A New York mother who found two of her children fatally stabbed while in the care of their nanny, kept a detailed blog of her day to day joys of motherhood. She was somewhat of a celebrity among new mothers as a pediatrician writing about everyday life with the kid’s she adored. Marina Krim returned home Thursday evening with her third child expecting to find the nanny with her other two children just getting home from swimming lessons, according to Fox News, Friday, October 26, 2012. What Krim found will tragically change her life forever.

When Krim returned home she found her two young children, Leo, 2, and Lucia, 6, dead from stab wounds in the bathtub. The nanny, 50 years-old Yoselyn Ortega, lay nearby the children with apparent self-inflicted stab wounds. Krim screamed “something happened to my kids,” as she wrapped the nanny’s bleeding neck with a towel. The doorman heard Krim’s cries and called 911. The distraught mother continued crying and screaming after coming home to this horrendous heart wrenching sight.
The nanny is in stable condition in the hospital according to reports Friday morning. It is unclear how long the nanny had been with the family and what transpired in that apartment is under investigation today.
Krim is a pediatrician, who stayed at home with her kids up until a year ago. The blog she kept on her family shared all the events, such as apple picking, vacations and even strolls down Broadway with her kids. She would mark the milestones of her kids with an entry on that blog, such as her now deceased son learning to put words together.
Marina and her husband Kevin were extremely careful when finding a nanny for their kids. Before hiring Marina, they spent nine days with the nanny and her family in the Dominican Republic. Kevin Krim, the children’s father is a CNBC executive, was notified of this tragedy as he returned home from a business trip. He was taken to the hospital where his wife was after she had to be sedated.
Shock spreads through the couple’s building and neighborhood as the people who know the Krims; all said what a nice and happy family they were. The heartbreak of this tragedy is felt by the entire community today.
