According to police Earley was last seen leaving a home in Canton and was headed to Kent.

The investigation which included obtaining subpoena information for phone and email records, as well as subpoena information for a Craigslist ad, reportedly led investigators to develop a suspect in Earley’s disappearance.

Pedophile Tracking Man Arrested After 15 Years

A man the FBI said tried to recruit a clan of teenage girls over which he could rule has been captured after a search that lasted 15 years.

The search started in 1998, when officials say Daniel Clement Chafe, now 55, was reported to have fallen out of a fishing boat just days before he was supposed to appear in court in Douglas County, Oregon.

On Wednesday, Chafe – also known as Stryder Styarfyr – was taken into custody by the FBI, Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office and Montana Highway Patrol on an federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution warrant in Bozeman.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

“Chafe was allegedly recruiting minor females between the ages of 14 and 16 in order to form what he called the ‘Cobalt Clan,'” the FBI said. “His reported goal was to have sex with these young girls in order to produce a large number of children over which he could rule.”

State police detectives, working with the FBI, have been looking for Chafe since he failed to appear for a trial on September 23, 1998, in Douglas County Circuit Court for multiple counts of rape, sodomy and sex abuse of girls ages 14-16.

The initial investigation the sex abuse charges was conducted by detectives from the Sheriff’s office and OSP Criminal Investigations Division.

Officials say the investigation started with two juvenile female victims, but authorities say more victims were identified.

The FBI released this information on it’s wanted poster:

Daniel Clement Chafe is wanted for rape, sexual abuse, and sodomy in Roseburg, Oregon. Chafe was allegedly recruiting minor females between the ages of 14 and 16 in order to form what he called the “Cobalt Clan”. His reported goal was to have sex with these young girls in order to produce a large number of children over which he could rule. At the time that he was allegedly recruiting and having sex with these girls, Chafe was also married.

Before failing to appear in court, Chafe was reported to be living in New Mexico, and reportedly went on a fishing trip ten days earlier with a friend in Washington State.

The friend told police that Chafe fell out of the boat into the Snake River and was missing.

A search failed to find him, and he remained a fugitive since his failure to appear in court.

Since 1998, the search for Chafe was the subject of several television shows including America’s Most Wanted.

Police say he was considered for the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted list.

Authorities say a detective with OSP recently found that Chafe was living in Montana using an alias.

Chafe is being held in Montana pending extradition to Oregon.

He is charged by authorities in Douglas County with 6 counts of third degree rape, 5 counts of third degree sex abuse and 7 counts of third degree sodomy.

Identity Theft Man Arrested in Steamboat Springs

Police used a liquor store scotch purchase to track down the man they think stole electronics from an unlocked car Tuesday.

William Conner McColm, 22, was arrested on suspicion of felony identity theft. A search warrant also lists the charges of felony trespassing and misdemeanor theft, but as of Friday morning, the Routt County District Attorney’s office had not filed official charges.

Police were called after a Steamboat man noticed items belonging to his wife were missing from his car after going to a dinner party in the 2300 block of Ski Trail Lane. The missing items included a $1,000 laptop, $600 tablet, six flash drives and several credit cards.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

The woman contacted her credit card companies and learned one of her credit cards had been used at a liquor store at 2300 Mount Werner Circle.

Sgt. Rich Brown said an officer went to the liquor store and discovered the card had been used to buy a $72 bottle of scotch. The liquor store employee had swiped the buyer’s driver’s license, and the driver’s license number was printed on the receipt.

After looking up the number, police determined it belonged to McColm. The clerk said the driver’s license photo was of the man who bought the scotch. His signature also matched the one on the liquor store receipt.

According to an arrest warrant, police found McColm at school at Colorado Mountain College, and McColm admitted to stealing the electronics from the car.

“You don’t have to get a search warrant,” McColm told police, according to the search warrant. “The computers are there, and I’ll given you consent for you to get them.”

McColm later told police he left his home to get ice cream, and he noticed a car parked in an unusual place. It was still there when he returned. The warrant states McColm opened the unlocked car door, reached in and grabbed a bag. He then admitted to police that he bought the bottle of scotch using the stolen credit card, the warrant states.

McColm was released from custody after posting a $5,000 bond. He is due back in court at 8:30 a.m. March 18.

McColm could not be reached for comment Friday.

Wrongful Death Lexington Connection to Ohio Double Murder

Police have found a Lexington connection to an Ohio double homicide investigation.

Late Wednesday night, Lexington police found the SUV murder suspect Brandon Thomas was believed to be driving after two execution style murders in Ohio, which means, he may be in Kentucky.

Just last week, Cincinnati police say Thomas shot and killed Adam Bostic and Betty Thomas, two people who’d been giving him a place to hide out when, investigators say, he fled to Cincinnati after being named a person of interest in the murder of Curtis Simmons outside Diva’s Gentleman’s Club in Lexington in November.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Lexington police arrested another man in the Diva’s shooting, but Brandon Thomas was included in the set of photos released by authorities in Lexington.

A chef at the Windy Corner Market noticed the vehicle and thought the green Ford Explorer that had been parked in a gravel lot outside the restaurant for several days seemed suspicious. Lexington police came out Wednesday night and confirmed it was the same vehicle the 29-year-old was believed to have taken off in after the murders.

“Brandon and some other people planned an executed a home invasion robbery where they tied up two adults in the house, shot them both and killed them,” said Detective Colin Vaughn with Cincinnati police.

In addition to having suspected involvement in the murder at Diva’s, Thomas has an extensive criminal history in Lexington. He’s also known to have some family in town.

Cincinnati police warn that he is likely armed.

If you see him, call police immediately.

Missing Person Flint, Michigan Man

A Flint area man who went missing Wednesday after dropping his wife off at a downtown Grand Rapids hospital was seen Thursday in East Grand Rapids’ Gaslight Village retail area, the man’s family says.

Denise Shaheen, daughter of Robert Farthing, 78, of Mundy Township, said an employee at Edward Jones, an investment company at 705 Bagley Ave. SE, told investigators she was “sure” it was Farthing who stopped in Thursday asking for directions to Blodgett Hospital.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Security staff at Blodgett Hospital, located on Wealthy Street, now are monitoring nearby parking lots for any signs of him. Shaheen said many of her family members are searching East Grand Rapids Friday for any signs of her father.

Farthing and his wife were in West Michigan this week visiting Shaheen’s family in Coopersville. He dropped his wife off Wednesday at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital to visit a family member there. He told her he was hungry and might stop by a nearby McDonald’s restaurant.

Farthing was expected to pick his wife up in about an hour and a half, but he never returned.

Farthing was seen at Blodgett Hospital at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. The person who saw him there reported he appeared confused and asked for help with directions, Grand Rapids police Detective Sgt. Kristen Rogers said.

It’s not clear if Farthing may be confused about which Spectrum Health facility he was supposed to return to.

The Grand Rapids Police Department’s detective bureau is involved and investigators have contacted police in other parts of the state in case Farthing decided to try and head back to his home in the Flint area, Rogers said.

Shaheen initially thought her father had no cash on him, but now said it appears he may still have had about $50 leftover from money withdrawn from a bank account earlier in the week.

Farthing had not used his debit or credit cards, Shaheen said.

Farthing is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white winter coat, black pants and a black wool driving hat.

Farthing drives a white 2005 four-door Buick Lacrosse with the handicap license plate of 5798G2. The car has a cream-colored interior.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts can reach Grand Rapids police detectives at 456-3380.
