Wrongful Death Man Arraigned in Attorney’s Murder

The man accused of fatally shooting a prominent defense attorney in Somerset last week is expected to be arraigned Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, more details about Clinton Inabnitt’s criminal record are emerging.

Inabitt was arrested immediately after he shot Mark Stanziano several times in front of the attorney’s office Friday morning, according to officials.

Court documents obtained by LEX 18 reveal this is not the first time Inabnitt has been in trouble with the law. In 2007, Inabnitt was charged with alcohol intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and criminal mischief. The arrest citation says he was under the influence when approached by police, and when they tried arresting him, he told officers he would cut their throats.

Inabnitt has been arrested several other times, most of them alcohol related, and nothing as serious as his current charge of murder.

Commonwealth attorney Eddy Montgomery had been in the court room many times with Stanziano, as a prosecutor. Now, he will be prosecuting the man they say killed Stanziano.

“I think he was a very well respected attorney, did his job and always within the rules,” Montgomery said. “I never had any trouble with Mark. We did a lot of high profile cases, we fought hard in the court room, but never had any problems outside the courtroom.”

Clinton Inabnitt is scheduled to be in court at 3:00 p.m. Monday.
