Human remains found in Carter County could now be connected to a missing person’s case.
Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes says the remains were discovered off of Gap Creek Road along with a wallet belonging to the subject of a three month long missing person investigation.
But to assume that the skeletal remains and wallet ID belong to each other would be premature. Sheriff Mathes says there are other missing person cases in the area and even in other parts of the country.

Anytime there’s an unidentified body found – Mathes says the names of missing people surface from everywhere.
Mathes says, “We get calls from all over the country. If someone was passing through here that are suspect of a missing person, a lot of people have hope that they are going to see a person and that they are still alive.”
The remains are being analyzed by the University of Tennessee. Sheriff Mathes says results should be back within two weeks
