DENVER — Friends and family members of a missing Elbert County teenager are saying they believe a dreadlocked man drugged the girl and took her on a bus against her will.
Avery Dawn Workman, 16, was last seen Sunday afternoon at the 16th Street Mall performing stunts with her circus group. A witnesses told Workman’s friends and a family a man with patches on both his overalls and hat grabbed her.
“He has dreadlocks, light brown or blond hair and a little bit of scruff on his face — not like a homeless person, who would have a full beard,” Workman’s friend Jo Petit said. “We believe that he drugged her and put her on a bus against her will. A witness also said the bus was coming to Boulder.”

Based on that tip, Workman’s friends headed to Boulder Tuesday to hand out flyers and look for the missing teen. She is approximately 5-foot-4-inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. She also has a birthmark under her left eye.
Anyone with information is being urged to call police.
