Pedophile Tracking GA Teen Accused in Child Sex Sting Faked Death

Prosecutors in Panama City are seeking to revoke the bond of a Georgia teen who officials believe faked his death and traveled to Denver.

According to court records in Bay County, on April 22, a fisherman found a pile of clothes and a suicide note along the bank of the Little River in Brooks County, Ga., which is on the Florida-Georgia line. Investigators say Nathan Wilkins, 19, turned up in Aurora, Colo., three days later.

The News Herald of Panama City (http://bit.ly/10Uwb7U ) reported that Wilkins was due in court on Monday from charges stemming from his arrest on sex charges in June. It is unclear whether Wilkins has returned from Colorado.

Assistant State Attorney Christa Diviney said that Wilkins violated his bond by leaving his home without notifying the court or his bondsman.

Wilkins was charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex, computer pornography and child exploitation. He was arrested during Operation Riptide, a multi-agency sting operation that officials say was designed to lure men interested in having sex with children.

Wilkins responded to a Craigslist ad from a man looking for someone to help his 11-year-old daughter lose her virginity, according to court records. The person Wilkins exchanged emails with asked him to bring a slushy for the child.

Police said Wilkins arrived at the predetermined location with a slushy. But the father and child weren’t waiting for him. Instead, officers representing the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force were waiting. Wilkins and 11 other men were arrested as part of the sex sting.

Pedophile Tracking Calif. Man Sentenced in Alabama

An ex-Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department employee has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for attempted child enticement and distributing child pornography, U.S. Attorney’s officials said Tuesday.

Mark Robin Rainwater, 46, flew from California to Birmingham in October to have sex with two young boys, according to Peggy Sanford, spokeswoman for the Northern District of Alabama.

Rainwater, a 14-year department veteran, worked in the information technology division and began communicating with an undercover police officer over the Internet, email, and text messages. Rainwater thought he was communicating with a parent who was willing to let him have sex with two boys, ages 13 and 8.

Rainwater was arrested at the Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport. Authorities found sex toys and children’s toys in his luggage. Officials also found hundreds of videos and more than 4,400 images of child pornography that he stored digitally. Officials say some of the images involved babies, toddlers and young children performing sex acts.

Rainwater pleaded guilty to charges in January and was sentenced Tuesday. He has been ordered to serve 20 years of probation after his prison sentence.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations division and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigated the case.

“Our children deserve every measure of protection we can give them,” District Attorney Joyce Vance said in a statement. “We will use every tool we have to find and stop child predators from abusing and torturing children.”

For the second time in five months, a Gettysburg man is facing multiple charges following an investigation into child pornography and sexual abuse.

Michael Allen Orner, 28, was taken into custody today by state police in Gettysburg and members of the Computer Crimes Task Force.

Their most-recent investigation revealed that Orner coerced, through use of physical force or threats, eight victims under the age of 18 to take pictures and video of themselves posing naked in sexually explicit positions.

According to police, he also had over 50,000 images and movie files depicting child pornography on his computer in two folders: one labeled “under 12,” the other, “under 18.”

Authorities say Orner threatened to publicly post naked pictures of a 14-year-old victim unless she met him for oral sex. He was aware of her age, police report.

Orner was arraigned today and subsequently committed to the Adams County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Officials charged Orner with 10 counts of sexual abuse of children/possession of child pornography; 8 counts of unlawful contact with minors; 8 counts of corruption of minors; 8 counts of photographing, videotaping, depicting on computer or filming sexual acts; and 1 count of involuntary deviant sexual intercourse.

Missing Person Jeffrey Woodruff of Saugatuck, MI

The Jessica Heeringa case is overshadowing another missing person case along the Lakeshore. Jeffrey Woodruff hasn’t been seen since late Saturday night at Wally’s Bar in Saugatuck, and a number of family members and friends from the Saginaw Bay community of Pinconning made the three-hour drive last night to personally comb the Saugatuck-Douglas area, looking for the 25-year-old man.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Woodruff is described as a clean-cut, 5-6, 140-pound, muscular Caucasian man with a Celtic tattoo on his back. His brother Jordan said that Jeffrey’s cell phone was found in a park near the Hoffman Street tavern, and added that there are no signs of frustration over the Heeringa case diverting attention from this situation.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Michigan State Police, who is in charge of the search, or Silent Observer.

Private Detective Covington Man Sentenced to More Than 59 Years for Kidnapping

A Kenton County man convicted last December of kidnapping, armed bank robbery, and firearm offenses was sentenced to 711 months in federal prison.

U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves sentenced 40-year-old Joseph Weir on Monday for kidnapping, brandishing a firearm in furtherance of kidnapping, armed bank robbery, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of bank robbery. Judge Reeves also ordered Weir to pay $1,492.75 in restitution. Under federal law, Weir must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Weir was indicted in March 2012 and convicted in two separate trials in December 2012.

Evidence at the first trial showed that on May 31, 2011, Weir kidnapped a 75-year-old patron of the Crestview Town Center by threatening her with a knife and a .357 caliber handgun. After forcing his way into the victim’s car, he took her purse and attempted to access her bank accounts.

Weir eventually transported the victim to a remote area near Cleves, Ohio. He then used his knife to cut the victim’s sweater into pieces and used them to gag and tie her to a tree near the bank of the East Miami River. Weir abandoned the victim there and took her car back to Kentucky, leaving it near his Covington residence. The victim freed herself from the tree and eventually found assistance at a nearby road. She suffered minor injuries.

In the other trial, evidence revealed that Weir robbed the Huntington Bank at Sixth and Madison in Covington of $900 on December 5, 2011. He entered the bank, concealing a .380 caliber handgun in his coat, and passed a note to the teller threatening to shoot. After fleeing the bank with the money, Weir hid the jacket, shoes, and eyeglasses he wore during the robbery. Officers recovered the items near the bank and linked them to Weir using surveillance video and witness statements.

Kerry B. Harvey, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Perrye Turner, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, jointly announced the sentence.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, the Covington Police Department, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lakeside Park/Crestview Hills Police Department. The U.S. Attorney’s Office was represented in the case by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tony Bracke and Elaine Leonhard.

Pedophile Tracking Former Pike County, OH Deputy Pleads No Contest

A former chief deputy for the Pike County Sheriff’s Office pleaded no contest Monday to a single count of gross sexual imposition.

The entire week had been set aside for Clyde Franklin Sanders Jr.’s trial on child sex abuse charges. Sanders, who worked under former Sheriff Larry Travis, faced two counts of kidnapping, one count of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition, all first-degree felonies.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The charge Sanders pleaded to Monday is a third-degree felony and he faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Because of Sanders’ former position in Pike County, the case had special prosecutors assigned from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Retired Ross County Judge Jhan Corzine also had been appointed to preside over the case.

Because Sanders entered the plea, a presentence investigation was ordered. However, prosecutors declined to comment on the case. A date has yet to be set for sentencing.

According to the indictment, the gross sexual imposition charge stems from an alleged October 2008 encounter with a 3-year-old girl Sanders knew. The rape charge, which is dropped as a condition of the plea agreement, had alleged another encounter with the same child in January 2009.

In December 2011, Corzine had ruled that the victim — who was 6 at the time of the hearing — was competent to testify and left Sanders under house arrest.
