FALLS COUNTY – The Falls County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public that they have received reports regarding an identity theft scam recently. The latest target of these scams have been local Bank of America customers.
Officials say the “scammers” attempt to obtain private financial information such as PIN numbers and passwords in an attempt to access bank accounts. These thieves use emails and text messages to obtain the information by appearing to be legitimate bank representatives.
