Missing Person Hal Ticknor of Garland, TX

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in searching for an elderly Garland man who has been missing for nearly four weeks.

Hal Ticknor, 82, suffers from dementia and was reported missing Oct. 11, according to Garland police officials. On the day he went missing, he was spotted in Tioga, Valley View and Whitesboro near Ray Roberts Lake north of Denton, but has not been seen since, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman.

Argyle resident Gene Bennett and his wife, Johanne, are among the volunteers helping local authorities and family members in the search for Ticknor.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

“We’ve passed out hundreds of fliers,” Gene Bennett said. “We’ve even passed out some in Oklahoma because if he’s lost on [Interstate 35], he could be outside of Texas by now.”

Bennett said officials are still optimistic that Ticknor will be found.

“We’ve had people helping us all over North Texas,” Bennett said. “And we’re hoping to find him soon, and we believe we’ll find him.”

Friends and members of Ticknor’s community in Garland organized a search effort, which will hit the four-week mark on Friday.

Bennett said volunteers have been searching for Ticknor in Denton and Cooke counties.

Ticknor was last seen wearing a long-sleeved, khaki-colored shirt and gray slacks. Police describe him as 5-feet-11, weighing 170 pounds, with gray hair and green eyes.

He was last seen driving a 2007 silver Chevrolet Equinox with a Texas license plate of 599SNC.

The day Ticknor went missing, the Department of Public Safety released a Silver Alert, which is issued when an elderly person goes missing.

The alert has since been canceled. An official said Silver Alerts are granted for 24 hours and must be renewed based on viable leads being received by the agency that requested the alert.

Though the Silver Alert has been lifted, police and locals are still searching.

The Garland police encourage anyone who sees or knows of Ticknor’s whereabouts to call the department at 972-205-1628 or the DPS at 512-424-2208.

Missing Person Haley Michelle Fichetti of Jefferson County, AL

Authorities today were searching for an Ohatchee native who was reported missing in Jefferson County on Tuesday.

Haley Michelle Fischetti, 23, was last heard from by a close friend, Raeleigh Bowden, on Saturday at about 11 a.m. said Sgt. Jack Self with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Bowden, who described herself as Fischetti’s best friend, said it is unusual for Bowden to leave for several days without contacting her family.

“She means a lot to a lot of people down here. We want her home,” Bowden said.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Bowden said the missing woman grew up in Ohatchee, attended Ohatchee High School, and lived in the community until about two years ago. She said Fischetti was living in Clay with a boyfriend and his family when she went missing Saturday.

Since then, Bowden and Fischetti’s sister have hung posters and created the Facebook page seeking information about the missing girl.

Bowden filed a missing person report on Fischetti’s behalf around noon Tuesday, Self said. This morning, the Sheriff’s Office assigned the case to an investigator, Self said.

A Jefferson County sheriff’s investigator also notified the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office of the case today, said Matthew Wade, Calhoun County chief deputy.

Fischetti texted Bowden Saturday morning to confirm a visit they had planned later in the day. Bowden said Fischetti planned to come see her in Lincoln and visit family in Weaver later that day, but she never arrived and has not been heard from since.

Bowden also said people have said Fischetti was seen walking alone on a road in Clay and that she has been seen in Tarrant since Saturday, but Self said those reports have not been confirmed by officials.

Fischetti’s name has been added to the National Crime Information Center’s database.

Anyone with more information can call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450, or the Calhoun County Sheriff’s office at 256-236-6600.

Missing Person Man Kidnapped to Mexico as Toddler Returns, Then Disappears Again

SAN DIEGO (Reuters) – A Chicago-born man kidnapped as a toddler and taken to Mexico more than three decades ago was caught sneaking back across the border in California last week in hopes of being reunited with his mother, but has since gone missing in San Diego.

The mother said she has been waiting to hear from her son, David Amaya Barrick, 37, since learning on October 31 that border agents had picked up her long-estranged child but released him after they discovered he was a U.S. citizen trying to get home.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

“I’m worried sick,” Kathy Amaya, 60, told Reuters by telephone on Wednesday from her home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. “I was so close to having my son back and now he’s gone again.”

U.S. Border Patrol officers worked to find Barrack a spot at a local homeless shelter, then identified a program that might provide him a free bus ticket to Eau Claire and even drove him to the shelter, agency spokesman Paul Carr said.

But officials said Barrick never checked into either the Salvation Army facility or a second downtown shelter, and Amaya said she has since contacted the San Diego police department’s missing-person’s bureau to file a report on her son.

Barrick was rounded up with a group of illegal border crossers on October 30 in a canyon about a mile from a San Diego beach, but he explained that he was U.S.-born and thus a citizen, and border agents verified his story, Carr said.

They then contacted Amaya to let her know that her son had turned up and wanted to return to her.

“They told me he was beaten and robbed before he crossed the border and the thieves took his money and his cell (phone),” Amaya said. “They said he seemed like a really good guy, and that he only speaks Spanish and I don’t.”

Barrick was born in Chicago in 1977 while Amaya was married to his father, but she said her spouse became abusive and the couple split when the boy was a year old.

After some time had passed, Amaya said, she began letting the father visit the boy, and “then one day (the child) was just gone,” she said. “I reported his abduction, but when they found out he was with his dad, the police weren’t worried about it.”

Amaya said the boy’s father told her that he had taken the toddler, then 2 years of age, to Mexico and left him there with family members.

Border Patrol officials said the agency has had no contact with the father.
