Missing Person Maine Woman Still Missing in CA

A mother is still looking for answers five months after her daughters disappearance in California. 23-year-old Danielle Bertolini was reported missing February 19th in Fortuna, California. Her mother, Billy-Joe Dick, believes her daughter is no longer alive – but refuses to give up the search.

Danielle Bertolini, from Plymouth, moved to California after losing her unborn son in 2010. Unable to cope with the loss, she sought a distraction in a change of scenery. But instead of bringing peace, the move brought more grief than anyone thought possible.

According to Danielle’s mother, the missing girl never stayed in one place while in California, but she called to check in with her mother and younger sister almost every day. When neither of them heard from Danielle after January 29th and could not reach her, they reported her missing. That was on February 19th. After finding all of her belongings left abandoned, Danielle’s mother believes her daughter is dead. Dick continues to search for her daughter’s remains, but so far has not found any evidence of where Danielle might be.

“We’ve checked on every lead. We’ve went everywhere. I’ve looked in so many wells, so many abandoned houses, places that have burnt. And to have my daughter not be in any of them and not know where she is is killing me,” said Billie-Joe Dick.

On Saturday, a vigil was held for Danielle Bertolini in Bangor’s Cascade Park. Dick says she appreciates everyone who has helped her search for Danielle and encourages anyone with information to come forward.

Private Detective, Crime Stoppers Search Suspects Who Took Bag of Diamonds

Everyone has at one point been in a hurry and either forgotten something or misplaced it.

Unfortunately, for one Lexington woman her mistake cost a Lexington jeweler, who’s already had a rough year, nearly $30,000.

They’re turning to Crime Stoppers to try to re-coup some of the loss.

Terry DeLuca borrowed diamonds for an out of town wedding, compliments of her friend jeweler Shelia Bayes.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“I went down and found the most beautiful diamond earrings and while I was down there she said how about these bracelets, how about this ring,” DeLuca said.

It happened to be raining when DeLuca was leaving the store May 16 with the jewelry.

While carrying the jewelry, a gown and magazines she fumbled to open an umbrella.

It wasn’t until she got to her car that the bag wasn’t there.

Surveillance video showed several people walking by the bag when two people pick it up and take off.

“They don’t think twice,” Lexington Police Department Det. Jason Rothermund said. “There’s obviously no conscious kicking in and they take off down High Street.”

DeLuca said she’s looked over the photos on her phone a million times and prays for Sheila’s sake that the borrowed diamonds turn up somewhere.

“We all make mistakes,” Det. Rothermund said. “Somebody capitalized on this mistake when you would hope they would do the right thing.”

You may recall back in March, thieves smashed their way into a Rolex display at Shelia Bayes and stolen $150,000 in luxury watches.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest in both cases.

You can call the Crime Stoppers tipline at (859) 253-2020.

The woman who was on the phone with her husband as he was murdered at a Kentucky rest stop is sharing her story.

Kentucky State Police say Jamie Plymel was parked at a rest stop in Simpson County Tuesday talking to his wife Stacy on the phone when he was shot. Police say 39 -year-old James Roames asked Plymel to turn off his headlights, but Plymel told him he couldn’t because they were automatic.

Plymel’s wife says all she could do was listen to what happened next.

“‘Baby, I’ve been shot. I’ve been shot.’ I could hear the shock in his voice. I didn’t have the chance to tell him one more time that ‘I love you’ or him to have the chance to tell me that. But we knew,” she said.

Police say Roames shot and killed himself. The motive for the shooting is still not clear.

Fraud Investigation Louisville Daycare Owner Charged in Seeking Child Care Payments

David J. Hale, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, announced today the indictment of a Louisville daycare owner on charges of wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, and money laundering.

Lottie Carisa Burgos, the owner and operator of ABC Village Daycare, was charged in a 20-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury on July 16, 2014. Burgos made an initial appearance in federal court today following her arrest.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

Burgos operated ABC Village Daycare at two locations, 1801 West Market Street, Louisville, Kentucky, and 2823 7th Street Road, Louisville, Kentucky. According to the indictment, Burgos or others acting at her direction falsified a wide range of information which was a condition of payment for child care services from Kentucky’s Department for Community Based Services. The Department for Community Based Services provides child care benefits to low-income working parents and guardians. Burgos or others acting at her direction are alleged to have falsified the following information: high school diplomas, negative tuberculosis tests and CPR certificates of ABC Village Daycare employees; the employment status of parents; the number of children who attended the daycare centers; and the number of days children attended the daycare centers. In 12 separate counts, the indictment charges Burgos committed wire fraud on occasions ranging from March 2011 through March 2013. The fraud charges detailed in the indictment are associated with payments from the Department for Community Based Services totaling $275,576. At Burgos’ initial appearance today before Magistrate Judge James Moyer, Assistant U.S. Attorney David Weiser stated that the total loss was approximately 1.4 million dollars.

The indictment includes two charges that Burgos twice committed aggravated identity theft: in August 2011 she used without authority the name of another, unidentified person on a fraudulent CPR certificate to prove that person was CPR-certified; and in January 2012 she used without authority the name of another, unidentified person to bill for child care services that were not actually rendered.

The indictment also charges Burgos with six counts of money laundering, alleging that she engaged in various financial transactions with money derived from her wire-fraud scheme on six different occasions ranging from September 2011 through May 2012.

If convicted of all counts, Burgos faces a mandatory minimum sentence of two years in prison, a maximum sentence of 304 years in prison, a maximum fine of $5,000,000, and up to three years of supervised release. The Court may also order that the defendant make restitution to the victim agency.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Weiser and was investigated by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
