Hotel Scam

You arrive at your hotel and check in at the front desk. Typically when checking in, you give the front desk your credit card (for any charges to your room). You go to your room and settle in. All is good. The hotel receives a call and the caller asks for (as an example) room 620 – which happens to be your room. The phone rings in your room. You answer and the person on the other end says the following: ‘This is the front desk. When checking in, we came across a problem with your charge card information. Please re-read me your credit card number and verify the last 3 digits numbers at the reverse side of your charge card.’ Not thinking anything wrong, since the call seems to come from the front desk you oblige. But actually, it is a scam by someone calling from outside the hotel. They have asked for a random room number, then ask you for your credit card and address information. They sound so professional, that you think you are talking to the front desk. If you ever encounter this scenario on your travels, tell the caller that you will be down to the front desk to clear up any problems. Then, go to the front desk or call directly and ask if there was a problem. If there was none, inform the manager of the hotel that someone tried to scam you of your credit card information, acting like a front desk employee. This was sent by someone who has been duped……..and is still cleaning up the mess

Pedophile Tracking FBI Needs Help ID’ing John Doe 28

Child Predator
Help Us Identify John Doe 28

04/02/14

The FBI is seeking the public’s help to stop a child predator.

The unidentified individual we are seeking is known only as John Doe 28. In November 2012, online video of the man engaging in sexually explicit activities with a young boy was reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), an organization that works closely with the Bureau to stop child predators.

The video contains a brief image of the alleged predator, which investigators hope will lead to his identification—and the recovery of the exploited child. “Subjects who show their faces in child pornography are not typical,” said Special Agent Karen Jurden. “It is our hope that someone will recognize this individual and come forward. We were able to recover a very clear image of John Doe 28.”

Working with NCMEC, investigators in our Violent Crimes Against Children program have enhanced other details from the video that could be clues to help identify the suspect. For example, the video shows the individual and the victim inside a residence with what appears to be a blue chair and a picture hanging on a wall in the background. Someone familiar with the house might easily recognize the chair. Also, John Doe 28 is wearing wire-framed glasses and a burgundy T-shirt with a fish logo on it.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

There are no details linking the suspect to a particular area, but Jurden said investigators believe he may be a U.S. citizen because he speaks one word during the video—“careful”—which is in English.

“Sometimes we will get some type of identifier that narrows down the geographic region,” said Jurden, who has been investigating crimes against children for the last four years, “but that didn’t happen in this case. That’s why we are asking for the public’s help nationwide.”

The video is just over two minutes long and was recovered during the arrest of a San Francisco man on child pornography charges. “The video was part of his collection,” Jurden added, explaining that sexually explicit videos and images of children are often traded anonymously through online forums.

The efforts to identify and apprehend John Doe 28 are part of the FBI’s Operation Rescue Me and Endangered Child Alert Program (ECAP) initiatives and represent a longstanding partnership with NCMEC. Operation Rescue Me identifies child victims of sexual exploitation by using sophisticated image analysis to obtain evidence. ECAP seeks public and media assistance to help identify the John and Jane Does who display their faces—and other distinguishing characteristics such as tattoos—in pornographic images and videos of children.

Since the inception of ECAP in 2004, 28 John/Jane Does have been investigated; 20 of these cases have been successfully resolved so far. These investigations have led to the identification of nearly 70 child victims.

We need your help. John Doe 28 appears to be a Caucasian male in his 30s or 40s who has a receding hairline and wears wire-framed glasses. Anyone with information should submit a tip online or call the FBI’s toll-free tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

“We need to identify John Doe 28,” Jurden said, “so we can make sure no harm comes to that little boy.”

Missing Person Brooklynn Rose of Elko, NV

The Elko Police Department needs your help finding a missing teen girl they say may have run away from home last week.

Authorities say 15-year-old Brooklynn Rose was last seen on Friday after the girl’s father dropped her off at Elko High School. (The school is currently on spring break.)

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Rose is 5’6″, 140 pounds, with short brown hair in a “bowl style” cut. She was last seen wearing a black DC hoodie and jeans. Brooklynn also goes by the name of Jordan Rose.

Police tell us since Rose may be involved in a custody battle between her parents, she doesn’t meet the requirements of an official AMBER Alert. They also add no foul play is suspected at this time.

After she was reported missing, her vital statistics were entered into the FBI’s National Crime Information Center, which means any police department nationwide can access that database. If you see her, you’re asked to call your local police department.

Brooklynn Rose also known as Jordan Rose

Insurance Fraud Tallahassee Woman Charged with Filing More than $23k in Frauduland Claims

A Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic employee got more than $23,000 in fraudulent health insurance reimbursements when she falsified claims for doctor visits and services that never occurred.

Carol Burns, 40, submitted 18 fraudulent reimbursements on behalf of her and her family dating back to March 2012, court documents said.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

She turned herself in to the Leon County Jail Friday and now faces 56 charges including counterfeit, fraud, forgery and grand theft.

The Florida Department of Financial Services’ Division of Insurance Fraud was tipped off when investigators with Burns’ insurance company, AFLAC, discovered 16 fraudulent claims for services received from Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic as well as two more for two hospitalizations at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.

Burns told investigators she downloaded reimbursement forms from AFLAC’s website and falsely filled them out using medical information she accessed through her work computer. She was able to use doctors’ stamped signatures on the medical claim forms, court documents said.

AFLAC would then cut reimbursement checks made out to Burns.

Burns told DFS Det. Krista Gaston she started making the fraudulent claims because she needed money but continued since it was so “simple,” Gaston told the Democrat Monday. She was able to learn the claims AFLAC paid the most reimbursement on, including doctor visits, fractures, sprains, X-rays, MRIs, medical supplies and emergency room visits, court documents said.

“She kind of learned how to manipulate the system,” Gaston said. “Most of them are for broken bones or for some sort of major medical issue.”

Burns’ access to Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic information gave her an advantage in which she was able to better legitimize her claims, Gaston said. Burns changed, altered and created new patient files despite the fact her job duties did not require her to view patients’ medical records, court documents said.

She also falsified claims for two TMH visits by changing the names and dates on an old TMH bill. Gaston said Burns’ plan paid her for each day of a hospital stay.

Burns is currently in the Leon County Jail.

Wrongful Death Carroll County Woman Charged in Connection to Son’s Murder

A Carrol County woman has been arrested and charged in connection to the murder of her two-year-old son.

Amanda Foster, 28, of Ghent was arrested at her home Tuesday on charges of criminal abuse first degree and transfer of a controlled substance to a minor in connection to her son’s death in February.

Foster’s boyfriend and the child’s father, Douglas Allen, has already been arrested and charged with murder in the death of the boy, who investigators say, had high levels of Oxycodone in his system at the time of his death.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Foster called 911 at 6:43 a.m. on the morning of Feb. 19 telling dispatchers the child had been discovered dead in his bed. A toxicology report showed high levels of Oxycodone in his system.

After talking to Allen, detectives believe he gave his son a Schedule II narcotic on the night of Feb. 18, which led to the child’s death.

Allen was arrested at the Kentucky State Police post in Campbellsburg that same day. He was later charged with murder.

Both Allen and Foster are being held at the Carroll County Detention Center.
