said that Crick accepted a plea bargain that so the girl would not have to testify and indicated that he accepted some responsibility. Leticia, however, elected to go to trial, forcing the girl to walk into a crowded courtroom and divulge the sordid story to strangers, Wisch said.

Electing to go to trial was well within Leticia’s rights, he said, and it was well within the court’s purview to weigh that factor when calculating a sentence.

“Using the word sad to describe your client’s life is a gross understatement,” Wisch said to Ball. “Your client is repugnant far past the standards that the public is willing to accept. The court is aware of the law, which means there are 28 years to go.”

Leticia bears the greater moral responsibility for what happened to the girl she handed over to a convicted felon, drug dealer and practicing gang member, said prosecutor Eric Nickols. And it is “highly unlikely,” given the facts of the case, that Crick will be released after his first or even after several subsequent parole hearings, Nickols said.

“There has been a lot of talk about Thomas Crick and the terrible things he did,” Nickols said. “But if not for Leticia’s conduct, none of us would have had to be here.”
