Private Detective, 38 Wild Horses Believed to Have Been Shot Dead

For decades, wild horses have been known to roam the part of Straight Creek in Harlan County known as Dingo. On Friday, though, that same area was noticeably quiet.

Marcella Chadwick, the president of the Harlan County Humane Society told LEX 18 that at least 38 of the horses seemingly vanished over the last four days. Chadwick said folks in the area reported seeing the animals gunned down.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“People come visit these horses,” Chadwick told LEX 18. “They bring apples. They bring treats. And they said, you know we were over there and did you know there’s several horses laying over there dead and they’ve been shot?”

Heading up the investigation, State Police confirm at least one of the horses was found dead. The others, they said, are still unaccounted for, as of Friday night.

However, a foul smell in the air, along with some other factors, have led Chadwick to believe those nearly 40 horses were shot and killed.

“I don’t know how else they would die. 38 horses can’t just fall over dead,” Chadwick said.

While crews Friday searched an estimated 5,000 acres looking for any sign of the missing horses, they said they will likely pick up that search of the remaining 5,000 acres on Saturday.

The Humane Society, with help from the community, is offering a $4,100 reward for information in the case that leads to an arrest and conviction. That reward continues to grow.

Missing Person Two Teens Missing in Maryland

A missing person mystery is unfolding in northeast Maryland. Two teens disappeared during the same 24-hour period in Cecil County, but police are worried that the cases might be related.

Jesse Veasey, Jr., 16, and Ricardo Levenberry, 19, both went missing from the same neighborhood in Elkton, Maryland. Veasey was last seen on Monday afternoon, Levenberry was last seen on Tuesday morning.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Hollingsworth Manor is a small neighborhood where everyone seems to know each other.  Dozens of came out to watch police as they scoured the woods and a nearby homeless camp, but still no sign of the two missing teens.

Friends say Levenberry was supposed to meet the mother of his 3-month-old baby at a park on Tuesday morning. When she arrived, she saw his bike, but there was no sign of him and his phone had been turned off. Some boys standing nearby told her Levenberry got into a dark-colored car with two people inside it.

Veasey was seen getting into a vehicle fitting the same description just a few blocks away on Monday night.

There’s no evidence of foul play, but police say the cases are suspicious.

Anyone with information in these cases is asked to contact Elkton Police at 410-398-4200.

Pedophile Tracking Alabama Teacher’s Aide Convicted

Jurors in Huntsville have convicted a former teacher’s aide of sexually abusing a child.

A Madison County jury returned the verdict Friday against Michael Horton, who had worked in Huntsville’s school system.

The 37-year-old Horton was convicted of sodomy. He was arrested in 2009 for alleged actions that occurred in 2008.

Horton’s defense claimed the child’s family made up the claims. The man was caring for and mentoring the youth.

Jurors deliberated for almost two days. They convicted the man shortly after telling the judge they could reach a verdict.

Drug Dog Sweep In Paterson, NJ Finds Heroin Stash Under House’s Vinyl Siding

A police drug-sniffing dog named Fako nosed his way to a heroin stash worth more than $6,000 concealed beneath the vinyl siding of a 4th Ward house on Friday afternoon, according to Capt. Troy Oswald.

Fako’s work also helped police find a loaded .22 caliber revolver and 10 bullets, which were hidden along with the drugs, Oswald said.
Authorities have not yet determined to whom the drugs belonged.

http://liarcatchers.com/drugdogsweeps.html

“I’m sure it was somebody’s in the area, but no one is going to claim it,” Oswald said.

Fako and his handler, Officer Rafael Campos, had just finished helping narcotics detectives on another search on Hamilton – one that uncovered a smaller amount of heroin – when Campos noticed patrol cars parked outside the multi-family house at 200-204 Governor Street, Oswald said. The officers were checking on some suspicious people in the area, the captain said.

So Campos stopped and took the drug-sniffing dog for a stroll, Oswald said. Fako alerted his handler to something on the side on the house, the captain said. Behind the siding, police found 626 glassine packets of heroin, with the gun and bullets, he said.

At this point, police say they do not suspect the occupants of the house in connection with the drugs. They believe someone else was stashing the drugs behind the siding, Oswald said.

Pedophile Tracking Falls Church, VA Man Indicted

A Falls Church, Virginia, man was indicted Tuesday for his involvement in the sex trafficking of a young girl.

Alan Cooley, 34, was a pimp known as “Midas,” police said. Police said he forced a girl, who had run away from her North Carolina home, into prostitution. He faces charges of sex trafficking a child and transporting a minor across state lines for prostitution.

Officers said they found the girl in a Dumfries, Virginia, hotel room March 26, after the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s office received a tip about the girl’s situation and alerted the FBI.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Police said the girl told them she had been recruited into prostitution by a pimp in Charlotte, North Carolina. She told police that Cooley took her to Fredericksburg, Virginia, two weeks later.

Police said Cooley intimidated and physically assaulted the girl when she refused to engage in sex acts with customers.

When police first investigated the hotel room, police said Cooley violently prevented the girl from opening the door and threatened to kill her if she spoke to police.

Cooley faces a maximum of life in prison if convicted.

Identity Theft NC Woman Used Stolen Identity To Finance Cars

State Division of Motor Vehicles investigators arrested a woman at her home outside Raleigh and charged her with using stolen identity information to get a North Carolina ID card and to register and finance cars in a scheme that they said began in mid-2011.

Gerarda Latorre Rodriguez, 47, was arrested at 4924 Reconciliation Drive at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, records showed.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

She was charged with three counts of altering or forging a title certificate or registration, giving a false name to get the ID card and identity theft.

Rodriguez had the birth certificate and Social Security card of a woman from Puerto Rico and used that to get the ID card and to finance a total of $19,408.70 for three cars.

The charges of altering or forging car paperwork involved a 2000 Nissan bought and registered in January 2012, a 1998 Nissan bought and registered in March 2012 and a 2005 Toyota bought and registered in June of this year.

In the arrest warrants, agents said they believe crimes were committed between July 2011 and earlier this month.

Rodriguez was held in lieu of $50,000 and scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Private Detective, Man Charged in Drug Trafficking Gets Probabtion

A Frankfort man accused of having a list of officers’ names and unit numbers along with drugs inside his home was sentenced to five years’ probation.

When police raided Patrick Dillon Stipes’ home on Woodland Avenue in April, they say they found a list of names and unit numbers of Frankfort police officers, five loaded guns, close to three pounds of marijuana and residue of other drugs.

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton said Stipes told them that a deputy clerk gave him the list of officers’ names and information.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Frankfort police said they went to Stipes’s home after a suspect’s tip in another drug case. There, they also found a handgun tucked under Stipes’ shirt. He is only 20-years-old and is not old enough to legally carry a gun with a concealed carry permit.

Stipes faced several charges including possession of a controlled substance and carrying a concealed weapon. He pleaded guilty to the drug charges and, in an affidavit, named the source who disclosed the officers’ information to be William McGaughey.

McGaughey is a deputy clerk in the Franklin County Circuit Clerk’s Office and lives across the street from Stipes.

Authorities said a search of McGaughey’s Frankfort home uncovered several items including a baggie with suspected cocaine residue, marijuana and marijuana scales.

As of July 2014, McGaughey continued to work at the circuit clerk’s office and had not been charged in the investigation

Drug Dog Sweep $780K of Meth Found in San Diego

Two men were arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents on Interstate 5 Thursday morning when drug-sniffing dogs alerted agents to methamphetamine concealed inside their car.

The 33-year-old Mexican man driving a 2008 Chrysler Sebring with his 22-year-old passenger were referred to a secondary inspection at the San Clemente checkpoint at 2 a.m., U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said.

Drug-sniffing dogs alerted agents to the car where authorities found 19 vacuum-sealed packages with meth inside the gas tank and 20 more packages inside the vehicle’s rocker panels, according to CBP.

http://liarcatchers.com/drugdogsweeps.html

The driver had a valid Visa, but did not have an I-94 permit, which would allow him to travel a distance greater than 25 miles from the U.S./Mexico border, agents said.

CBP officials said the meth weighed 78 pounds and has an estimate value of $780,000.

The two men were taken into custody of the Drug Enforcement Administration and face charges of immigration violation and possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute.
