Wrongful Death Pastor Indicted in Triple Murder

The Boyle County circuit clerk’s office confirmed Tuesday that Kenneth Allen Keith, the pastor at a Pulaski County church, has been indicted on three counts of murder, one count of burglary, and one count of robbery in a triple murder case from last month.

Keith is accused of shooting and killing Mike and Angela Hockensmith along with their client, Daniel Smith, on September 20 inside the couple’s Danville store, ABC Gold, Games and More.

Keith, who owned a different business at the same location until this summer, was arrested about three weeks after the shootings. He appeared in court last Wednesday for video arraignment, and entered a not guilty plea to the charges.

A judge decided Keith would not be granted bond due to the serious nature of the crime. Keith is scheduled to be in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.

Missing Person Car Found Belonging to Chicago Teen

New developments were announced in the case of a missing Metro East woman who left her one-year-old child behind and has not been heard from in weeks.

Police in a suburb of Chicago found the vehicle that Taila Sayles, 18, was driving. It was badly damaged but there were no signs of her.

Family members filed a missing person’s report on October 7 when she didn’t come back to her East St. Louis home in her mother’s gold Ford Escape.  She left to take her cousin home but never returned.

Members of her family say it’s not like her to leave her infant son behind.

On Monday, police from Riverside, called Sayles’ mother to say they found her car with all the windows busted out but no sign of her daughter.

Family members are unaware of any friends Sayles may have had in the Chicago area.

“Now we really believe there may be something else going on other than her just leaving home. There were no issues with her, no problems with her family, nothing of that nature,” said Chief Michael Floore with the East St. Louis Police Department.

Police say there are recent tweets on Sayles’ Twitter account and one of them indicates she may have been held against her will but family members can’t be sure she is the one posting the tweets.

Anyone who knows any information about the whereabouts of Sayles is asked to call the East St. Louis Police Department.

Arson Investigation Winchester Home Fire

A suspicious fire burned through a vacant Winchester house early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded to the home on Winn Avenue when neighbors spotted the fire around 12:15 a.m. Firefighters say flames were shooting out of the windows when they arrived. It took about an hour to get the fire under control. There were no injuries, but firefighters say the house sustained significant damage.

Officials say the home was boarded up after a fire about 12 years ago. There was no power hooked up. They called the fire suspicious and said fire investigators will take a closer look at the scene during the day Tuesday to try to determine the exact cause.

Wrongful Death Teacher Dead After School Shooting in Nevada

A teacher was shot dead and two students were wounded when a student opened fire at a middle school in the northern Nevada city of Sparks on Monday before taking his own life, law enforcement officials said.

Both of the wounded students from Sparks Middle School were listed in critical condition at Renown Regional Medical Center in nearby Reno, where one of them had undergone emergency surgery, said Tom Miller, acting Sparks police chief.

“A kid started getting mad and he pulled out a gun and shoots my friend, one of my friends at least,” a seventh-grade student identified as Andrew told local KOLO-TV. “And then he walked up to a teacher and says back up, the teacher started backing up and he pulled the trigger.”

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“The teacher was just lying there and he was limp, he didn’t know what to do, he was just in a lot of pain,” Andrew told

KOLO.

“And me and five other friends went to him and said come on we’ve got to get him to safety. We picked him up, carried him a little bit far and we left him because our vice principal came along and said go, go, go get to safety, get to safety. So we left the teacher there and we went to safety,” he said.

The incident marked the latest in a string of shooting rampages across the United States in recent years, some of them at schools, that have reignited a national debate over gun control.

In Connecticut last December, 20 students and six adults were shot to death by a gunman at a school in Newtown before the attacker took his own life in what is considered one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history.

“It’s a tragic day for the city of Sparks,” Mayor Geno Martini told a late-morning news conference. “I just want to reiterate again that the city itself is very safe and this is just an isolated incident. But it’s very, very tragic and I’m saddened to be here to have to tell you this.”

Law enforcement officials said the student gunman opened fire at 7:16 a.m. local time, about 15 minutes before classes were scheduled to begin at the school, which serves seventh and eighth grade students.

“Students are arriving, buses are arriving … Kids are congregating out back to play sports or waiting for the first bell to ring. The bell rings at 7:30,” said Mike Mieras, Washoe County School District police chief.

They said it was too early to tell if the boy, who was not immediately identified by authorities, was targeting anyone in the shooting rampage. They declined to speculate on his motives pending further investigation.

Classes at the middle school and a neighboring elementary school were canceled and authorities said counselors would be on hand to work with students and staff members who were traumatized by the shooting.

“My administration is receiving regular updates and the Nevada Highway Patrol is assisting at the scene,” Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval said in a statement.
