Private Detective Aurora, CO PD Offering Award for Attempted Kidnapper

Police are offering $10,000 — the largest reward offered in the history of the department — for information about a man who pulled an 8-year-old girl from her bed in Aurora on Monday morning.

The kidnapping was described as “bold and brazen” by Aurora police, who said the incident took place near the intersection of E. 16th Avenue and Hanover Street, which is about a mile north of E. Colfax Avenue, around 12:15 a.m.

During a Monday afternoon news conference Chief Dan Oates said investigators are treating the case “extremely seriously.”

“There is a predator out there,” Oates said. “He needs to be caught and stopped.” Scroll down to see the officials Aurora Police crime bulletin.

Police said the kidnapper parked a vehicle in the alley behind the girl’s home. He removed the screen door from the window, opened the girl’s unlocked window and grabbed her from her bed, police said.

He brought her back out of the window, through the backyard and into the alley, police said.

The man might have gotten away with the girl as well, police said, had she not started screaming. That alerted her parents as well as several other neighbors in the area.

“This young girl immediately cried out. Immediately put up a fuss and struggle,” Oates said.

At that point, police said the girl’s father came sprinting into the alley, where he found the girl alone.

The man ran away, got into an older-model BMW and drove out of the alley, onto E. 16th Avenue, and headed west.

Police said the man was white, had blond hair and was wearing a dark jacket.  He had the distinct odor of cigarette smoke.

Oates said the girl had been cooperative with police and helped them develop a composite sketch of a suspect, which they expected to be released soon.

The 8-year-old girl was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, but was back at home in bed by 5 a.m.

Oates said police contacted the superintendent of Aurora Public Schools and parents of children in the area would likely get a message with safety tips for children.

If you have any information about this attempted kidnapping, you’re being urged to contact Detective Christine Hurley at 303-739-6113. You can also remain anonymous by sending tips to Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Missing Person Brad Cook Still Missing

Have you seen this man? Twenty-two-year-old Brad Cook vanished from the home he shares with his sister over a week ago. He reportedly left behind his cellphone and wallet, which is indicative of a couple of things — but none of them necessarily positive when it comes to a missing person, especially one that has been missing longer than the golden window of 48 to 72 hours.

When a missing person “leaves behind” their wallets, cellphones, money or other identifying items, it indicates that they are not intending on being gone very long. However, it could also be indicative of foul play from the beginning, but it’s far too early in the case to question whether or not those who live in the home with him are being honest.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

His family says it’s abnormal for him to be missing like this, and it was abnormal for him to park his motorcycle unlocked in public places. Someone was seen parking his bike at a strip mall about 10 minutes after he was last seen by his family, but it’s not known if it was him or not. Nobody ever returned to the bike and Brad hasn’t been located.

Could Brad Cook be the victim of a homicide? It’s extremely likely, being that young men are more likely to be victims of violent crime than women. He could have been part of a robbery gone wrong, or he could have been the target of random crime. He is described as being an “Eagle Scout” (former I am sure, considering he is 22), so it’s hard to speculate on whether or not he would have been involved in any shady doings such as drugs or other seedy behaviors.

So for now, his disappearance is a mystery. He isn’t known to be deppressed and didn’t reportedly take any of his guns with him. His bank has shown no activity since his disappearance. With all of the evidence being what it is so far, it looks like this young man is dead. But where is he?

Brad

Accident Reconstruction Two women thrown from truck in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Police say a passerby happened on a wreck around five Sunday evening. A small pickup was found on the side of the exit ramp at mile marker 115 on the northbound side of I-75. When help arrived, police say the scene wasn’t good.

“A small truck left the roadway ejecting two adult females,” said Lt. Sam Murdock, of the Lexington Police, “One of the occupants had life-threatening injuries, the other had very serious physical injuries.”

The pickup was heading toward Newtown Pike, and a look at the damage suggests a hard impact as one tire is completely torn off and debris was scattered around.

http://liarcatchers.com/accident_reconstruction.html

The ramp was closed off for hours as investigators worked to sort the clues about the crash.

“What they’ll do is go through the whole scene forensically and try and gather information to determine what were some of the contributing the factors,” explained Lt. Murdock.

A lot of details aren’t being released, at this time, because the details are still being uncovered. Police say there weren’t any witnesses at the scene, so they’re now asking for help.

“We’re asking that if anybody observed this accident or has any more information to contact the division of police,” said Lt. Murdock.

Police say the victim with the more serious injuries was stabilized at UK Hospital, but is still in critical condition.

Two people are behind bars after investigators say they stabbed a man to death and then tried hiding his body underneath this abandoned trailer.

Police have arrested 21-year-old Andrea Byler and 52-year-old Michael Thompson. Police believe the two killed 19-year-old Jimmy Sidwell.

“They has received a call from a male who stated he was working in a yard and thought he saw a body close to an abandoned trailer on another property on an adjoining property,” says Trooper William Gregory with Kentucky State Police.

Investigators tell LEX 18 this wasn’t a random act, they say the suspects knew the victim but aren’t releasing the kind of relationship they had.

While Sidwell was never reported missing, police say the last time anyone saw him was on Wednesday.

Byler and Thompson are at the Clinton County Jail, both have been charged with murder.

Missing Person Husband of Missing Florida Mom Attempts Suicide

The sole person of interest in the disappearance of a missing Florida mother and her two young children attempted suicide while in custody, police said.

Luis Toledo, 31, tried to commit suicide in Volusia County Jail in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Saturday by ramming his head into a bathroom mirror and then using the glass to cut himself, according to ABC News’ Orlando affiliate WFTV-TV. He was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Toledo is the lone person of interest in the disappearance of his wife, Yessenia Suarez, and her children.

Suarez, 28, of Deltona, Fla., her eight-year-old son, Michael Otto, and her nine-year-old daughter, Thalia Otto, have been missing since Tuesday, according to a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Hours before she was last seen, Suarez was involved in a domestic dispute with Toledo, Volusia County Sheriff’s officials said. Toledo allegedly slapped Suarez at her job, angry over a possible separation as well as text messages he found on his wife’s phone.

Toledo “caused a disturbance, battered her and then fled the scene,” Volusia County Sheriff spokesman Brandon Haught told ABC News.

He was arrested at his home on a domestic battery charge, according to jail records. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Wednesday, where he is being held without bond.

On Thursday, law enforcement officials confirmed that the missing mother and her two children are dead, but their bodies had not been found, a news release said.

Police combed through a local landfill and dumpsters for the family’s bodies. Suarez’ abandoned car was found in a grocery store parking lot in nearby Lake Mary, Fla., WFTV-TV reported.

Meanwhile, Suarez’ family is coping with the loss of their daughter and grandchildren.

“My hope is with the guy up there,” Suarez’s father, Emilio Suarez said. “I’ve been praying a lot. I hope my daughter will show up with my grandkids.”

Wrongful Death Body Found in Bullit County

Investigators are looking into a body found just south of the Jefferson County line in Bullitt County after police determined the death was a possible homicide.

The Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a body in the 3000 block of Weavers Run Road Saturday at about 4:15 p.m. When officers arrived they found the victim down a hill in the area and determined the incident to be a possible homicide, the sheriff’s office said in a release. That section of Weavers Run Road is about a mile east of Dixie Highway.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Based on information found at the scene and a subsequent investigation by the Bullitt County Criminal Investigation Division, it appears the victim was killed somewhere else and dumped at the location in Bullitt County, the release said.

Bullitt County initially said Louisville Metro Police Homicide detectives would be handling the case but LMPD said Sunday the investigation would be headed by the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office.

No other information about the homicide investigation was available Sunday
