Pedophile Tracking Chester, SC Man Sentenced to 30 Years

A convicted sex offender who eluded police for more than a week last year was sentenced to 30 years in prison Wednesday. A jury found him guilty of sexual assault after a 12-year-old girl in Chester reported she had been attacked.

John Lowery, 43, testified during the trial that he was under the influence of cocaine, crack cocaine, pills and alcohol on Nov. 3, 2013, but claimed he did not attack the child.

However, investigator Tammy Levister and other detectives with the Chester Police Department found DNA evidence on the child’s clothing that clearly linked Lowery to the crime, said Julie Hall, the 6th Circuit assistant solicitor who prosecuted the case during the three-day trial.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Lowery has past convictions for burglary and attacking a girl in Virginia and was on South Carolina’s sex offender registry at the time of the crime.

The jury needed just 25 minutes to return a guilty verdict, and Judge Knox McMahon sentenced Lowery to the maximum of 30 years in prison.

“We are very relieved that this man is off the street and was convicted,” Hall said after the trial. “He has shown a pattern of this kind of behavior, and the evidence showed that he committed this crime against this child. He showed no remorse.”

After the assault on Nov. 3, 2013, the girl and her family immediately reported the attack to police and Lowery was charged three days later.

Police searched for Lowery for more than a week throughout Chester but didn’t find him until days later, hiding in his mother’s attic.

He had been in jail without bond since his arrest.

Drug Dog Sweep Potter County, CA Deputies Found 25 Lbs of Meth

Federal authorities have filed drug trafficking charges against a California man arrested Sunday after Potter County deputies found 25 pounds of methamphetamine in a rental car he was driving.

About 4 p.m. Sunday, a Potter County deputy stopped a vehicle on a traffic offense on Interstate 40 west of Amarillo. During the traffic stop, deputies identified signs of criminal activity when they talked to the driver, Gerardo Ramirez, 26, of Bellflower, Calif.

According to a DEA agent’s affidavit, the car, a 2014 Nissan Ultima, smelled strongly of air freshener and Ramirez appeared to be nervous. Ramirez also could only identify the person who rented the vehicle by their first name.

http://liarcatchers.com/drugdogsweeps.html

The deputy asked him for consent to search the Nissan, but Ramirez refused. A drug dog was called to the location, according to information from the sheriff’s office. The dog alerted to a “narcotic odor” wafting from the vehicle, which was searched. During the search, deputies found 25.2 pounds of methamphetamine in the spare tire compartment. The methamphetamine was packaged in 20 bundles and had an estimated street value of $903,168, authorities said.

A passenger in the vehicle — Karla Molinar, 19, of Phoenix — told deputies she was in the U.S. illegally. Both Ramirez and Molinar were arrested. They were booked into Potter County jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Ramirez later was charged with possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine in Amarillo’s U.S. District Court, a charge that carries a prison term of more than 10 years. Molinar has not been charged in the federal court case.

Wrongful Death Man Killed Macon, GA Woman As Toddler Slept Nearby

A Macon man admitted to fatally stabbing his girlfriend in the chest as her 3-year-old son slept nearby in a motel room, according to an arrest warrant.

Ali Lamont Tanner, 39, told investigators he wrapped the body of Shauntrice Michele Williams in a bedspread Saturday and threw her in the Dumpster outside the Discovery Inn on Chambers Road, the warrant stated.

He said he tossed the knife in a patch of woods behind the motel.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Authorities found Williams’ body at the Taylor County landfill about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said Williams’ family has been notified of the discovery, and an autopsy was planned for Thursday morning.

Family and friends of the 27-year-old woman hit the streets Wednesday morning looking for any sign of her.

They searched abandoned and boarded-up houses along Interstate 75 between Napier and Montpelier avenues.

“We want closure,” said Chiquita Johnson, a friend of the Williams family.

Williams’ sister, Shauntorial Bell, 26, said she had tried unsuccessfully to reach Williams “through various types of social media,” according to a missing person report filed Monday.

The report noted that Bell’s mother said Tanner threatened the victim on Thanksgiving, stating he was going to kill Williams because he believed she was cheating on him.

Tanner, who went to the Bibb County Sheriff’s office Tuesday and was arrested Wednesday, faces murder and aggravated assault charges, as well as a probation violation. No bond was set when he went before Magistrate Judge Jane Reeves.

He had been in state prison until February, but no records were available because probation cases are confidential, a Georgia Department of Corrections spokeswoman said. Tanner has been in and out of prison multiple times since 2004, she said.

The Telegraph archives show Tanner was indicted for first-degree arson and burglary after a Plant Street apartment fire in January of 2002.

He is now being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Although the Bibb sheriff’s office did not release information about Williams’ death until Wednesday morning, the word began to spread on Facebook by Tuesday evening.

The last post believed to have been made by Shauntrice “Msindependent” Williams, mentions getting to bed early Thanksgiving night due to pending surgery in the morning.

Her post from Thursday morning stated she was thankful for “my wonderful kids, health, n life.”

Anyone with information is urged to call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.

Private Detective: Teen Killed Self After Shooting At Officer

Florence police say a teen who shot at an officer multiple times at a motel Tuesday afternoon ran from the scene and then killed himself.

Police said in a report released on Wednesday that the unidentified 16-year-old who shot at Lt. Roger Allen at the Super 8 motel after an investigation, shot himself in the head after fleeing through the halls of the hotel.

Police said the officer was initially dispatched to the hotel after an anonymous complaint of small children screaming in a room unattended.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

When Lt. Roger Allen, a 13-year veteran, arrived, he could hear children crying in the room and smelled marijuana, the recently released report said.

Inside, the officer found two 16-year-old boys, an 18-year-old man and three small children from five months to three years old. When he requested identification from the young men in the room, one of the 16-year-olds showed a handgun and began firing at Lt. Allen, who was then able to take cover in the bathroom and close the door behind him, police said.

The teen continued firing through the closed door, police said, and Lt. Allen returned fire.

The other two males fled the room, leaving the children behind, according to police.

Ultimately, the shooter fled the room and was seen by multiple witnesses carrying belongings in the first floor hallway, police said.

According to witnesses, the shooter pulled a weapon from his bag and shot himself once in the head.

The teen was found dead in the first floor hallway, while Lt. Allen was found in the bathroom of the second floor motel room, the report said.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday morning, and preliminary results of that exam are still pending. The teen has not been identified but police said he is from Covington.

Lt. Allen suffered a minor wound to the top of his head, which was either caused by a shot fired by the suspect or while seeking cover in the bathroom, police said.

In total, three weapons were recovered from the decedent and/or his room.

Florence Police Department, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and their SWAT teams helped clear and evacuate the building.

The Florence Police Department said it will be conducting the administrative investigation, while the Boone County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting the criminal investigation.
