The male resident was able to restrain Mills and pushed her outside the residence. The male resident then went back inside his house and locked the door. Mills then reportedly broke several windows out of the door and reached inside to unlock the door. Mills entered the house again but fled after the resident told her that he had called the police. The male resident and the female visitor suffered minor scratches and cuts during the altercation.

A short time later, police located Mills at the Baptist Health hospital where she was being treated for minor injuries incurred when she broke the door windows. After being treated and released, Mills was taken to the Madison County Detention Center and charged with second-degree burglary and two counts of fourth-degree assault..

Madison County Schools confirmed that Mills is a teacher at Kit Carson Elementary.
