Pedophile Tracking Olathe, KS Man Admits to Possessing Child Pornography

A 45-year-old Olathe man, who authorities said stored more than 12,000 digital images and 26 videos of child pornography, pleaded guilty Monday to a single federal charge, according to federal prosecutors.

Authorities said James Christmas pleaded guilty to one count of possessing child pornography.

The case surfaced in September 2010 when Christmas’ estranged wife alerted Olathe police that she found child pornography on computer media belonging to Christmas. Investigators later obtained a search warrant and discovered the pictures.

Insurance Fraud Lexington, MI Woman Falsely Claimed Cancer Diagnosis

A 38-year-old Sanilac County woman is facing six felony charges related to falsely claiming a cancer diagnosis in order to receive insurance funds, according to police.

Sara Ylen, of Lexington, was arraigned in 73rd District Court on Monday, May 6, after a yearlong investigation into her health care claims, said a press release from the Michigan State Police Caro Post.

Charges against Ylen include four felony counts of false pretenses, using a computer to commit a crime, and health care fraud.

http://liarcatchers.com/insurance_fraud.html

According to MSP, officials began their investigation after a person familiar with Ylen contacted police regarding a fundraiser held for her in May 2012.

Ylen had received hospice care in 2009, 2010, and 2011, according to police, while first claiming a cancer diagnosis in 2005. The investigation uncovered that none of Ylen’s doctors had ever made a cancer diagnosis.

A Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan investigation was also conducted, after the insurance agency received a complaint from Mercy Hospice. MSP reported that the agency had paid a total of over $94,000 for Ylen’s hospice care.

The Sanilac County arrest comes after Ylen was arrested in St. Clair County on charges of tampering with evidence and reporting a false felony in connection with a sexual assault, according to the Times Herald.

In 2003, James Grissom was convicted of sexually assaulting Ylen in a Meijer parking lot in 2001 but he was released from jail in November 2012, after new evidence and false allegations of sexual assault made by Ylen came to light in three states.

Ylen’s story involving the alleged 2001 sexual assault was featured on a TV episode of Oxygen’s Captured, according to the show’s website.

Bond for Ylen, in Sanilac County, was set at $10,000 by Judge Greg Ross. A preliminary examination in the case has been set for May 16.

Ylen is also awaiting arraignment in St. Clair County, which is scheduled for May 22.

Missing Person Body of Kasie Clary Found

As of late night May 5, 2013 it’s been confirmed that Kasie Clary is no longer missing. The decomposing body that was located on Saturday in Northern Hill County, Tex. was positively identified as the missing 23-year-old woman after several hours. Kasie was supposedly murdered, according to her mother who shared this heartbreaking news just hours ago on the official Facebook page associated with this case.

There aren’t many other details to report as this is still a developing story not yet to fully take place in media reports. But the mother of the once-missing woman claims that she was murdered. She said the following:

“I’m also angry as I’ve ever been in my life and I will not rest until the person/persons responsible have been brought to justice.”

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

So how was Kasie Clary killed? Her remains were not visually recognizable when they were discovered recently, so it’s likely that further testing will be needed to determine a definitive cause of death in her case. In the meantime, there is plenty of room for speculation regarding who would want to harm this beautiful young woman. Was she involved in any shady lifestyle choices such as drug dealing, prostitution or anything related? Was she entangled in a violent relationship? There are a wide number of questions that could be asked.

The Hillsborough Reporter shares more information about her case that answers some of the aforementioned questioned. She had reportedly been out of touch with family since April 28th, and was supposedly last sighted the following day with someone believed to be her boyfriend. That car was later found abandoned near the Waco area. So it’s apparent that she was at least involved with a male somehow. Whether or not he was her boyfriend is up to reports to later clarify. Could he be the person who murdered her?

Missing Person North Richland Hills, TX Teen Back Home

The North Richland Hills teen missing for more than a week before being located in Mexico is now back safe with her family here in North Texas. According to NRH police Ruby Contreras, 14, was reunited with her family Friday night.

From the couch in her living room, Ruby says she’s happy to be home and made a mistake that she will not make again. “Do not talk to strangers at all. I mean, I was basically brainwashed by him. So…obligated. So, I didn’t have much of a choice.”

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Police now confirm Ruby met her accused abductor, Stephan Cox, on a social media website. Officials say the 26-year-old man somehow got Ruby to agree to leave her family and go with him. Cox, who was facing charges for improper contact with another 14-year-old in Ohio, met Ruby near North Oaks Middle School in Haltom City.

“He definitely enticed her to leave and had taken a bus from Ohio to meet her down at school. Got her from school, they went to the bus station in Fort Worth and went out to El Paso,” North Richland Hills police investigator Keith Bauman explained.

The pair later walked across the Mexican border into Juarez.

On May 1, a surveillance photo of the missing teen and Cox was released showing the two at a convenience store in Abilene. One day later North Richland Hills police announced that the two had been found in Mexico.

Suspect Cox has also returned to Texas. He was arrested on Kidnapping charges and remains in police custody in El Paso, where he awaits extradition back to North Texas.

NRH police said Ruby’s safe return was due in part to extensive media coverage from North Texas to Mexico and the work of several law enforcement agencies — including the Texas Rangers, FBI, and U.S. Marshals Service.

Identity Theft 4 Chicago Women Arrested

While boarding a flight around 8 pm Friday at the O’Hare airport for what would have likely been a fun-filled Las Vegas vacation, four Chicago women were detained.

Cook County court documents state the troop – Latonya T. Darwish, 37, Saunsierica L. Duncan, 19, Mahogany R. Banks, 21, and Tabitha A. Harris, 36 – were all arrested and charged with identity theft.

Darwish, Duncan, and Banks all face identity theft charges, while Harris faces a charge of aggravated identity theft, according to the Chicago Tribune. In 2004, Congress enacted the Identity Theft Penalty Enhancement Act, which increased criminal penalties for identity theft.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

The crime of “aggravated identity theft” refers to using stolen identification for crimes beyond the realm of standard identity theft, including terrorism.

Aggravated identity theft offenses carry a mandatory sentence enhancement of two years, and identity theft related to terrorism carries an additional five-year penalty. These penalties are added to standard related sentences.

The tickets for the trip had been purchased using a stolen Discover card. At the time of their arrest, each were in possession of stolen identification, credit cards, other counterfeit IDs, and a set of car keys reported stolen from a Hertz rental car in Georgia.

During their bond hearing, Darwish was ordered to be held in lieu of a $75,000 bond; Duncan was ordered held on a $25,000 bond; and Banks and Harris were ordered held in lieu of a $40,000 bond and $50,000 bond.

The investigation is still ongoing by the Chicago police’s division of financial crimes.
Identity theft, which has been on the rise, is the action of stealing someone’s identity. The perpetrator pretends to be someone else by assuming that person’s identity in order to access resources, such as obtaining credit and other benefits in that person’s name.

Identity theft occurs when someone uses another’s personally identifying information – name, social security number, and credit card number – without the true persons’ permission in order to commit fraud or other crimes.

The victim – the person whose identity has been assumed by the thief – can suffer adverse consequences and be held financially accountable for the perpetrator’s actions. Several free and monthly fee services have since been made available to monitor and protect one’s identity, and laws are continuously being established in hopes of adequately penalizing offenders.

Authorities recommend frequently checking credit reports as well as using the aforementioned tracking tools with alerts. Passwords on online accounts should be periodically changed and documents with personal information should be shredded or burned if not needed. Avoid giving out personal information in situations that are unnecessary or over the phone to people claiming to be from financial or federal agencies.

In the US, people ages 18 to 24 are the highest group at risk. One in 10 US consumers have experienced some type of identity theft. Nearly 38 percent of victims have had a credit card or debit card number stolen, and 48 percent of theft is the result of a stolen wallet or illegally accessed paperwork or account information. Approximately 12 percent of ID theft victims ultimately have warrants issued for their arrest for crimes committed in their names, reports Identity Hawk.

On average, a victim can spend 330 hours and more than $1,000 to clear his/her name while repairing credit. More than 32 percent of victims spend up to six months dealing with creditors – writing letters, making phone calls, and signing affidavits.

For victims of identity theft, the ordeal manifests itself in all sorts of horrible, stressful ways as 70 percent experience little success removing the fraudulent information from their credit report. Nearly 11 percent have an impaired ability to find employment due to the negative impact to their credit. If not upsetting enough, 13 percent know the person who criminally assumed their identity – whether it was a relative, friend, or co-worker.

Missing Person Body of Medford Man Missing Since Dec. Found

Medford police believe they’ve found the body of Truman Tollefson, an 87-year-old man who has been missing since December.

Tollefson was last seen on the evening of Dec. 5, when family says he went to run some errands but never returned. He was driving his silver 1981 Buick Century 4-door sedan.

On Sunday morning, a Rogue River resident called police after he found the missing man’s vehicle with an apparent deceased person lying nearby.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Detectives from the Medford Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to mile marker 9 of Upper Grave Creek Road, a remote area outside of Rogue River.

Detectives say the vehicle does in fact belong to Tollefson.

Investigators believe the body is Tollefson, however, a positive identification has not yet been made at this time. The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office will be working on identifying the body later this week.

Police think the vehicle became stuck when it tried to turn around at a dead end portion of Upper Grave Creek. Then, detectives say the driver probably got out of the vehicle and died nearby. They say there is no evidence of foul play.

The witness who found the vehicle was in the area to cut firewood and had to remove a fallen tree which had blocked the road.
