Arson Investigation More Info on Lexington Woman

There is an update on the Lexington woman accused of attempted murder in a bizarre arson case.

Lamonica Hill is charged with attempted murder, and on Wednesday in court more details were revealed. Hill, 41, burst into tears during her preliminary hearing where investigators laid out the evidence they have in the case against her. She’s charged with arson and attempted murder after a fire at Circle View Apartments.

According to investigators, Hill told them she was dreaming of grilling out and awoke to a fire in her bedroom. Authorities say the story was a lie and that hill actually had an elaborate scheme set up.

In court Wednesday, investigators say Hill sent a suicide note and will to her step mother postmarked the day of the fire. There was also, according to investigators, a text message sent to her ex-boyfriend saying she wanted to kill herself and family because he broke up with her.

Perhaps the most telling testimony came when the investigators talked about what happened after Hill allegedly drugged her son with 20 sleeping pills.

“He indicated that he was awakened by Ms. Hill on top of him, covering his mouth and nose, and that he had to push her off of him,” said Captain Carrie Bowling of the Lexington Fire Department during testimony Wednesday. “He also indicated that he was the one who called 911.”

Hill is due back in court on October 31.
