Arson Investigation in Corbin, Reward up to $1000

Investigators are offering a reward for the arrest of an arsonist who they said set a Corbin home on fire. It happened Monday afternoon on East Wyrick Street.

If you go to the home, reward posters and caution tape are what’s left behind, however Angela Miracle said the inside is a nightmare. She just began the process of buying the home, and now because of the fire she can hardly even go inside.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

“It was definitely arson, it was definitely an arson,” said Miracle.

“There were four different fires inside of the house and the chance of there being four different accidental fires are pretty slim,” said West Knox Fire Chief Darryl Baker.

Firefighters said fires were set in three bedrooms and the living room. It happened around 3:30 p.m.on Monday. It was around that time that a neighbor noticed something was wrong.

“She saw somebody running from the back of the house before she noticed the house was on fire,” said Baker.

“I would like to see this person rot in jail for the rest of their nasty life,” said Miracle.

Mircale had just moved into the home with her niece and nephew in February, and said she had invested life savings into the house. While the building itself isn’t destroyed, Miracle said their belongings are lost.

“To lose everything, sentimental things that can’t be replaced, how would they like it?” said Miracle.

Even firefighters said it’s hard to fathom who would put a family through so much pain. Miracle said until she finds out who did it, she’ll find comfort in the good book.

“The Bible says vengeance is mine, so whoever done this to my house, God will pay them back for it,” said Miracle.

If you would like to help Miracle and her family, donations to the Mary Angela Miracle fund can be made at any Wood Forrest National Bank.

Police are offering a reward of up to 1000 dollars for information leading to an arrest.

Pedophile Tracking 19 Arrested in North Wisconsin Sting

Nineteen men have been arrested in a three-day police sting that targeted adults who used the Internet to prey on children across Northeastern Wisconsin.

The 19 were picked up Thursday, Friday and Saturday in a crackdown on sex predators by 11 police agencies. They dubbed the operation, run from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, “Operation Vanguard.”

The arrests announced Monday included that of a 40-year-old Shawano man who told authorities he drives a school bus for the Shawano School District, according to documents released by Brown County sheriff’s officials.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

School superintendent Gary Cumberland said the man had applied for a job as a substitute driver with the Fond du Lac company that provides the district’s bus services, and had been undergoing training, but has not driven a bus for the district. Officials of the bus company could not immediately be reached for comment.

The man communicated via text message, email and telephone with a sheriff’s deputy who he believed was a 15-year-old girl, officials said. The man made it clear that he wanted to meet for sex, and bought condoms in advance of the meeting, officials said. He was arrested on suspicion of child enticement, and use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.

Officials don’t think the man has had any sexual contact with students from the district, said Shawano County Sheriff Randy Wright, but the investigation continues.

Those arrested include six men in Brown County, five in Wausau and Marathon County, four in Shawano County, three in the Oshkosh area and one in Outagamie County, officials said. They face a variety of charges, including trafficking of a child, child enticement and use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.

Brown County Sheriff’s Lt. James Valley, who led the investigation, said the operation had an impact on the problem, but said the issue is not likely to go away anytime soon.

“The willingness to prey on children is still out there,” he said. “The problem in (Northeastern Wisconsin) is still great. Could we do this (kind of operation) seven days a week? Absolutely.”

Missing Person Justin Gaines of North Ridgeville, OH

Georgia police said Tuesday that they spent an entire day last week looking for a North Ridgeville man who went missing there in 2007.

The search was prompted by a lead provided to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department, local media reported.

Investigators were looking for Justin Gaines, a North Ridgeville man who was attending college in Gainesville, Georgia when he disappeared.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

He was 18-years-old at the time of his disappearance, and his 25th birthday was Monday.

Gwinnett County is a rural community just outside of the Atlanta Metropolitan area, and is roughly 60 miles from Gainesville. Media reports from 2007 said Gaines was visiting his mother, Erika Wilson, in nearby Snellville, Georgia at the time of his disappearance.

On Thursday afternoon, sheriff’s deputies started to dig near a little-used road in a rural corner of the county, but the search was called off after 24 hours, local media reported.

A representative of the county sheriff’s department declined to say if anything was found, but said investigators have no plans to return to the site and the case remains a missing person’s investigation.

When Gaines was first reported missing, investigators said they suspected foul play.

He was last seen on Nov. 2, 2007 at a nightclub in Duluth, Georgia. Justin Gaines’ father, Richard Gaines, told the Chronicle-Telegram in 2008 that his son was last seen looking for a ride outside of the nightclub around 2 a.m.

After six years, his family is hoping for some kind of resolution.

“We long for closure. We never want the worst, but we know in our hearts it’s going to happen and the sooner, the better. Really, that we have closure, you know, something maybe to help our family move on,” Wilson told a Fox affiliate in Atlanta.

Gaines disappearance prompted a region-wide search when it was first reported. The incident made national headlines, and a website dedicated to finding him, www.justingaines.com, sprung up. It was last updated in May, 2013.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department has offered a $25,000 reward for anyone who provides information about Gaines’ whereabouts.

Private Investigator, Louisville Man Accused of Selling Cars, Keeping Money From Dealership

A Louisville car salesman is accused of selling 15 cars from the dealership where he worked and keeping the cash for himself.

Police say Danny Brown sold cars between August and December of 2013 at a small dealership in Louisville but would take customers’ money and not give it to the dealership.

Police say Brown sold the cars when the business was closed on Sundays; he had access to keys and would create his own invoices.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Court documents show he got away with a little more than $10,000 in cash. Police say the investigation started after customers came to the business to get titles transferred.

Brown’s mother, Edith Mayfield, said her son worked at Metro Motors for eight years and believes the business is trying to get back at her son because he left the dealership.

“He left in December. I don’t know why all of this is coming up now. It’s ridiculous,” she said.

Investigators believe Brown stole the money to feed a drug habit, which his mother says is not possible.

“It’s really heartbreaking because my son’s a good boy and even they said that at the car lot. So, why are they doing this to him?” she said.

Missing Person Williamson County, TN Teen

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office will use a limited number of volunteers starting Tuesday to help search for a missing Nolensville teen.

Christopher Smithburg, 16, was last seen around noon Thursday at his Rocky Fork Road home.

Trained searchers have fanned out across Williamson County for days. No leads have been made public. Tuesday will mark the first time volunteers have been asked to take part in the search.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

The sheriff’s office can accommodate 300 volunteers who have already signed up, said Sharon Puckett, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

Volunteers need to check in at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the concessions area in the center of the Nolensville Ball Park, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office distributed by Nolensville First United Methodist Church. The search is scheduled to start at noon and end at 5 p.m.

Over the weekend, law enforcement widened its search considerably, reaching out to media in Baton Rouge, La., where the teen grew up. Puckett said he has friends and family there who might have heard from him.

Puckett said Smithburg is classified as a missing person, not a runaway.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has not issued an Amber Alert.

“In general terms, Amber Alerts are reserved for cases where know — or strongly believe — the child to be in danger,” agency spokesman Josh DeVine said in an email. “That may be the case here or it may not. What we’re doing right now is trying to figure that out.”

If you have any information, call the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-TBI-FIND.

Missing Person Body Found in Park Appears of be Alleged Abductor of 8 Year Old Relisha Rudd

Investigators think a man found dead Monday in a D.C. park is the janitor suspected of abducting 8-year-old Relisha Rudd, Police Chief Cathy Lanier said.

Officials cautioned they had not yet positively identified the body, found during an extensive search for the missing child at the Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, as that of 51-year-old Kahlil Tatum.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

But Lanier said investigators believe the dead man is Tatum, and that he killed himself. Two police officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is pending, said distinctive tattoos on the man’s body helped lead to the early identification.

“Everything we have is consistent with what we know about his appearance,” Lanier said.

It is unclear if the discovery of the body brings police any closer to discovering what happened to Relisha, who was last seen March 1 with Tatum. The 51-year-old worked as a janitor for a D.C. homeless shelter where the young girl lived with her family, and Relisha’s mother has said she allowed the girl to go home with Tatum last month.

Lanier said police will continue to search the 700-acre park Tuesday for signs of Relisha.

“We’re still here for the reason we came to be here, to find Relisha,” the chief said during an evening news conference.

The probable discovery of Tatum’s body raised more questions than it answered for Relisha’s aunt, Ashley Young.

“If it is him, where is Relisha?” Young asked. “Where is she at?”

Young said she has been glad to see the volunteers and marches being organized to help find her niece, and said she is holding out hope the girl is alive.

“My faith is still alive, and I know we’re going to find her,” Young said.

The discovery of the body came as police officers, firefighters and cadets continued a days-long search of the park.

Lanier declined to speculate how long the body had been in the park or reveal where it had been found, and said “there’s a lot of evidence that we’ll have to process from what we found today.” She declined to elaborate.

Local and federal authorities have been searching for Tatum along the East Coast. He is charged with killing his wife in Oxon Hill.

Last week, Lanier said that while investigators remain hopeful that Relisha is alive, the search had become a “recovery mission” and “we cannot ignore the possibility that he killed her.”

Police have declined to say what led them to the park, although Lanier said the last time Tatum and Relisha were seen together was March 1, and the following day Tatum bought a box of 42-gallon contractor-size trash bags and was seen in the park. Tatum’s family home is a block from the park, which runs along the Anacostia River near the D.C.-Maryland border.

Meanwhile, public documents and search-warrant applications filed in connection with the case have begun to unveil a timeline of events in the complicated case. Relisha’s mother, 27-year-old Shamika Young, who was staying with her children at a shelter at the old D.C. General Hospital, has said she allowed her daughter on Feb. 26 to go home with Tatum. Tatum was trusted by several family members and had previously taken Relisha on numerous outings. The FBI has released video showing Tatum and Relisha walking down a hall of a Holiday Inn Express in Northeast Washington that day.

Young never reported Relisha missing, but she has given varying explanations, including that she felt her daughter was safe with Tatum and that she feared authorities would take away her other three children if she went to police. School officials were not immediately concerned over Relisha’s many absences because they had been excused by notes from a “Dr. Tatum.”

D.C. police said Relisha was last seen with Tatum on March 1, and earlier reports from the school that said she was at Payne Elementary on March 5 and 7 have proven false. People familiar with the investigation have said a grand jury is investigating possible obstruction of justice charges against Relisha’s mother. On Friday, Lanier would not comment directly on Young, but she said, “Clearly, we’re trying to get the best and most accurate information. When information changes, it takes a lot of time and effort to clear that up. It’s clearly not helpful to us.”

D. C. police did not get involved until March 19, after a social worker from Relisha’s school went to the shelter to meet “Dr. Tatum” and get an explanation for the girl’s mounting excused and unexcused absences. Police said that Tatum “abruptly left before his shift,” and the social worker quickly discovered there was no “Dr. Tatum.” The worker contacted police, who sent out a missing person alert even though they said the mother did not want to sign the report.

Later that night, police said, Tatum had turned off a cellphone with the number given to the school system, and he and others, including his wife of 24 years, Andrea Tatum, checked in to a Red Roof Inn in Oxon Hill. Police said Tatum shot his wife in the head that night or early March 20 and left both of their vehicles in the hotel parking lot. Court documents said a friend drove him to a Metro station on Southern Avenue in Suitland.

Other documents reveal that Tatum and his wife had filed for legal separation in early February, citing mutual differences but offering no other reasons. Court documents also say that police talked to a friend who said that Tatum asked him to search the Internet for a handgun and downloaded images of weapons on an iPad.

Search warrants filed in D.C. Superior Court show that Tatum used his bank check card to pay for a parking meter in Washington on March 18, the day before police took up the case, and used the account, associated with his Gmail address, again on March 21 at 3:12 a.m. No other details were provided in the warrant, filed with Google. In the search warrant application, police said they were looking for the date, time and duration of communications and the Internet protocol addresses that are unique to each device.

Court documents also show that police searched a storage locker on South Capitol Street rented in August of last year by the Tatums. The documents say the last payment was made on March 3, two days after Relisha was last seen, and the rent had been paid through March 31. Police said they were looking for evidence of Relisha, photographs, documents and a weapon. The document says police seized mail and photos.

Police have also said they are investigating other contact that Tatum had with young girls at the shelter. Several people have told The Washington Post that Tatum frequently offered girls gifts — including $20 bills — and that he spent a lot of time with Relisha.

Lanier would not describe the type of contact but said authorities are concerned. The shelter, which houses hundreds of children and adults, is managed by the Community Partnership for the Prevention of Homelessness. The facility’s rules prohibit social interaction between employees and residents. But residents interviewed last week said that ban was regularly flouted — in particular by Tatum, who several mothers said had offered money to their daughters in plain view of other shelter staff.
