Missing Person Amber Alert Canceled for One Day Old Baby

An Amber Alert was canceled by officials after police located a missing newborn baby in a home on the Tulalip Reservation around 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

An alert was issued Friday evening for 20-year-old Jaime Marie Martini, a mother who ran off with her very sick newborn baby, officials said.

Both mother and baby were transported to the hospital and are in satisfactory condition after being found in a home near Martini’s at the 3300 block of Rueben Shelton Drive.

Police said the infant, Annabelle Martini, was born in a Mill Creek apartment early Friday morning with a life threatening medical condition and is in need of medical attention.

The midwife assisting with the birth called 911 to summon medical help as the baby was having difficulty breathing and was gray in color, but the mother canceled the aid unit and decided to try to take the child to a local hospital herself, said Ian Durkee with Mill Creek Police.

“They never arrived at any local hospital, either in Snohomish County or in King County,” Durkee said. “At this point we don’t know where they’re at and that’s why we’re trying to locate them.”

“She was transported by an aunt and the aunt is no longer with her. She was allegedly dropped off at a hospital but that hospital has had no contact with her, so we don’t know of any vehicle that she might have access too,” Durkee said Friday.

Police had interviewed Martini’s aunt, but said she wasn’t very helpful with the investigation.

It is not immediately clear whether police will file charges against Martini.

Missing Person Florida Mom and Kids Believed Dead

Florida police say a mother and her two young children who had been reported missing are deceased.

Family members contacted police Wednesday and asked for a well-being check on Yessenia Suarez, 28, after not hearing from her, and learning that her two children were not at school, MyFoxOrlando.com reported.

The responding officers reported that Suarez was not at home, nor were her children, who have been identified as Michael Otto, 8, and Thalio Otto, 9, The Orlando Sentinel reported.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Gary Davidson with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office tells MyFoxOrlando.com authorities have determined the three are dead but their bodies have not been located.

“The search for the victims’ bodies and the investigation into their deaths is still ongoing, and no one has been charged at this time,” Davidson said.

Police are considering her husband, Luis Toeldo, 31, a possible person of interest in the case.

Authorities were called to the house Tuesday on a report of domestic violence, but Toledo, who is not the father of Suarez’s two children, fled before officers arrived, MyFoxOrlando.com reported.

He allegedly slapped Suarez during an argument at her place of work over text messages he found on her cell phone, The Sentinel reported.

Police arrested Toledo Wednesday when he arrived during the well-being check on charges stemming from Tuesday’s assault. He was booked into the Volusia Country Branch Jail and is being held without bond.

Authorities have located two vehicles belonging to Suarez, one in her driveway and another in the parking lot of a Publix in Lake Mary.

On Thursday, investigators from Volusia County reportedly pulled potential evidence out of dumpsters in Sanford, WFTV.com reported.

Missing Person Robert Charles Lesner of Watsonville, CA

Deputies on Friday asked residents to call 911 if they spot a missing 54-year-old man who has resisted law enforcement officers and requires medication.

Robert Charles Lesner is a dependent adult who went missing from a care facility on the 100 block of Laken Court in Watsonville on Monday, according to Santa Cruz County sheriff’s records.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Lesner has been diagnosed with a developmental disability. About 9 a.m. Tuesday, he was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct near Scotts Valley Drive and Riesling Way, according to arrest records.

Authorities last spotted him when he left Santa Cruz County Jail that day, said Santa Cruz County sheriff’s deputy Ryan Kennedy.

Lesner is 5 feet 11 inches tall and 130 pounds with blue eyes and gray hair. He has a tattoo of a nude woman on his left arm and was last seen wearing a blue pants, a white shirt, a black sweater and a red-and-black beanie.

“If anyone finds Lesner, do not approach him and immediately call 911,” said Kennedy.

Lesner lived in Santa Clara County before July, but he has recently encountered police in Watsonville and Scotts Valley, authorities said.

Lesner has fled from his home on Laken Court about seven times since July, authorities said. He has “a history of destructive behavior, assaultive behavior, alcohol abuse and noncompliance with law enforcement,” Kennedy said.

The evidence continues mounting against the southern Kentucky pastor accused of gunning down three people at a Boyle County business last month.

Identity Theft Smartphone Users Unaware of Threats

Four in ten (40%) smartphone users in the United States agree that they don’t understand cyber security well enough to know how to protect themselves, according to LifeLock.

The online survey, conducted in August by Harris Interactive, asked more than 2,000 smartphone users about their smartphone security habits and assessed their knowledge of and participation in potentially risky behavior.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

Many smartphone users reported sharing data that can leave them susceptible to identity theft and other identity fraud dangers. Users are engaging in several compromising behaviors that may leave them at risk to fraudulent activity:

  • 44% of smartphone users have a personal banking or finance app on their smartphone.
  • 35% of those who have a social networking app on their smartphone allow the app to know the GPS location of their phone when downloading the app.
  • 36% of those surveyed have not utilized protection such as a PIN, tracking software, and/or remote wiping capabilities for their smartphone.

“It’s clear that the majority of those surveyed don’t take simple steps to secure their devices,” said Neil Chase, Vice President of Education with LifeLock. “And it varies with age. The survey found that people ages 18-34 are significantly more likely to use the same password for every app than those who are 35-54, and people 55 and over are even more careful.”

Despite the prevalence of identity theft, users don’t see their smartphones as the biggest risk. Seventy-one percent of users agree that losing their wallet is a bigger risk for identity theft than losing a smartphone. Further, 36% of participants believe they are more likely to have their car stolen than their identity stolen. However, based on an annual survey published by Javelin Strategy & Research, identity fraud affected 12.6 million adult consumers in 2012, while, according to the FBI, fewer than one million cars were stolen in 2012.

LifeLock recommends the following actions to secure a smartphone:

  • Protect the device with a strong password. Do not use date of birth or banking PIN as a password.
  • Do not allow downloaded apps to access GPS location.
  • Ensure all apps use different usernames and passwords.
  • Wipe all personal information from the device before replacing or upgrading.
