Fraud Investigation 3 Men Arrested in Food Stamp Fraud Investigation

DETROIT — Three market owners who live in Dearborn were arrested and eight markets in three cities were searched over two days in a federal food stamp fraud investigation, authorities announced Friday.

The owners and markets allegedly redeemed U.S. Department of Agriculture Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program, or food stamp, benefits for cash, and allowed food stamps to be exchanged for items like tobacco, liquor, clothing, household appliances and furnishings, which are against federal rules.
