Missing Person Marion County Woman Remembered Four Years After Disappearance

Thursday marked four years since a Marion County woman went missing. There are still few answers as to why Kara Tingle disappeared, still her family has never lost hope.

On Thursday loved ones gathered at the Gravel Switch Baptist Church in her memory.

Their hands were held in hope, as balloons flew high to the sky. They are a family linked together with love for Kara.

“Hoping that she can write back on the balloon and send it back, tell us where she is at,” said Kara’s son, Austin. It’s a wish he won’t ever stop making. Austin was only seven, and his sister a newborn, when their Mother mysteriously disappeared on this day four years ago.

“She loved her family deeply and she would not ever want us to give up,” said Kara’s Mother, Sheila Tingle. She and her husband never stopped looking for their daughter, and when he died two months ago, finding Kara was his final wish.

“It’s just like if someone come in and stole your heart, and you’re not going to stop looking for your heart are you?” said Sheila.

With heavy hearts and determination, family gathered at Kara’s favorite place in her favorite color, over her Father’s grave. “We are saying we love you, we miss you. And please come home and help us find the answers that we need,” said Sheila.

They are answers that family feels are out there. At the time Kara vanished she was on the “outs” with her estranged husband, Bobby Rigdon, who is in jail for the murder of a Casey County man. No one has been charged with her disappearance, however this family has faith someone will speak up, someday.

“You know we just pray to God every night that that’s what happens,” said Sheila. Prayers that this is the last anniversary where they walk away waiting.

“I hope she can come home,” said Austin.

There is a $12,500 reward for anyone who can give information that leads to finding Kara.

Wrongful Death Body Found in Wyoming, MI ID’d, Pregnant Girlfriend Missing

Wyoming police have identified the man whose body was found Wednesday, and say the woman who was last seen with him Saturday is being considered a missing person.

Charles Gerard Oppenneer’s body was found by Wyoming police officers around noon Wednesday near Gezon Parkway.

His girlfriend Brooke Ann Slocum, 18, was last seen with the 25-year-old at a Grand Rapids house on Saturday evening, according to Wyoming police. Family said Slocum is eight months pregnant with Oppenneer’s child.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“Obviously, we’re very concerned because she was last seen with Charles,” Wyoming police Capt. Kim Koster said. “Therefore we want to talk to her. We want to determine her location and whether or not she is safe.”

Slocum’s father Greg Slocum said his daughter was living with her boyfriend. He said no one has heard from her since about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

He said if his daughter was planning to go away, she would not have left behind her dog or laptop — both of which he said were found at her apartment.

“I just know I need to find my daughter. She’s eight and a half months pregnant and that’s my firstborn girl, and my firstborn grandchild with her, granddaughter,” Greg Slocum said. “And I really need her to be home.”

Slocum said his daughter has never gone missing before.

“This just can’t be happening. This is what you see on the news all the time and you never think it is going to be you,” he said.

Slocum is described as being 5-foot-3 and 110 pounds, and has teal blue hair and green eyes. An earlier release said Slocum’s hair was brown. Anyone with information about her whereabouts should call police at 616.530.730 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.

Oppenneer’s body was found in a wooded area near Gezon Court after the officers checked on an abandoned vehicle in the area. Details regarding how long his body had been in there and how he died were not released.

Thursday, a Michigan State Police helicopter flew a pattern over the area where Oppenneer’s body was found.

“We have been searching the scene for clues of any evidence regarding this homicide,” Koster said.

Wednesday, police said they were looking for a couple in a white SUV who said something to an officer at a gas station near Gezon Park over the weekend. Thursday, police said they found that couple and that speaking to them helped establish a timeline.

Police declined to discuss what Oppenneer’s Thursday autopsy revealed. They directed focus toward finding Slocum.

“I’m not going to go into case facts, but I do want to reach out to the public to ask them for help in this, in locating Brooke,” Koster said. “We’re just really concerned that Brooke hasn’t been seen since Charles went missing. Now that we have located him, we’re very concerned about her safety. And if anyone has information that could tell us where she is at or what happened, we’d appreciate a call to Silent Observer or the Wyoming Police Department.”

Slocum’s family members gathered at their Saranac home Thursday before heading to Wyoming to form a search party and pass out flyers, hoping that someone may know where she is.

Gezon Park was closed Thursday and events there scheduled for this weekend were cancelled. Wyoming police said they did not have plans to search the area again, but were leaving the possibility open.

Fraud Investigation Man Accused of Scamming People Outside UK Hospital Arrested

UK police have arrested a man accused of scamming people outside UK Hospital.

The University of Kentucky Police Department chief says officers picked up Gary Goodman, 36, at the hospital just hours after LEX 18 featured him in a story Wednesday evening. Dozens of people called the newsroom and posted messages on Facebook saying Goodman duped them out of cash with a similar sob story.

“He seemed like he was in real distress. He told us that…he was talking on his cell phone and said that his mother had passed away after having a heart cath,” Angela Abshear said. “We gave him money because he was saying he didn’t have any money to go home on or anything, and we did feel sorry for him, because it did seem like he was genuine.”

People have also reported Goodman at hospitals in Madison, Clark, Rockcastle and Montgomery counties.

Police charged Goodman with criminal trespassing.

According to the arrest report, officers warned Goodman to stay away from UK Hospital after he was caught panhandling in 2013.

Police are looking for a missing 9-year-old boy who was last seen Tuesday morning at 1080 Oakdale Drive in Smyrna.

Officials said the boy, Braiden Stow, may be in the company of his father, Ryan Stow. Smryna Police Officer C.D. Graeff said in a release Tuesday evening that Ryan Stow may be suicidal.

Investigators said Stow, who ordinarily has custody of Braiden on weekends, had planned to take the boy on a camping trip. The boy’s grandparents — with whom Braiden lives — said they had found a note written by Ryan Stow that specifically mentioned “suicide by cop.” Police said they are very concerned about the safety of both Braiden and his father. They want to ensure Braiden is safe, and to get the help that Ryan needs.

Wrongful Death Body Found in Wooded Area of Wyoming, MI

Wyoming police discovered the body of a male homicide victim Wednesday while investigating a car that had been left near a wooded area in Gezon Park for days.

Police have identified the victim but are only describing him as a man. His body was found north of Gezon Court SW about noon July 16.

Officers were checking the area while investigating an abandoned vehicle that had been near the south edge of the woods since Sunday, July 13, police Capt. Kim Koster said.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

She declined to comment on the cause of death. An autopsy will be performed Thursday.

Police have not disclosed how vehicle is connected to the homicide. Investigators Wednesday night were searching the car for evidence and police were also going through the wooded area.

Koster would not disclose if detectives believed the victim was killed at the park or if the body was dumped there.

The city park has baseball and softball fields and the wooded area has trails that lead to a large field. A resident at a nearby apartment complex said children and adults often use the trails.

Koster said police hope to again speak with a male and female traveling in a white SUV who talked to an officer at a gas station at Byron Center Avenue and Gezon Drive SW on Sunday morning.

Police believe the two may have information that could help the homicide investigation.

“At this point they’re not persons of interest or anything like that in the case, but we believe that they may have some information that might be helpful,” Koster said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Wyoming police at 616-530-7300 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.

Wrongful Death Two Dead After Shooting At KY Rest Stop

A Tennessee man was shot and killed at the Kentucky Welcome Center while his wife listened over the phone.

The Kentucky State Police said 39-year-old James Roames, of Hendersonville, TN, shot and killed 40-year-old Jamie Plymel of Spring Hill, TN.

Authorities said Roames was sitting at a picnic table in front of the welcome center when Plymel pulled in.

Plymel, who was traveling for business, was on the phone with his wife and had left his lights on.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Roames allegedly told Plymel to turn off his lights.

Troopers say the suspect then walked over to Plymel’s car and had an angry confrontation with Plymel.

Plymel’s family said his wife did not hear an argument or altercation before the shooting.

Police said Roames then pulled out a gun and fired several shots into the car, hitting Plymel once.

Witnesses told authorities Roames then turned the gun on himself.

Roames was taken to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville where he died. Plymel died at the Franklin hospital.

“We would like to thank the Kentucky State Police and the first responders for their rapid response and professionalism. We also would like to thank the Welcome Center staff for their kindness. We thank friends and family for invaluable support and we desire their prayers. We are sorry for the loss of the other family and are praying for them as well,” said Plymel’s family in a statement.

Earlier Wednesday morning, Kentucky State Police spokesman Jonathan Biven said the incident was random.

“We do believe this was a random act. We don’t think it’s going to be a concern for anyone stopping at the welcome center,” said Biven.

The investigation is ongoing.
