The California Department of Insurance launched an investigation after receiving a referral from an insurance company after the Silvas submitted several auto insurance claims for identical damages.

Henrietta Silva pleaded guilty to one non-reducible felony count of PC550 (a)(2):Knowingly present multiple claims for the same loss or injury, including presentation of multiple claims to more than one insurer, with an intent to defraud.

“Insurance fraud is a multi-billion dollar crime that has real costs to consumers,” Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones said in a statement. “Insurers pass along their losses to policyholders through higher insurance premiums, which means we all pay.”

As of now, police don’t have any leads as to who put the packages at the courthouses.

Fraud Investigation Social Security Attorney Pleads Guilty

Attorney Eric C. Conn has pleaded guilty to charges related to a medical fraud case dealing with social security clients.

Conn was at the center of an 18-count indictment alleging an intricate scheme to fraudulently obtain disability and health care benefits. He pleaded guilty to one count of stealing from the Social Security Administration and one count of bribing a judge.

The disability benefits of over 900 Eastern Kentucky residents represented by Conn were frozen pending a review by the Social Security Administration.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

Conn had been previously accused of improper practice involving his law firm. In October 2013, he was the focus of a Senate investigation. The investigation alleged that Conn wrote medical reports and paid physicians to approve them without conducting a physical exam of the patients. Judge David B. Daugherty was also accused of approving Conn’s cases for Social Security disability payouts without scrutiny, while psychologist Dr. Bradley Adkins is accused of falsifying medical records to secure favorable rulings for Conn’s clients.

Two wrongful death lawsuits were filed against Conn after former clients committed suicide when their benefits were cut off.

Dr. Bradley Adkins and former Judge Daugherty are also charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, three counts of mail fraud, three counts of wire fraud and other charges related.

He faces up to 12 years when sentenced. His sentencing is scheduled to be held in July. The government also seeks $5.75 million in forfeiture.
