Fraud Investigation Man Accused of Selling Fake Ads Arrested in Lexington

Lexington Police arrest a man wanted for allegedly selling fake advertising for a high school basketball tournament.

Carl Elovitz was arrested overnight in Lexington.

Police in Frankfort say he was claiming to represent a company called “The Athletic Department.”

It’s unclear how much money was involved. Elovitz has outstanding warrants in Fayette, Jessamine, Woodford and Anderson Counties.

He’s charged with theft by deception and is being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.
