Pedophile Tracking Duluth, MN Sex Offender Pleads Guilty to Child Porn

A Duluth sex offender who fled the state after police seized electronics containing child pornography is now awaiting sentencing on two charges.

Duluth Police say David Charles Workman, 51, pleaded guilty to Possession of Child Pornography by a Predatory Offender and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender last week.  He is in the St. Louis County Jail awaiting sentencing.

The investigation by the Lake Superior Forensic Technology and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began after the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigated suspicious images uploaded to Google.  The BCA investigation alleged that the images were uploaded from computers at Workman’s Duluth residence.

Officers located Workman using computers at the Duluth Public Library on Jan. 9 and executed a search warrant to seize his personal computer and cell phones.  Police say suspected child pornography was located on several of the seized items.

Jim Hansen, a spokesperson for Duluth police, said no pornographic images were uploaded from a library computer Workman had been using, but said Workman was allegedly posting questionable material that violated library policy and was banned from the library.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Workman in Kentucky after Duluth police found he had fled the state.  Workman is required to register as a sex offender but failed to do so when he moved.

Workman was convicted of sexual assault of a child in Colorado in 1981 and 1985.

Wrongful Death Trial to Begin Friday in Murder of Missing VA Girl

Opening arguments are set to begin Friday in the murder trial of a 48-year-old handyman accused of abducting and killing a Virginia girl whose body has never been found.

Randy Taylor has pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder and kidnapping in the case, which has riveted this rural area of western Virginia since the girl disappeared last summer.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

A jury of seven women and five men was selected Thursday to hear the case.

The body of Alexis Murphy, 17, has never been found despite widespread searches by law enforcement agencies, community volunteers and her classmates, at Nelson County High School, where she was a star volleyball player and a popular senior.

Taylor, a handyman and laborer, was arrested about a week after the girl vanished, following a police search of his home and vehicle.

He has been charged in the case with one count of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree murder in the commission of an abduction and one count of abduction with intent to defile.

Authorities say he was one of the last people to see Alexis Murphy alive. His image was picked up by a surveillance camera at a local gas station, about the same time the teenager was there.

At the Nelson County Circuit Court on Thursday, Taylor was clean shaven, wearing closely cropped hair and a button-down shirt and slacks.

Alexis Murphy’s mother and father sat on the front row of a group of seats reserved for family members and friends.

After court adjourned, the girl’s aunt said the family felt comfortable with the jury and was ready for the trial to begin.

“Now, we just want to get it started and it over with,” Trina Murphy said.

Family members say the teenager vanished August 3, 2013, after leaving home to go shopping in preparation for her senior picture.

Her car was found three days later, abandoned in the parking lot of a movie theater in Charlottesville.

Authorities also say they have found her cell phone, but they have not disclosed where they found it or what information they might have gleaned from it.

Posters and fliers featuring the teen’s photograph and the word “Missing” have been attached to trees and windows and hung in buildings throughout this close-knit mountainous region.

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department is asking for help from the public in finding a man who allegedly robbed another man at gunpoint.

Justin Bell, 24 of Holloway Drive in Corbin has a warrant out for his arrest, charging him with Robbery 1st Degree.

The robbery happened in the early morning of April 30 when Bell asked the victim for a ride at the Speedway on the Cumberland Falls Highway in Corbin.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Bell told the victim he and his girlfriend were fighting and he did not want to get in trouble.

The victim agreed to give Bell a ride and followed his directions to Chestnut Road.

According to officials, once there Bell asked the victim to stop driving and then pointed a handgun at him demanding his wallet.

Once the victim handed over his wallet, Bell left the vehicle and got into the vehicle of his girlfriend, who had followed the men to the location.

Video surveillance obtained from the Speedway allowed police to identify Bell as the suspect.

Bell’s girlfriend did verify to police she did drop Bell off at the gas station.

Bell is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall with brown hair and green eyes. He also has several tattoos.

If you know the location of Bell, please contact the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department at (606) 549-6006 or dispatch at (606) 549-6017.

Wrongful Death KSP Asked to Investigate Deadly Shooting

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has officially requested Kentucky State Police to help investigate the deadly shooting of a teenager involving a deputy last weekend.

Sheriff Michael A. Helmig has called in KSP to investigate the shooting involving Boone County deputy Tyler Brockman on River Road on April 26, to dispel any thoughts of cover up or favoritism, officials said Thursday.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Investigators say Deputy Brockman shot through the windshield of the car of Samantha Ramsey, 19, hitting her four times. She later died of her injuries.

It happened around 2 a.m. Saturday when officials were called out to a field party along River Road. Ramsey was allegedly leaving the party when Brockman ordered her to stop the car. Dash-cam video footage shows the car stopping and then driving away off the screen.

Deputies say Ramsey hit Brockman with her car, throwing him onto the hood, and that’s when he fired shots.

Other witnesses say the deputy jumped on the hood and started shooting through the windshield.

“She stopped for a second, but then she kept moving and then, after she kept moving, is when the cop jumped on top of the car and he just opened fire,” said Ibrahim Komate, a witness to the shooting.

“She wasn’t even going fast, she was just easing along and like he jumped on top of the car,” said witness Isiah Edwards.

Sheriff Helmig had originally launched his own investigation reasoning the Boone County Sheriff’s Office has the resources to conduct a full and impartial investigation no matter who is involved. Since that decision, officials said there have been questions raised concerning the appearance of impropriety.

“Simply put, we owe it to Samantha’s family, Deputy Brockman and his family, and to our stakeholders, for this investigation to be conducted without any cloud of any wrongdoing,” said Helmig.

Brockman remains on paid leave pending an investigation.
