Missing Person Body Found in Hudson River

STONY POINT — The body of an older man has been discovered in the Hudson River near a car matching the description of one owned by a missing Eastchester man, Frank Forgione, police said this afternoon.

The man, described as between 55 and 65 was spotted shortly before noon about 20 feet off shore near the Jones Point section of Stony Point by photographers taking pictures along the CSX rail line, prompting a large response from police agencies and marine units.

A 1992 black Lexus sedan parked near the site where the body was found matched the description of a vehicle driven by Forgione, an Eastchester resident who hasn’t been seen since late last week.

Forgione, 60, a landscaper, husband and father of two sons, was last seen at 2 a.m. Thursday leaving the Gavi restaurant in Armonk after a dinner with friends, family said.

Stony Point police Lt. Keith Williams said the body has not yet been identified. It appeared that the body had been in the water a day or two, he said

Investigators do not believe the body is that of Eugene Palmer, a 73-year-old man who disappeared into the woods of Harriman State Park more than a month ago after allegedly shooting to death his daughter-in-law.

The body was being taken to the offices of the Rockland medical examiner.

Among the responding agencies were: Stony Point police, the Rockland Sheriff’s Department, New York state park police, the Westchester County helicopter and marine units.
