Deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a 54-year-old man from Redwood City who was last seen Tuesday morning, Oct. 9.
Christopher Ryan is considered at-risk because he needs daily medication for a medical condition.
A statement sent out by the Sheriff’s Office said that Ryan’s sister, Katie Glapzel, reported him missing after she had not heard from him in more than 24 hours. Ryan was last seen around 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday in Redwood City, where he lives.

Glapzel told deputies it is very unusual for Ryan not to keep in contact with his family. Calls to his cell phone had gone unanswered for an extended period of time. Sheriff’s deputies attempted to trace the cell phone with the assistance of AT&T, but since the phone was turned off, a location could not be pinpointed.
At that point, Ryan was immediately entered into the Missing Persons system so that other law enforcement agencies could help keep an eye out for him.
After beginning a search for Ryan, deputies found Ryan’s car on Wednesday, Oct. 10 just after 11:30 p.m. off the side of the road near the junction of highways 280 and 92 in San Mateo County. His cell phone and medication were in the vehicle.
Ryan is Caucasian, 54 years old, approximately 6 feet tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He has blond hair, blue eyes and a medium complexion.
