Wrongful Death Spokane, WA Man Convicted in Death of Ex-Girlfriend

A Spokane man likely will spend the rest of his life behind bars after a jury convicted him of murder in the stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend, whose body was found buried in a makeshift grave in Elk last year.

Jason D. Flett, 28, was found guilty of first-degree murder Friday following a weeklong trial. Investigators implicated Flett in the death of Ramona Childress, a woman he had been dating, after a witness told police that he helped Flett bury a woman’s body near his property in September 2012.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Childress’ family reported her missing in October 2012 after she failed to pick up her two children, according to a missing person’s report.

The man who helped bury the 27-year-old Childress told police Flett admitted to fatally stabbing her to keep her from telling police about a string of burglaries he was involved in, according to court documents.

Flett served seven years in prison after pleading guilty to assault in the stabbing of a man at a home near NorthTown Mall in 2005.

Childress’ body was discovered on the Elk property last November after the witness told police about the burial. The witness described Flett as a family friend.

The jury also found Flett guilty of two deadly weapon enhancements, determining he was armed with a knife and a shovel at the time of the crimes. The witness told police that Flett struck Childress in the head twice with a shovel before the pair buried her remains, according to court documents.

A woman who was present at the burial and who has a child with Flett has not been charged in the homicide, according to court filings. Flett allegedly threatened the woman as well as the man who eventually told police about the crime that he would kill them if they spoke of the burial.

Flett is scheduled to stand trial again later this month, facing allegations he struck the mother of his child with a crowbar shortly before his arrest in November.

Flett is scheduled to be sentenced in September. The jury returned a special verdict indicating Flett’s crime was committed with “deliberate cruelty to the victim,” all but assuring a life sentence in the case.

Wrongful Death New Details in Martin Co. Triple Murder

New details have emerged after a second arrest is made in connection to a fatal fire in Martin County. Three people died including an 8-year-old girl.

Tim Goble lost his 8-year-old daughter, Trinity, his mother, Tina, and his step-father, Junior.

“As the details have come out it’s definitely made it a lot harder. It’s made it a much more tougher process,” says Goble.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

According to an arrest warrant, 26-year-old Amanda Bowen is facing murder charges along with robbery and tampering with physical evidence in connection to the fire, the same charges as Jack Smith.

The warrant also states Bowen allegedly worked with Smith to kill all three by shooting them with a gun and stabbing them with a knife after robbing Tina of medication and jewelry.

“I’m trying to be as strong as possible,” says Goble.

As arson investigators continue to come out to the scene to find out exactly what happened, Goble tells LEX 18 that he’s going to withhold anger and focus on the good by holding on to the last moments he had with Trinity.

“I know that she would want her dad to smile she would want her dad to try to be happy,” says Goble.

Wrongful Death Madison Co. Teen Pleads Guilty to Killing Baby Sister

A Madison County teen admitted in court to killing her baby sister while watching her last year.

She says she was frustrated with the infant at the time of the death.

The hearing Wednesday was less than 10 minutes. Marcum stood before the court with her head down and her voice low. The judge asked Marcum to describe in her own words what happened to Bella Rose on June 7, 2013.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“I was laying Bella down for a nap and I got frustrated and put my hand on her head,” said Marcum.

Marcum says she pressed her sister’s head into the mattress until she stopped crying, but never meant to kill her.

“I just got frustrated because she wouldn’t go to sleep,” said Marcum.

Marcum was only a child herself, 17-years-old and about to finish her G.E.D. She changed her plea from not guilty of murder to guilty of manslaughter. She admits to killing baby Bella Rose, even though she says it was an accident.

Pedophile Tracking Accused Twins Face Additional Charges

Elderly twins arrested on child porn charges appeared in court Wednesday morning and will apparently face additional charges.

Jerry and Jack Cassidy, 76, waived their preliminary hearing to the grand jury.

The brothers will be arraigned at 1 p.m. Wednesday on additional charges. It remains unclear what those charges are. The Cassidys’ attorney said he did not want to comment on the new charges, as he just found out about them late Tuesday night.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Police say they found hundreds of images of naked boys when they searched the Cassidys’ home.

Several people have come forward claiming they were victims of the brothers when they were serving as Boy Scout leaders.

One man, who came forward under the condition of anonymity, said Jack and Jerry Cassidy molested him during a sleep-over at their home in 1977 when he was 12-years-old.

“They made you take your clothes off, tied me to a chair and played with me,” he said.

Another man said he spent time in the same house when he was a young Boy Scout.
