Cold Case Missing Person Lead in 60 Year Old Case in Santa Fe, NM

Santa Fe police said Friday morning that they may have a lead in a missing person case from more than 60 years ago.

Police spokeswoman Celina Westervelt said officers have been investigating a home in the 500 block of Oñate Street in connection with the disappearance of Inez Garcia. Westervelt said Garcia disappeared in 1952 following an argument with her husband.

A mother of four, she has not been seen since 1952, according to police.

Westervelt said police started excavating at the home on Tuesday, and they uncovered bone fragments. Westervelt said they could belong to Garcia, but investigators won’t be sure until a crime lab in Texas analyzes them. That could take up to two months.

Garcia’s husband has since died. Westervelt didn’t have the man’s name immediately available.

Private Detective, Lexington Police Search for Bank Robbery Suspect

Lexington Police are searching for a man they say robbed a bank Friday afternoon.

It happened at the PNC Bank on New Circle Road near Russel Cave just before 3:00 p.m. Friday.

Detectives say the man walked in and showed a note in which he told the teller he had a firearm. The man got some cash and fled the scene.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Police said no firearm was ever produced and no one was hurt.

While the investigation was underway at the bank, officers pulled over a man driving on the Richmond Road exit ramp off New Circle who they say matched the description of the suspect who had just robbed the bank.

Police say it was an investigative stop, and after talking to him they decided he wasn’t the suspect.

Police are still searching for the robber described as a white man, approximately 5’8″, possibly in his 30s with red facial hair.

Pedophile Tracking Kilgore, TX Man Sentenced to 25 Years

A Kilgore man received two prison sentences this past week for two counts of sexual assault of a child.

Seth Aaron King, 28, was sentenced to 17 years on count one of an indictment and eight years on count two of the indictment. Both counts charged him with having sex with a child who was younger than 17 years old when the incident occurred, according to the indictments filed in the Gregg County District Clerk’s Office.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Judge Alfonso Charles of the 124 District Court ordered the sentences to run consecutively, according to court records.

King was facing four counts of sexual assault of a child prior to the indictment being amended. In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed a pending charge of sex offender’s failure to comply, according to a dismissal order filed March 17.

Records show King has previous convictions for similar charges in Gregg County and Rusk County.

He was convicted in September 2006 of aggravated sexual assault of a child and was sentenced to five years in prison, according to Gregg County Jail records. The victim in that case was younger than 14 years old at the time of the incident, according to court records. According to documents filed in March 2006, King was initially sentenced to deferred adjudication in that case.

Private Detective, Bookkeeper for Northern KY Bank Admits to Embezzlement

A longtime bookkeeper for a Northern Kentucky Bank admitted in federal court that she embezzled more than $100,000 from her employer over a three-year period.

Linda Penick, 58, of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to bank embezzlement before U.S. District Court Judge David L Bunning.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Penick admitted that, from 2010 until 2013, she defrauded the Grant County Deposit Bank by transferring bank funds to her personal account and issuing cashier checks and money orders to herself. Many of these checks and money orders were made payable to her husband. Penick admitted that she used the money to pay bills and taxes.

According to the plea agreement, Penick embezzled $118,775.00 over a three-year period. Penick worked at the bank for 23 years.

Penick waived her right to be indicted by a grand jury and pled guilty to the embezzlement charge by way of an information.

Kerry B. Harvey, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Perrye K. Turner, Special Agent in Charge, FBI, jointly made the announcement.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI. The U.S. Attorney’s Office was represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura K. Voorhees.

Penick is scheduled to be sentenced on July 22, 2014. The bank embezzlement offense carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a maximum fine of $1 million. However, any sentence will be imposed by the court after consideration of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statutes.

Fraud Investigation Indy Officials Warn of Fraudulent Tickets

Tickets for the UK versus Louisville Sweet 16 game Friday are expected to cost more than the actual championship game itself.

They’re already listed online for upwards of 500% more than face value. So, if you’re spending the big bucks – how can you be sure your ticket is legit?

Face value tickets for this weekend’s games range from $50 to about $200. But diehard fans will likely be paying much more, whether it’s online or on the streets. Ticket brokers in Indy are required to carry a yellow card that indicates a legal license to sell tickets within a mile of the stadium.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

“We’re telling people to ask for that, and they can trust that their tickets will be real,’ said Adam Baker with Indianapolis Code Enforcement.

Anyone caught selling tickets illegally can be fined up to $2,500, which is why code enforcement will be out in full. The team, which operates both in uniform and undercover, typically busts about one illegal vendor every 20 minutes on game days.

“People are getting smarter day by day, and sometimes it’s hard to tell which tickets will be fake until the day of the event,” Baker said.

But it’s a risk many diehard fans are willing to take.

“It’s going to cost a lot to get in here, but it’s worth it because it’s gonna be fun,” said True Blue fan Kyle Stidom said.

Tickets are sold out for Friday’s game, but are still available for Sunday’s match up for as low as $50 each.
