Private Detective: Wheelchair Ramp Stolen From Home

A wheelchair ramp was swiped right from a Lexington couple’s front door.

Sharon Wells loves sitting outside this time of year alongside her husband who is confined to a wheelchair.

“Even with the two steps, it’s not easy to take a wheelchair down two steps,” said Wells.

That’s why they bought a wheelchair ramp for their door. But for now, he’s stuck inside because of a problem Sharon realized when she returned from a shopping trip.

“The first thing that I noticed when I pulled up is I no longer have a wheelchair ramp,” said Wells.

She says someone walked up to her door, and stole the aluminum ramp.

“I guess somebody needed it worse than we did,” said Wells.

Both Sharon and her husband are retired on disability, so the $150 it costs to buy a new ramp are hard to come by.

“Very disturbing knowing that my husband was here by himself, and him being handicapped. Them being so close to my doors in broad daylight and taking something like that,” said Wells.

She did call the police, who filed a report and said they’d be on the lookout for the ramp.

“Just whoever took it, I wish you would return it,” said Wells. “I mean, I don’t understand people anymore.”

Wrongful Death Man Shoots Wife and Calls 911

A Laurel County man shoots his wife in the face and surprisingly to some, calls 911 himself.

Ernest Chumbley’s wife was suffering terribly from cancer, and he said she wanted to die.

To avoid murder conviction and possible life sentence, Chumbley plead guilty to manslaughter.

Now, behind prison walls, he’s locked away for 15 years for what he calls “love.”

When asked if he did the right thing, he said yes. He takes full responsibility.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Responsibility for ending his wife’s pain, which is what he said she asked him to do.

However, police have a different story. They said he was weary or angry of his wife’s medical problems, and shot her three times on August 28th.

“I don’t think it’s a crime really,” he said.

Ginny Mae, his wife, had battled cancer since 2006.

“It come back and it come back, as they say, on a vengeance. Brain, lung and bone,” Chumbley said.

He remembers the night he killed his wife.

“Talking and watching Netflix, and we got to talking about her pain. She asked me to do something,” he said. “That’s what I did.”

The Chumbleys’ story spread to other states, even a few other countries. To some proponents of the “right to die” — when a terminal patient chooses when to stop living — Chris is a victim himself.

“As far as doing something that my wife asked me to do,” he said. “Through good and bad, sickness or health, and that’s the way I look at it now. I held my vow.”

Later, Chumbley’s case was compared to William Dresser’s in 2014. Dresser shot his wife in the chest after a fall left her a quadriplegic. The prosecutor decided not to try him for murder and dismissed all charges.  Dresser and other witnesses said his wife had asked several people to help her die.

But other than Chris, no one ever came forward saying Ginny Mae wanted to die, or asked anyone to end her pain.

Chris said he did the right thing, and he’ll see her again when his own time comes.

“She’ll come to me with open arms.”

During the court case, Ginny’s family didn’t believe Chris and wanted him to feel the full consequences under the law.

The right to die, or mercy killing, is one of the most hotly debated issues in our country.

Wrongful Death Convicted Murderer Bass Webb Given Life Sentence

A man already serving 50 years in prison for murder was given a life sentence for a second murder Thursday.

Bass Webb was found guilty of killing his former girlfriend, Sabrina Vaughn last month. Officials say Vaughn was found dead in Powell County back in 2010.

A jury recommended a life sentence for her death.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Private Detective: Nicholasville Police Searching For Check Into Cash Robber

Nicholasville Police are searching for a man involved in an armed robbery Thursday morning.

The robbery happened at the Check Into Cash just off Imperial Way and the bypass.

Police say a man walked in, pulled a bandana over his face and then threatened the clerk with a gun.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

The woman was not harmed, but police are on the lookout for a getaway vehicle. They say the robber jumped into a car that had a diver waiting inside.

Police say this Check Into Cash keeps their doors locked, but this has happened to the business before.

“Not a high crime area this Check Into Cash has been hit before. Just because of its convenience to the bypass and Main Street and you can be gone out of here fairly quickly,” said Nicholasville Police Sgt. Scott Harvey.

At this point, police they consider the armed man and his driver both suspects in the case.

“She didn’t show up for work, she didn’t drop off her daughter to my other sister like she normally does,” she said. “We’re devastate, we’re devastated, we don’t know what to do. We’ve been praying, when I tell you my sisters and brother have not slept in days. They’ve literally been searching different areas until 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning and then back at it at 6 a.m. We’re devastated.”

The family has been putting up flyers around Mustafa’s house near Cave Creek and Deer Valley Roads in Phoenix. She recently had a child who isn’t even a year old. She’s with Child Protective Services now and her sister suspects foul play.

“It’s not like her,” she said. “She’s not going to pick up and leave her daughter. She’s not going to not show up for work, and she’s not going to leave her purse. if anything, her purse.”

The family says they have been unsuccessful in reaching Mustafa’s boyfriend about her disappearance. Phoenix police say it is an active missing person’s investigation.
