Identity Theft 4 Arrested in Sunnyside, WA

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. — Sunnyside police arrested four Lower Valley residents earlier this week and seized 2 pounds of marijuana during an investigation into robbery, drug sales and identity theft.

About 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, gang unit officers, acting on a tip that a 19-year-old Sunnyside man committed a robbery, went to a house in the 1000 block of Decatur Avenue, where they found marijuana throughout the home, said Sgt. Joey Glossen in a news release.

Officers also arrested a 27-year-old Granger woman, a 37-year-old Prosser woman and a 21-year-old Grandview man, while obtaining a search warrant for the house, Glossen said.

Some of those arrested were known to at least associate with gangs, Glossen said.

They were being held at the Sunnyside jail Thursday evening.

During the search, officers found about 2 pounds of marijuana, scales, a gun and documents from a variety of places in Yakima and Benton counties, Glossen said. Many of the documents, including credit cards and forms of identification, were taken in two separate Benton County burglaries just a few hours earlier, he said.

So far, the four people are being investigated for firearm and drug charges, possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit identity theft, Glossen said. Authorities may find additional victims as they continue to investigate, he said.
