Wrongful Death Three Plead Guilty to Manslaughter

A mother and two grandparents plead guilty to letting an 18-year-old boy die from severe neglect.

Jamie Bishop along with Raymond and Sharon Martin all plead guilty to manslaughter in court Thursday.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

The court says all three neglected the boy for so long that when he got to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, his bed sores were so bad that bone was exposed.

The boy later died at the hospital.

All three will be formally sentenced in July.

Missing Person Piseth Chhay, San Francisco Uber Driver

A San Francisco man, missing since Mother’s Day, is now considered a victim of foul play and police believe the suspect is someone he knew and trusted.

Piseth Chhay, 48, is a full-time Uber driver and early on, people wondered if that was somehow connected to his disappearance. A person of interest’s car in this case was located at SFO Airport as the SFPD Special Victims Unit continues to investigate. Search warrants have been issued in the cities of Hayward and San Francisco.

Late Wednesday, SFPD identified Chhay’s acquaintance, 48-year-old Bob Tang of San Francisco, as a person-of-interest in their investigation.

“I would like you to return my husband, ” Chhay’s wife, Rattana Kim, implored to KTVU while addressing Tang directly.   “He has a family to come home to, and I’m begging of you, in your heart, to release him.”

Kim says she knew on May 14, when her Chhay didn’t return from seeing Tang, that something bad had happened, because her husband of 20 years would never abandon her and their sons, 8 and 11.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

“It’s hell. That’s the only word I can describe right now,” Kim told KTVU.  “I feel like I woke up without soul, there’s no spirit in me.”

During early searches, and friends and family posted missing flyers around the city, speculation swirled around whether Chhay’s ride-sharing job was somehow linked to his disappearance.

He wasn’t working the day he vanished, but a recent passenger had left  a phone in his car, and tracked him down. There was talk of a possible meet-up with a stranger.

Then, on Saturday, Chhay’s Mercedes SUV was found stripped to its chassis in the Bayview district.

Police now say the vehicle was towed to the intersection where it was found, from another place in the neighborhood.

“We’re not completely ruling out homicide, but we’re not going to say it is,” said SFPD Office Grace Gatpandan, explaining to reporters why police have zeroed in on Tang.

“Foul play is suspected because we did have an interview scheduled with Mr. Tang yesterday, and he did not show up for that interview. And there is a connection between the two.”

Rattana Kim says the two families have been acquainted for about six years, meeting through mutual friends.

“We picnic, we do hiking, we do parties, especially for Halloween, New Years, all the time, there’s no sign of animosity between them,” Kim observed.  “I don’t know why he would want to hurt my husband. I wish I knew, they seemed to be friends.”

Police have searched several properties of Tangs, including a warehouse in the Bayview, and another location in Antioch, searches that confirmed their suspicions.

“At this point, we have obtained evidence that might lead us to the location of Mr. Chhay and exactly what happend,” said San Francisco Police Officer Grace Gatpandan.

The day Chhay drove away from his home, he said he was going to help Tang with some of his rental units.        “We knew his friend owns apartment buildings,” Chhay’s cousin Sovanarath Chi told KTVU.    “He thought he was going there to help, fix stuff up, but we heard he never showed up and was never heard from again.”

That was apparently Bob Tang’s version of events, until he dropped out of sight.  Police believe he has fled to Cambodia.   SFPD is working with the FBI to track him down as a fugitive. Police described Tang as an Asian male, 48 years old, about 5’4″ and 130 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. His car is a 2004 silver Toyota Sienna SUV, with California license plate 5JOT221.

Chhay’s wife says she is trying to remain optimistic.  Even as the case turns more ominous, she reassures their sons, they will see their father again.

“In my heart, my husband’s still alive. And he’s out there somewhere . He is out there somewhere, and he has to come home.”

Anyone who has seen Tang or Chhay or has any information regarding their whereabouts is asked to contact San Francisco police via the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444, or text a tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the

beginning of the message.

Wrongful Death Son Looking For Answers In Father’s Death

The son of a hit and run victim said he won’t stop seeking closure, even if it takes decades.

Seven years ago, Robert Luther was hit and killed when his car broke down on I-64 in Rowan County. He was on his way back from his son’s graduation.

Now, in a search for answers, his son Ryan spends the anniversary on the same corner near exit 137. Looking like a panhandler, Luther’s sign tells his father’s story. Instead of asking for money, Luther asks for information.

“Every cold case deserves answers,” Luther said. “at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.”

Seven years later, Ryan Luther is no closer to knowing who is responsible.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“If you continue searching, you’ll find your answers,” He said “When you give up, the answers aren’t there.”

Luther said he once wanted justice. After years of searching for answers, his feelings have changed.

“It was a mistake seven years ago,” Luther explained. “I just want to hug someone and know that my void is gone.”

To find that, Ryan continues to return to the same corner, sharing his father’s story with the hope of some type of closure.

“I’m looking at 7 years,” He said. “I may be back doing this same thing 70 years from now.”

Missing Person National Missing Children’s Day

After a teenage girl was reported missing in Virginia earlier this year, the FBI and police worked quickly to reunite her with her family and arrest the man who’d lured her away.

Unfortunately, not all lost children are found quickly, and some never make it home. On National Missing Children’s Day, the FBI asks the public for help in locating any of the victims pictured here from our Kidnapping and Missing Persons webpage.

With its partners, the FBI continues its efforts to eradicate predators from communities and to keep children safe. Ready response teams are stationed across the country to quickly respond to abductions. The Bureau offers a full array of forensic tools such as DNA, trace evidence, impression evidence, and digital forensics. And through improved communications, law enforcement also has the ability to quickly share information with partners throughout the world.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

The FBI also has several programs in place to educate both parents and children about the dangers posed by predators—in person and online—and to recover missing and endangered children should they be taken. Through the Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Teams, Innocence Lost National Initiative, Innocent Images National Initiative, annual Operation Cross Country, Office for Victim Assistance, Child Exploitation Task Forces, and numerous community outreach initiatives, the FBI and law enforcement partners are working to keep the most vulnerable among us safe and secure.

Private Detective: Former Girl Scout Leader To Be Arraigned in Cookie Theft

A Floyd County woman will be arraigned after being accused of stealing from her Girl Scout troop earlier in the year.

Leah Ann Vick, 27, of Auxier was charged with theft by unlawful taking after police say she stole nearly $20,000 dollars worth of Girl Scout cookies from the Wilderness Road Chapter that she lead.

The alleged crime took place between Feb.1 and March of this year.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

She was picked up a week ago in Clark County and admitted to stealing 6,250 boxes. Even though the cookies will be recovered, the Girl Scouts of America say they can no longer sell them as they can not verify the integrity of the boxes.

“They could be damaged or tampered with,” Haleigh McGraw, Marketing Director of the Wilderness Road Girl Scouts told East Kentucky Broadcasting.

People can donate to the troop here. You can also designate what you would like your donation to go towards.
