WESTON, Fla. — A 28-year-old South Florida woman has died after hitting her head in the aftermath of a robbery.
Broward Sheriff’s officials said Kimberlyn Clarke was at a truck stop along US Hwy 27 in Weston last week to celebrate Jamaican Night.
Surveillance video shows a group of people were gathered in the parking lot when one suspect sprayed the crowd with pepper spray, causing the crowd to quickly disperse. During the commotion, another suspect grabbed the victim’s gold chain.
Authorities said Clarke was overcome by the pepper spray and fell and hit her head on the rear bumper of a van when the crowd scattered.
She was transported to the hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead Saturday.
Detectives are asking for help identifying the suspect captured on surveillance video.
