Police in Madison County are looking for a man who burglarized the Subway on Brenwood Drive in Berea.
Now, Berea Police are asking for your help in solving the crime.
The burglar has been given a nickname by some, the ‘Ninja Bandit’.
“I can tell you he looked like a ninja. He was wearing a mask and he knew what he was doing,” explained Jonathan Linville, a Subway employee.
Police said a man broke into Subway around 1:00AM on Monday morning and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. Security cameras caught him in the act but the missing money wasn’t discovered until Jonathan Linville got to work.

“The first thing I saw there were a bunch of cords hanging down from the ceiling on the prep table and I thought oh our maintenance guy has been here working on something. Then, I saw that the ceiling tiles were all out of place,” stated Linville.
It was then Linville realized what had happened.
“There’s usually all of these papers that are usually in our safe, paper work, all over the floor. I looked slightly to the left and there is this giant hole in our safe and I was like, Oh no!,” exclaimed Linville.
The surveillance video showed the burglar rummaging in his bag, pulling out a power tool, and before long sparks were flying. Subway employees were surprised by the burglar’s gutsy actions.
“He was very nonchalant, he walked straight across. It’s not like he was trying to duck and hide. We have lights on in here. Like I said he is very skilled, he was good at what he did,” explained Lori Vallandingham, a Subway employee.
Police said the man came in and left again through the back door. While other businesses in the area have cameras, none of them was able to pick up an image of the burglar leaving or a car. Police said he may have fled on foot.
If you know who the burglar may be, you’re asked to contact the Berea Police Department.
