What is most important for Private Eyes Success

Liar Catchers is constantly asked by up and coming private investigators ” What is the most important thing I can do in my investigation” ? Simple one answer……. Prepare.

This is the one area we see most investigators fail. They just don’t do the legwork prior to the job initiating. Always visit all landmarks, homes, offices, eating establishments and know here your high point of visibility will be at all times. Know where you can park, where you can see most of the action. Which video and still cameras will work in the lighting you will have. And for goodness sake have a good credible cover story for the many folks you meet along the way, and equipment that verifies your cover.

http://liarcatchers.com/electronic_surveillance.html

Stop “winging it” as this is a sure fire success for failure. Practice will never make you perfect…. Only perfect practice will make you perfect.

Missing Person FBI Offers $25K Reward for Erica Lynn Parsons

The FBI is now offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the location or return of Erica Lynn Parsons.

Erica was reported missing by a relative on July 30, 2013. The relative advised investigators he had not seen Erica since November 2011 when she was 13 years old. Erica’s adoptive parents say the girl went to stay with relatives in the Asheville, North Carolina area and that they have not seen her since. Sheriff’s investigators have determined the information the parents provided was not true.

The reward was announced at a news briefing this afternoon in Salisbury, North Carolina. “The FBI, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, and the SBI are confident our agents and investigators will uncover the details needed to lead us to Erica, but we are facing a difficult task because of the amount of time that has passed since she was last seen and when law enforcement was notified,” said Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Deron Roberts.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Rowan County Sheriff Kevin Auten said, “We know there is someone who can help us; now is the time to come forward. We also want to hear from anyone who had contact with the Parsons family in November 2011. We’ve said previously that was the last time that Erica was seen.”

If you know where to find her, call the Rowan County Sheriff’s at 704-216-8700 or FBI Charlotte 704-672-6100.

Wrongful Death USPS Employee Charged in Missing Man’s Murder

A 34-year-old United States Postal Service employee has been charged with the murder of a missing man.

Jeremy Christian Pittman is currently being held in the Duval County Jail charged in connection to the death of 20-year-old Robert Glenn Hucks.

Newly appointed Chief of Investigations Adam Brown with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced the development in the case during a news conference on Friday morning.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Pittman is expected to make his first court appearance related to this case at 1 p.m. Friday.

According to police reports, Hucks was last seen leaving Club Metro, a well-known gay bar in the Riverside neighborhood, on the night of January 17.

His mother first reported him missing to J.S.O. on January 18 after not being able to get a hold of him.

Reports show she was worried about her son being depressed.

Brown said the case was assigned to the missing persons unit, which launched an investigation.

Officers completed a welfare check of Hucks’ apartment on College St. and found no signs of foul play.

He said information eventually revealed Hucks had left Metro with Pittman, and that the two went to Pittman’s apartment where an argument ensued.

Brown did not say what sparked the dispute, but that Pittman murdered the young man and dumped the body in a wooded area of Camden County, Georgia near the Florida state line.

Pittman was arrested and booked into jail overnight Friday after a group of hunters found Hucks’ body Thursday.

At no point did J.S.O. try and ask for the public’s help in finding Hucks by issuing a missing person’s alert. Brown said it might have jeopardized the investigation.

When First Coast News asked him if an alert might have made a difference, he said, “…each case is different. You could, hypothetically, you could let somebody know that you’re looking for, that we’re actually going in his direction. You don’t want a cookie cutter response to every missing person’s report.”

Reports show J.S.O. received information on January 24 that indicated Hucks might have been deceased near railroad tracks already by Metro.

Reports also show officers checked the area and did not turn up anything.

But it wasn’t until January 29 that reports show homicide detectives became involved in the case.

Brown believes Hucks was killed the night he went missing. He said it is not being investigated as a hate crime.

Before the discovery of the man’s body, a missing person’s flyer circulated on social media. Many people have also written their condolences online.

Police reports show Pittman lived in Jacksonville, but worked for the U.S.P.S. in St. Marys, Georgia.

Fraud Investigation Counterfeit Travelers Cheques

Richmond police are reporting that counterfeit American Express Travelers Cheques are surfacing in the Lexington area.
Here are some things to look for when inspecting a presented A.E. Travelers Cheque:

Always compare the signature with the top left signature on the presented Cheques. Compare signatures with presented identification.

The watermark should only be seen when held up, and if the watermark is missing, this is a signal of a fake.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

The silver holographic thread should shine and not be dull.

Be sure to look for any smudges or missing micro printing or brown discoloration. This could be created if someone attempts to remove an existing signature from an authentic Travelers Cheque.

Also, feel for engraved or upraised printing rather than an overly smooth surface.
